Tomatoes are the main ingredient to most of the items on their menu. If you go, don't be afraid to try other items besides the soup. The pasta I had, for example, was very tasty and quite filling. It also came with some tomato slices on the side.

The greenhouse eating environment is truly extraordinary and worth going out of your way for.

This is a very neat restaurant. It does not have a very varied menu, and really the main thing to get is all-you-can-eat tomato soup and delicious fresh baked bread of multiple varieties. They also offer several variations on the Bloody Mary. The food is very good, as long as you like tomatoes. The atmosphere is great as well - set in the greenhouse amongst the tomato vines.

Beautiful atmosphere, and the soup was good. Not anything spectacular to write home about, but I did have a tasty meal. Can't beat fresh farm to table. They also serve a tomato beer. It's not really tomato, it's a white ale that they brew with tomatoes, just taste like beer. You don't get tomato at all. Except for the cherry tomato they put in the bottom of your glass. However I was disappointed with the service. I emailed to make a reservation because that is recommended, if not required. No one replied to my email. I showed up as soon as they opened, the place was practically empty. but they refused to seat me in the regular dining area. I assume this is because I was traveling solo, and that seems to be a typical problem. They LET me sit in the bar, but I was only allowed to order one item off the menu, I did not have access to the full menu. This place has a great lunch special, bottomless tomato soup and bread with a bunch of yummy toppings for about $20 self serve, like a fancy buffet. But because I was sitting in the bar area they would not let me go serve myself unlimited soup. And I didn't get any of the yummy toppings. The whole thing is just ridiculous. The farm is nice, and I did enjoy the food, but it's a little too pretentious and I was frustrated that my money was no good because I was sitting in the bar alone rather than 2 feet away at a table with a server. Iceland has been a wonderful country until now; I've never felt more unwelcomed. If you're traveling with a group and try to make reservations a week or more out I'm sure you won't have any problems. Hope you have a better experience than I did.

This is by far one of the best meals we had while touring Iceland. We left the golden circle stops for the end of our Iceland tour, so after all that, I'd still rank this the best and certainly most unique meals of the trip. The soup was obviously delcious. Combined with the fresh olive/rye bread, homemade butter and cucumber salsa, made it all the better. To top it off, it was buffet style, so it your tight on coin and only want to eat out a few times during your stay, plot this on the map and make the trek. You won't be disappointed. The staff were super friendly, and you can wander he greenhouse to see the plants and bees that pollinate them. You done right inside the greenhouse, eating alongside the rows and rows of tomato plants. Simply amazing!j Also, when we visited (April 2018) they had just started serving tomato beer - try it!

Tomato nirvana! Producing 1 ton of tomatoes per day (yes, every day), there is no lack of tomato themed food, drinks, and gifts. The endless tomato soup lunch is completely worth the price. They bake delicious bread daily to complement the fantastic soup. While the soup itself is pretty basic so as to highlight the tomato, they provide sour cream, salt, pepper and basil plants right at your table with shredding scissors so everything is literally as fresh as it can possibly get. This was such simple food, but definitely one of the best lunches we had in Iceland. We didn't get any, but you can even get a shot in a hollowed out roma tomato.

I got postcards with their bread and soup recipes, so hopefully I can recreate a piece of my trip. I have a feeling it won't be quite the same without the glacier water, though, but I can't wait to try it out!

a good example of how to transform a traditional business in a sexy one! had a great lunch - if you want a proper table it's better to book in advance. we had the lunch menu they serve at the bar and it was the best option.

Wow. OK so it is expensive. Is 2290 for tomato soup buffet GBP 16 but never tasted anything so good. Home baked bread and a selection of tomato based alcoholic drinks or soft drinks and beers. We also had pizza and a tomato ice cream shared with cut your own basil. Highly recommended.

The place looks fantastic. However we didn't book the place and it was full when we arrived. It's worth a visit even if you don't have the time to eat here. But you MUST try their tomato sauces they are incredible. We and up buying a bunch.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could! We stopped here on our Golden Circle drive, and I'm so glad we found it! I had no idea they had food, so our plan was just to stop and look at the greenhouse. Although it seemed like they preferred reservations, we didn't have to wait long for a table, but let me tell you, I would go back and wait any amount of time just to have the tomato soup again. SO DELICIOUS. The staff took the time to explain the greenhouse to us, and we were able to learn so much all while having a meal right in the middle of it! Worth every penny.

Omg. This was the best restaurant that we ate at in Iceland. The food was actually delicious (a rare thing in Iceland) and affordable (even more rare!)!
My friend who hasn’t liked tomatoes for the 25years that I’ve known her even enjoyed the food. Everything is made from their greenhouse grown tomatoes: the main courses, desserts, AND drinks. My friends and I each got something different so we could try the whole menu. Everything was really delicious! Oh! Make a reservation, we would have missed out if it wasn’t a rare slow day.
Also, vegetarian recommended :)

Such a great spot. We stopped here on our way to Geysir for lunch and were the first ones in as they opened. Awesome service and the tomatoes and tomato based products are as good as you’d think with their reputation. The atmosphere in the dining area is also so welcoming and relaxing. My wife had the pasta while I had the soup with bread and we were extremely pleased with it all. Buffet style for the tomato soup works perfect. I recommend calling way ahead if you are more than a party of three, or any size party not showing up right as they open.

