Very close to glacier lagoon. Not many vegetarian options in restaurant here, but breakfast was good and soup was great as well. I would recommend trying Vatnajokull beer here. Its a local beer and we could not find it anywhere else in iceland.

Perfect. Really comfortable and beautiful hotel. It's located in a very quiet area and really beautiful scenario. The room is big and clean, the bathroom also big and the breakfast is good and complete. I do recommend this hotel.

The room and bathroom were very spacious! Clean but maybe not as clean as it potentially could’ve been. Understandable though because they were very busy so I’m guessing they have a high turnover rate. Breakfast was included and it had a decent variety, but it was average nothing too special. But we left full and satisfied. All in all I’d probably stay here again. Seemed like one of the best options for the area.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. They have cute horses right outside the rooms and you overlook the water and mountains. Breakfast was included which is amazing when everything in Iceland is so expensive. Dinner was amazing. I had lamb right from their farm.

This was supposed to be our meet up point for ice cave tour but got redirected to the restaurant. Even though we didnt stay here but from I saw in the past 30 mins of waiting, I noticed the staffs were very helpful and nice. Theres a nice little lobby area where it serves coffee.

This place offers everything you need after an exhausting day exploring the glacier. Friendly staff, a great local restaurant and a cozy bed. Perfect stay!

Nicely located for the Iceberg lake and the Glacier and ice cave tour. The breakfast was really nice with hot food in the morning. The evening meal was good with salted cod and local produce such as lamb.

A great little hotel and very easy to access from route 1..it is on it! The room was lovely and quiet and the general location was great for the glacial lake and the Northern lights.

Breakfast was greatbacon, eggs, beans, sausages as well as the usual continental stuff.

We ate here the night before too (NYE) and I chose the best fish dish. Lovely😀

I would stay again if passing. A great hotel on an isolated location.

3 years ago now and still stands out as memorable. Amazing food and little museum at the back. Owners were wonderful when we got stuck in a huge storm. Couldn't recommend highly enough

Quaintly nestled between the mountains and the ocean, the Hali Country Hotel offers guests stunning views in large rooms, with all amenities nearby. A short drive to the glacier lagoon for picturesque landscapes - especially if you go at night and catch the auroras glowing above the lagoon. The restaurant offers a good selection of Char and is inside the museum. Only spent a night, but it was one of our better accomodations for our 10-day roadtrip around the island.

Very beautiful hotel with most beautiful and new rooms (would be perfect) but worst wifi (nearly never works), worst breakfast (compared to the perfect selection at other places. the place for the buffet is very narrow, so you have to fight for your place there and it's crowdy) and worst waiters (unprofessional, helpless and less friendly) in iceland people knicki g at your door at 10h reminding you that you shall not forget to checkout at 11h??? the staff is behaving loke in a hostel but it's a rather expensive hotel.

Great hotel to stay at when visiting the glacier and iceberg lagoon. Amenities are minimal but rooms are spacious and clean. Restaurant and museum building looks like a bookshelf which makes for fun pictures.

Great gem just 15 minutes down the road from Jokulsarlon and Diamond beach. Great place to stay to visit those locations first thing in the morning before the crowds it.

The room itself was much better than expected since this is really in the middle of nowhere, but the setup was a lot of fun. It is a working farm; the hotel space is spread throughout the whole "village" on the farm. It is a very quiet location, right on a lagoon and in easy view of the open ocean. At least two different tours stayed there overnight, but the setup seemed like it must have been quiet enough, since both tours were up and gone before we woke up - we didn't hear a thing.

Breakfast was fantastic. A lot of choice and far more robust than we expected. After that experience, we had wished we'd arrived sooner to have dinner at the restaurant - I'm sure it would have been a far better experience than what we'd had instead. After breakfast, take some time to go through the museum (just off the breakfast room). It is a very well done exhibit that was far nicer than we expected - the quality of displays, exhibits, and signage could easily have been found in a national historical museum.

Be sure to take a little time to walk while there - even if just walking up to the restaurant for the included breakfast. The landscape was different - much more soil and grass - than most of the rest of Iceland we'd seen. There were many birds of different varieties, which was something we rarely saw in our time in Iceland.

Again, everything about our Hali Country Hotel experience exceeded our expectations. We travel a lot and have never had such a good experience with a family-run small hotel. My only criticism would be that the curtains were not darkening enough (we were there in late June, when it never actually gets dark outside) which would have helped get a better night's sleep.

A few notes about the place: Check-in and breakfast are at the building with the books - but be sure to check in by 9:00 pm or you have to call and get directions to your key and room (which was a problem for us since we did not have working cell service or access to a phone! Luckily, one of the staff saw us and helped us - but that was after 10:30, so we felt pretty lucky that happened.)

Stunning views of the coast and surprisingly nice facilities. Very good food in the restaurant (though a bit on the pricey side). Highly recommended if you find yourself in the area.

The room was spacious and clean. One of the best room we had during our trip in Iceland. Breakfast was nice and had hot food as well as cold food (unusual in Iceland), which we really appreciated. Moreover the restaurant kitchen closes at 9, which allowed us to have a proper dinner. The only small downside would be that the hot water pressure was scarce to have a proper shower. Overall 5*

Hotel is CLEAN and MODERN. Also has a view of the ocean for those romantic morning walks. Great for photographers if you want to set up sunrise photos or northern light photography. Cool thing about this hotel is that the hot water comes from Geothermalhow cool is that!

The food there was great, continental breakfast or full breakfast (there is something for everyone) and Dinner was equally great. This is also the main pick up point for the ICE CAVE TOUR.

One of the best accommodations I had in Iceland, this quaint and cozy place offers excellent food, great rooms on the sea shore and a very interesting museum open to the guests. Near by is a beautiful ice cave, glacier and glacier lagoon. Highly recommended!

Lovely accommodation. Everything we needed in a beautiful peaceful location. Food in the restaurant was expensive but very nice. Breakfast was included and had plenty of choice.

Super comfortable. You have to check-in via the building that says 'restaurant museum' that you see when you drive into the area. This is different to the living area - that's a long white building you'll see if you follow the road, and you can make your own tea/coffee with the facilities in the lounge area when you walk in.

The shower's good, they say it may take up to 2 minutes to heat up cos they use geothermal energy, but it doesn't take that long, and 2 mins isn't that big of a wait time anyway.

This place is located near the glaciers, obviously, so you'll get to see a TON of those if you drive out a few minutes without needing to go on those glacier hikes.
