My boyfriend and I stopped here for a quick lunch. We didn't know about this place and we've been pleased about the good food and nice and quiet atmosphere. Definitely recommend

It's hard to believe that such good food and coffee is available in a cozy family run place like this in the middle of nowhere. They even had vegetarian and vegan options, a rare find as of now in the Iceland's country side. The staff are very friendly. Almost all food and dessert is homemade. They also have rooms attached and I bet those are good as well.

My group got stuck here driving through a brutal storm. The family that runs this hotel is awesome. They were so kind and accommodating to the multitude of people that wandered into their cafe/hotel There must have been 50-75 people in their cafe. They made sure everyone was taken care of for the duration of the storm. We were able to purchase rooms in the hotel, and they were kind and tried to give us the best price they could, which was lower than their listed price. That's the kind of behavior that you just don't find too much of, especially in the U.S.

The food was delicious, and fresh, and as I mentioned the place was warm and inviting. Everyone went above and beyond. We didn't plan on ending up here, but it's one of the highlights of everyone's trip. I highly recommend it as a location for any stay in the area. It's relatively close to all the major sites in the peninsula, and the time you are at the hotel you'll be well taken care of.

We, along with numerous other travelers, were caught in a massive storm. Winds up to 90 mph blew snow across windshields, rendering the road invisible. Scared families with white knuckled, exhausted drivers pulled over and took refuge in the Hotel Rjúkandi's Cafe (where there is free WiFi). As the storm continued, the Cafe made room for more and more people, cheerfully, and did not frown or criticize the stranded travelers who did not order more than a coffee or soda. The food was filling and hearty (and the chocolate cake divine), but it's the people who really make this place a gem.

Unlkke in America where hotels have recently capitalized on the displaced victims of natural disasters by raising rates, the Hotel Rjúkandi offered discounted prices to travelers who chose to stay and not brave the reopened road. Maybe this is normal for Iceland, but it was a heartening welcome for the tourists who had been trapped by mother nature.

The Family and I visited the restaurant twice in one day with extremely good results. The first visit, we were the only customers and second visit the place was completely full. Each time, the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The soups are wonderful and tasted homemade, the water is free, cookies tasted homemade, and the hot chocolate was good to my Family. The prices seemed inline with the rest of Iceland, not any higher due to the remote location. Just can't say enough that if this restaurant was near where we lived, we would be there once a week, at least.

UPDATE: we actually visited this place 3 times! It is the best place to begin & finish your trip around the peninsula! The food is all good. Lovely staff and cosy, comfy place. Take a break warm up and enjoy!

We stopped off in this gorgeous place for some food and rest. It’s a cosy warm clean and lovely place to rest. And it smells great in here! The menu is sufficient enough to satisfy all. Coffee is great. Clean bathrooms. And the price is not bad at all. Really recommend a stop over.

This listing is for both a hotel and a small café/restaurant. We visited the latter. As it's Iceland, you won't find especially cheap food and drink here, but it is of good quality. There are seafood-based dishes, Swiss-themed hot chocolates and grandma's cakes. Good stuff.

This was a lunch spot for us while we were out for a day trip to Snaefellsness.

I got a burger was absolutely delicious along with the chiptole mayo that came with the fries. Beef and bacon were high quality and I like the veggies that went inside like an english cucumber. Bagel+lox, veg burger and meatball plate were very, very good too.

Roughly 2300 ISK for the main meals, big portions and friendly waitress. She always filled our water up and helped us with info about the area and made sure the WiFi was working too.

Clean bathrooms, nice music, espresso machine , overall a nice cozy space and perfect place to warm up and fill up too!!

Nice place with extensive coffee options. We only had coffee and hot chocolate here. I've had better hot chocolate though. No nice outdoor seating, only some benches at the parking lot next to the 54. No free refills.and we got the drinks in paper chips even though we asked for a cup.

Very welcoming. Beautiful room. Loved the shower! Quiet with beautiful views. Food excellent. Menu limited for those who don't eat fish. One beef type dish would be a good addition. The receptionist and wait staff were delightful. An excellent place to stay.

Only had dinner here but it was the most wonderful- perfectly presented food, skilled, attentive staff (rather unusual for Iceland per this American), and refined flavors in the cuts of meat, variety of veg, and creaminess of soup. Even the dessert exceeded expectations. This place popped up out of no where on our way back to our village post-hiking and was totally unassuming from the exterior but had a very upscale interior and waitstaff. Bravo!

Stayed for 3 nights to explore the area. Great location, and has gas pump.

Motel is lovely. Very stylish and comfortable. Lots of shelves and lights in room. A bit warm in our room, but were able to sleep with a window open.

Staff is very friendly and helpful.

    Breakfast was also very good.

    Would definitely stay again.
