The place is amazing. You have really nice landscapes and sightseeing all around. You must stop in the lake, in the abandoned church and in the hot springs. Not to be missed. It is highly recommended that you bring some water and snacks with you. There are no shops around!

The west side of the lake is beautiful with several scenic viewpoints and sulphur springs. The roads on the east side of the lake are quite rough and if you are in a rental car, you may want to skip it.

Worth visiting, you can see the earth open up in front of you, with gases bubbling out of the hot water.

The lava fields look amazing. You can see the steam coming from the puddles and the rock covered with moss look awsome. We came back here at night to watch the aurora as there is not much light pollution out here. However we were not the only one with that idea so we had to drive for some time to be completely on our own.

It was a rainy day when we went up, and we were the only car there. We enjoyed the scenery although limited visibility. Nice mossy flowers. Recommend to go on a sunny day

Nice Park. The facilities were sadly old and not clean. Very busy in summer due to closeness of Reykjavik.

Wild and woolly with miles of desolate volcanic wilderness, simply amazing. Accessed with a gravel road with plenty of places to pull off the road to explore.

Well made walkways give you a good glimpse of the hot springs. There are signs with information about the springs in multiple languages including Icelandic, English, German, and another that I didn't recognize.
The real treat is following the trail up the mountainside. The view is spectacular. The trail gets a little rough in places but is still very nice. My GPS said I traveled 0.81 miles for the decent.response / report this review -

Drove through here. Really amazing views and just about zero traffic. Had a bit of gravel driving but our 2wd did fine.

We were just walking up this Hill to have a better view of the sea when we suddenly cross the pass of a big family of puffing ! It was wonderful and they where just 6m away ! So no need to pay for expensive boats to see them !
