Husafell is a winter wonderland, with super geothermal hot spa pools and wonderful staff: from Johanna at reception to the Dining room staff and the Maid service all were so friendly and helpful, making our 3 nights a relaxing, revitalising super break. In this extreme environment the Lava Cave in the hills above is a gem and we enjoyed this as our best activity, with Emelia our very best guide.
But this hotel is expensive! Especially the dining room. It has no room service menu and no cheaper lunch menu. Breakfast was good but monotonously the same. For us the biggest let down was the opening times for the hot pools. These are only open about 7 hours each afternoon and are closed in the mornings, and at night: no Aurora gazing from these amazing thermal pools. They are firmly locked and closed just when you most want to soak and enjoy the cold winter from a hot pool!

Lovely hotel with a good chef. Outside of any city so much better chances of seeing the Northern Lights.

This was a beautiful place to camp. They're currently in the middle of remodeling the hotel, and I guess that means the bathrooms, showers, and washing are all closed off during the day due to painting. There were not any signs (in Icelandic or on English) to suggest that. Heads up: there is a really nice communal kitchen in the small cabin next to the restroom. There are no signs suggesting that and we ended up spending a ton on dinner before we realized that. Otherwise, beautiful and we enjoyed our stay.
