Stopped here to fight jet lag and have a bite of breakfast with the kids. We were very surprised at the size of the boat that you can explore and the museum. You get to enjoy a buffet breakfast of all the local favorites you will come to enjoy including very strong coffee. It's a great taste of what's to come on your Iceland adventure. Highly recommend. Kids give it an A+

It was a good place to hang out before I could check into my hotel. I was jetlagged so I watched a video in the video room and drifted off for a bit. I enjoyed the viking boat they had that you could walk on and all the sheets of information about Iceland.

Great viking museum built around ship reconstruction. Interesting design, friendly staff. Amazing collection of viking stuff and good variety of souvenirs. They do have food/drinks in case you spend here a while (and you most likely will). Audio and video expositions as well as computer animated documentaries about ship types. Props to take a cool looking picture as well as places to sit and relax while enjoying this beautiful place.

Very interesting place. The replica long boat was beautiful. I remember learning about them in history class and was told about there shallow draught, which enabled them to get far up river. So it was finally nice to see one up close and personal.
Well worth the trip.

Really cool place! I was looking to do something somewhat touristy with some unexpected extra time. I didn't expect it to be so cool! Would recommend, interesting to learn about the Viking world and see an actual replica ship!

Small place but packed full of Viking history and stories. Plus, a full sized replica Viking ship that was actually sailed across the Atlantic! Very close to the Reykjavik airport so it's well worth a visit as your first or last stop in Iceland.

I didn't visit this museum, but I walked near. And there is a road along the ocean where you can see amazing view. I was here at January.

I walked there during several hours and I was impressed. Because if you go around 1 - 1.5 km you can see seals from shore! And also I saw a whale, but it was very far. ( thinking I'm lucky)

I highly recommend just walk from museum on shore road if you have enough time and like just to walk:)

A good stop after/before your plane lands. They have a breakfast buffet if you're arriving early and it was tasty and a decent price. Lots of interesting information about the Vikings in Iceland.

A bit out of the way but worth it if you love Viking ships. The Museum is not that extensive, but what exhibits there are are well done. But the full ship (a recreation that sailed to North America and back some years ago) is worth the price of admission alone.

Loads of interesting material and a full size viking ship! The exhibit is large, in Icelandic terms, but should take you just over 2 hours if you enjoy reading everything.

Staff was very friendly. The facility was very clean and well organized. Everything was laid out in a manner that presented the information coherently and flowed well together. The Íslendingur was amazing to go aboard and was definitely a highlight. Breakfast buffet had everything you could need and was very cost effective. Definitely recommend

A bit small and expensive, but very friendly staff. The exhibits they had were lovely and informative. You got to walk inside a reconstructed boat and had lovely views. They are open far earlier than many other places in Iceland and they serve food.

Close to the airport so we took some of our extra time before the flight. It's mostly about the Ericson's travel to North America but all in all is a fine museum.

Awesome. First, a modern repro of a Viking ship that has actually sailed. Interpretive movie of the Vikings in North America.
You can go onboard the ship to see how it was constructed and used. Gift shop, books, snacks and coffee. Restrooms.

9 dollars usd and not many artifacts. Not recommended unless you're fanatical about iceland's history. It's mostly reading and replicas. Plenty of better things to see in iceland.

This was a fantastic stop, the best I made in my 2 weeks in Iceland. The admission is inexpensive for what you get, the food is fantastic and half the price you pay at other attractions. I learnt a ton about Viking ships and ship building, Viking culture and where they brought it. Well worth the money.

A good stop for about an hour if you have children. Interesting information and a chance to see the Viking ship replica in person is worthwhile. I recommend tying this in with a visit to the bridge across continents and the blue lagoon to make a full day in the region.

A great stop for all ages. The museum is decently equipped for its size and the best part is that you can access the ship and try out all the viking garb and weapons.

For all maritime lovers its one not to be missed.

Small but very cute museum, they presented the information in a very cleaver and entertaining way. The boat is impressive and it's very cool to be able to stand in it. We spend about 45'.

Quite a small museum. There are a few interesting exhibits, and the main event (the viking longboat) is spectacular. There is also a beautiful series of art work depicting Nordic history. The museum cost quite a lot for a relatively short activity, otherwise it's great.

This is a lovely museum not far from Reykjavik. If you have a car, it's worth the trip. It is small, but that's a good thing if you have kids: it's not overwhelming. The replica viking ship is beautiful, and you can actually walk onto it to get a feel for size and scale. When we visited, the museum also had a fun, arty exhibit of displays about the Norse gods that you walked through with an entertaining audio guide.

But one WARNING: The soup in the cafe smelled great, but it was a little off, and it made my daughter fairly ill (she didn't throw up, but she was close). I think that they were not holding it at the right temperature. I recommend that you eat elsewhere.
