The best Beef - Sandwich i ever tried. Fantastic homemade bread with smooth grilled beef and a magic mushroom sauce. Would order this wonderful dish again and again. The Restaurant is so nice and cute, also the staff Perfect.

Excellent, cute café: top quality food, relaxed, cozy and friendly atmosphere. Never had such a quality burger!!!. Their carrot soup of the day and home made bread were truly outstanding and delicious. Our waitress was the best! very smart, kind and charismatic, she truly made us feel at home. We recommend this restaurant 100% for its quality, friendliness and customer service. Do not miss this café while visiting south Iceland, totally worth it.

Unfussy but high quality, locally sourced food in a relaxed atmosphere. Gamla Fjosid was the perfect venue for a burger and beer after a long day in the car. We chanced turning up without a reservation, which at 7pm on a weekday worked out but shortly thereafter plenty more people started to arrive.

The date cake was particularly memorable. The portion was sizable and the cake dense, so the waitress's suggestion that two people share one was much appreciated.

Best burger I ever had! My second time here and it never fails me. Their volcano soup is also great but I keep coming back here for the Farmer’s Burger.

Great service and nice people. I don’t really do reviews but this place deserves it. Might be the best mushroom burger in the world.

Best meal we had during our week in Iceland! Do not forgo the DATE cake! Delicious beef from the field - the Farmer’s burger, steak sandwich, & volcano soup. A hidden gem off Hwy 1.

The best hamburger I ever had. I had the farmers burger, I think, with mushrooms and onions and a special sauce! The soup of the day was awesome too! Really nice and homey. A hidden gem that is right off the Hwy #1

Bread and service were great. Special of the day Entrecote was extremely tough (the part close to the skin was not edible - we can't even cut off pieces with a steak knife). We were starving but if I ordered this anywhere else in the world it would have gone back to the kitchen. Vocalno Soup was a good beef stew but the bowl was less than one inch deep - aka the portion was tiny for 2400 kr (yes Iceland is expensive but this was not at all a hearty stew as advertised). Maybe they had an off day but this was by far our most disappointing meal in Iceland.

Go to Iceland, go to this restaurant, get the volcano soup and the date cake. You MUST try the date cake. Excellent. Best place to eat in the area.

This restaurant is a wonderful place to stop for lunch. We ordered the soup, which was refillable. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The bread was especially amazing.

Supeb restaurant in a farm. Tasty fresh food. Very good service. We loved every dish we ordered, big portions too. This a great option if you are driving Road #1 and you want to eat really well at the same price than any other place in Iceland.

Wonderfully quaint farm cafe that doesn't look much from the outside but is the cosiest of places once inside. The staff are welcoming and accommodating and offer very high quality of home-cooked food featuring ingredients direct from the farm. The soup is literally health in a bowl and the freshly baked bread is made even better with the addition of the mint and chilli jams sitting on every table. A good place for lunch. If they expanded their dinner menu to have more options they would get a full 5 stars. Thank you for making us tourists feel so welcome and thanks for the free jams!

It was great to have a substantial vegetarian main dish option, as well as a vegetarian mushroom soup, on offer. (Actually it seems that mushroom soup is a common offering in Iceland - we had it at two other restaurants also - but the Gamla Fjosid version was the best.) The coffee was very good (self-serve and "bottomless") and the service was excellent, with a friendly and professional server.

Old farmhouse (cowhouse according to our guesthouse owner a few km down the road who visits often) that has been converted to a charming restaurant. The prices are reasonable and even inexpensive compared to what I'd seen around the island. Volcano soup had some fantastic spice and the meat was so tender. The mint and chili jam was to die for (even if my wife wasn't a huge fan). Highly recommended.
