Smallest parliament i've seen! But very nice to see such a safe and unguarded government office for a change!

A nice little urban plaza with statues right in the downtown area of Reykjavík, where you can see the parliament of Iceland and just chill on one of the benches. There are many bars and restaurants around and I recommend sitting outside (if the weather is nice) and have a beer in one of the many restaurants or hangouts that face the plaza.

This was the meeting place for a Free walking tour of the city. You can see the Parliament building just in front of it. It has lots of benches and we fed a couple of lovely, small, singing birds there. There's also a statue in the middle, of the guy who implanted the idea of Iceland being independent from Denmark. Apart from that, it's actually quite small and lacks any interesting vegetation.

This is a popular city park with a great location between the parliament building and a series of sidewalk cafes. At the park center is a bronze statue of Jón Sigurðsson on a tall stone pedestal. Typically there is a crowd in front of this statue. The SW corner has the Black Cone monument to civil disobedience. The NE corner of the park (opposite corner from the Black Cone) which is across from the Paris cafe has interpretative signage for the history of public protests at this location. The park and its surrounding neighborhood is a nice area to explore on foot.

A beautiful place that feels very much like a park you'd find in Continental Europe, but these days it feels overrun with American Bros, whose boisterous vocalisings overpower everything else in the square.

Centre square of sorts where everyone ends up when the bars close at 5am. Hot dog carts.
