Great place. With view to ocean and highest Iceland's peak.
Great place full of little details that will make you feel like home
There is only one kitchen on the downstairs, and the stove is tiny and bad. No direct access from downstairs to upstairs. You have to go outside and use the stairs. It was snow and windy during winter. So, we had to have full clothes and boots to go to the kitchen. It is really overpriced.
Decent place, but overpriced for what it offers. The host was very welcoming and helpful, gave good recommendations for restaurants and things to do around.
Tiny room. Not worth its price, by the entrance and next to the dining room. Overpriced.
Clean, nicely positioned, good separate toilets and 2 bathrooms. But remember it's a guesthouse not a hotel.
The "private" room was connected to the dining room + kitchen. This was very loud and obnoxious. Noise insulation is very poor. No electricity in the morning in the bathroom and toilet. Really overpriced for not so great accommodations. Would not recommend this, don't go ! This is my worst accomadation in Iceland so far.
Clean and tidy, but expensive and breakfast is not provided.
I find it very hard to give this guesthouse a good review. I waited 2 weeks until after our stay to write this as to not give it a terrible rating simply based on my bad mood.
The rooms were very tiny Not a problem for me but it's something worth noting.
The price for the value is not great I would even recommend spending just a little more money if it means staying somewhere with better standards for guest services, sustainability and business practices.
Guest Service: We had complications with the original check-in due to user error and it being booked through a 3rd party site These issues could have been addressed much more professionally. The lady offered to just book us for 1 evening due to the mix up, minutes later she took it back and refused. She used a scare tactic telling us we can't get out of anything because the weather was unpredictable (what?) She overcharged us for the misunderstanding and then insisted she gave us a great deal. The misunderstanding was so much that the 2 nights we stayed there were mostly focused around fixing the issue and not on the stay.
Sustainability: Unlike other accommodations in Iceland, they had no recycling bins, compost or any sorting system in place. Every single light in the guesthouse was turned on despite our best efforts to flip them off when we saw they were not in use. They dropped fresh towels at our room when we had only 2 nights booked While some might appreciate this gesture I think it's wasteful especially because we very obviously hadn't yet touched the towels they originally provided. Finally, you have to call a receptionist to greet you when you arrive This is not an issue until I witnessed the receptionist check guests in and just leave the vehicle running. These transactions were around 10 minutes. I realize this may not be a huge issue for most people but for those who are moving towards a more eco friendly lifestyle it was upsetting to see.
Due to the issues that we had the guesthouse did offer us a small (very small) refund which did not cover what they overcharged us and more or less just cancelled out the currency conversion charges that hit our account because we didn't have enough in cash due to it being almost double what we had originally budgetted for
The way the entire stay resulted was disappointing. The guesthouse could not have been more than a quarter full both nights we were there. This is possibly why we got mislead on the price vs. value (it is off season).
With all that being said, the guesthouse was still clean, quiet and cozy but not worth the price as compared to other accommodations in the area.
The private apartment was amazing, and the hosts were very accommodating with our late arrival
Rooms are cosy and clean and offered at a decent price. The guesthouse is at a convenient spot- right next to it is the best and probably the cheapest fast food venue (the langustine sandwich is absolutely beautiful). Wi-fi is fast.
That's not the best guesthouse of iceland, but is good for an accomodation in Hofn..
Great location - could walk to everything - but the tiniest twin room in existence - no hooks to hang anything, no room for bags. Having said that, bed was comfortable and it was quiet despite being fully booked.
