Awesome hotel with the best view. It'd directly opposite to the church. The receptionist is really friendly and it's a good starting place for your trip of Iceland.

Twin bedroom a little on the small side. But room was clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful..seating/reception area was a relaxing place to sit n chill. Breakfast was great and a great selection of free hot and cold drinks. Great location. I would happily come back again 😀

Been to better and cheaper hotels in Reykjavik. At Leifur you're essentially paying for the view on Halgrimskirkja church. The rooms are so tiny you cannot open the bathroom door because the bed is in the way. No things like small shampoo samples are provided, as they usually are, so bring your own. Free breakfast is nice but don't expect more than muesli, toast, some cold cuts and bread. Coffee and other hot drinks are free. Beds are queen size, bud you get two half size duvets.

Staff good overall, but Julian (overnight guy) was great! Very helpful and understanding. Great breakfast and coffee, and excellent location. We had a double room. It was clean, warm, with a comfortable bed. Room was a bit small, and lighting was terrible, but no big deal for one night.

Brilliant experience here during local stay. Ideal location, a bit more character than the harbour area. Room was quite small, but clean and functional. Good breakfast and coffee and water always available. Staff were helpful and polite.
Would stay again without hesitation!

Convenient to everything. The folks at the front desk were helpful and friendly and knew everything we needed. The bar is a cozy, welcoming place to sit in the evening. Can't beat the view of the church across the street. Wonderful place to stay.

Our room was small, but certainly had the very best view in the house on the top floor facing the cathedral across the street. Nice linens and a comfy bed - by my own mistake my traveling companion and I had to share a bed, but we each had our own duvet so not a big deal. Perfect location for shopping, walking, and sightseeing in the city center - many famous sights, restaurants and shops are within very easy walking distance. Fantastic staff and a wonderful breakfast - especially the tuna salad!!! Delicious!!!! No kettle in the room but you can help yourself to drinks in the lounge 24/7, either to stay or to bring with you as you explore the city.

The hotel really is in a great location like others have mentioned with a very friendly hotel staff. Being so close to the church, the tallest building in the city, it's a great landmark to find your way back home. When you go up the church tower, it can be seen in one of my photos to the right (front white building). I booked so far in advanced and requested an upper room (4th floor) with a mountain view and that's what I got. I was very happy and so was my wife. Only rear rooms have a balcony and even then the lower floor have poor visibility and shared balconies with a partition. Ours was to ourselves, I recommend factoring that in when booking. The rooms are on the small side, but I didn't come to Iceland to stay in my room. It was large enough for the both of us and clean. Also breakfast was plenty and basic but delicious: Fresh waffles, cereal, cold cuts, breads, assortments of spreads, eggs, and fruit (may have missed a few minor things but that's the gist). The main two reasons I only gave a 4 was that the wifi was very inconsistent. I had a very hard connecting to it in our room. This bothered me the most only because I'm working on my masters and was doing studies at night while my wife was sleeping. Second, the TV didn't work the entire time (did address to the front desk but their fixes did nothing). Not a problem for most, but were the type that likes having something on as background noise/entertainment when just lounging at night or hanging out playing cards. Overall, would recommend with the mentioned caveats.

Staff were excellent, but not local at least not in the mornings. Location is fantastic, the street it is on is a good shopping destination. Rooms were small but cozy, washrooms were not well maintained. We had a shower head that would put as much water in the rest of the room as on my head. Would definitely recommend this hotel though.

I booked a room at the Leifur Eiriksson but had to cancel due to a medical emergency. I just want to warn everyone, the hotel made it impossible to cancel even in a medical emergency.

I think the staff here is what makes this small family hotel stand out. On a recent visit they were outstanding. Thank you. Our room was basic but comfortable. Breakfast was enough and tasty. No complaints whatsoever.

Extremely helpful staff even late at night. They're also amazing at keeping you calm in case of some sort of emergency and solve issues not just effectively but also with the greatest amount of calmness.

So far the stay here has been great. The rooms are small, but cozy and warm. This is Iceland, after all, so you can't expect the Ritz at a budget price. Hotel staff is friendly and very accommodating.

Great stay here over Christmas. The staff were fantastic Farouq and Vittorio. So helpful and friendly and welcoming.
Great atmosphere in the cafe /reception area. Everyone mixing socialising/endless tea and coffee friendly and fun!!Great central location too. Definitely would come and stay here again.Thank you Sarah from Skipton.