I love that place, their staff was helpful and helped us learn more about the use of Greenhouses in Iceland! Also they informed us for the important role of the geothermal energy and it's utilisation on growing tomatoes for sauces, cocktails, tomato soups and everything that related to tomatoes! I tried the Bloody Mary cocktail as The Guardian review as the best Bloody Mary in the world. It's flavour was intensive, refreshing and the mixture of gin and tomato juice was the best combination I have ever tried. The tomato soup with the homemade bread was a fantastic beginning for our daily tour! Highly recommended place, amazing branding of their products and an amazing atmosphere of a restaurant next to the greenhouse!

This place was amazing. The staff were very nice and professional. They explain to you how the green house works and all of the food they offer. We went in December and they had a few seasonal drinks at the time. Food was very good and the bread st the buffet was excellent. Me and my wife each enjoyed the pasta dish. We had some friends who seemed to really enjoy the tomato soup. This was a wonderful place to warm up while it was cold outside. I will warn you that it does get toasty and we had to shed some layers. One of friends had some camera difficulties due to the humidity of the restaurant. If you do visit you should go and see the bumble bees that have in their hive. You will hopefully be able to see the queen bee. If you nervous about bees then maybe don't go over to them. We only saw one during lunch and it didn't bother anyone. I would definitely recommend this place, especially if your headed to Geyser the same day.

No matter what you're in Iceland for, this place is a must! They kindly explain the entire process and how this greenhouse works. It's amazing. You can get all you can eat tomato soup, bread, coffee, and tea for around $20 USD. There are other food options. There is a bar here as well. While visiting, make sure to visit the Icelandic horses and pet them. Show them some love! PARKING: Parking is free here. There is parking immediately to the left when you enter the driveway and parking right in front of the greenhouse. BATHROOMS: 2 unisex bathrooms aka WC

Restaurant in a tomato green house, all their meals are amazing and have their own tomatoes in them. I especially recommend the tomato soup buffet. The restaurant also has a small store, where you can buy products they make out of the tomatoes.

Lovely place but be warned, if you don't like tomatoes, stay away! Otherwise, the tomato based menu has some great choices. We went for a Virgin Mary and tomato soup (best tomato soup I've had) which includes as much of the very tasty selection of breads as you like and as much tea or coffee you want afterwards.

I adore this little place, we visited 3years previous and decided we HAD to go back to have some more of this soup. The place has changed more recently and there's a larger menu with more sit down space but they still tell the story and let you walk around their tomato plants. I'm still fascinated by the imported bees! The food there is just beautiful and the staff are wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly. Absolutely worth a trip.

Lovely atmosphere and a great dining experience. Awesome tomato soup, but where this place really shines for me is the quality and variety of the all-you-can-eat bread. It's all fresh and they regularly brought out even fresher bread. The olive bread is one of my two favorites that they have. I ate so much of it and it left me wanting more. The tomato ice cream was also surprisingly good!

If you like tomato soup and tomato based drinks, then this is the place for you. Enjoy eating in the geothermal greenhouse that your food was grown in. Everything is super fresh and as local as it can get.

This is a very unique approach and a very interesting place to visit.

Educational and delicious. A great food option, excellent soup and bread. Take Monica's tip about eating at the bar and save some $$. Worth a stop if you enjoy good food (some of the best in Iceland) and like gardening or crops.

We discovered this farm and restaurant on a TV show that featured it for the tomato soup.

The dining experience could not have been better. The setting is amazing; located inside a green house surrounded by vines of fresh tomatoes. Workers are tending to the plants and harvesting the ripe tomatoes just steps from your table.

The staff was super friendly. Our server was attentive and told us how the restaurant came to be, how the growing process works, and what makes their tomatoes so special.

The menu centers entirely around their tomatoes. There is a table of warm soup surrounded by many types of bread for dipping; the soup is all you can eat. There are also a few other items like pizza (tomato soup, fresh mozzarella, on a fresh tortilla) and is a good size to share with another person if you also do the soup. The bar menu includes a number of bloody marys made using their house tomatoes. Everything was ridiculously delicious and well worth the trip.

There are also bottles of soup to buy and take home. Fridheimar Farm is a MUST.

Best tomato soup I've ever had. Tip: if you don't want to spend 2300 kroner on a soup and bread buffet, go to the bar and get a bowl of soup with a piece of bread for 1100 kroner instead.

We went during the busy summer season at around 4pm and the wait without a reservation for a table was 45 min. No wait for the bar.

Would want to try the tomato ice cream next time when I have more money! It also looked very cool to dine next to the garden.

Very interesting place. Enjoyed talked provided by guide. They have huge greenhouses in Iceland for their crops. I was interested in the growing coming from Humboldt County California and the damage the Marijuana growers are doing to the rivers there, they should really look into these guys and their operations

Interesting place to visit, but the food was nothing special and very overpriced.

Aside from the food, I enjoyed my experience here. It was interesting to learn about the greenhouse and dining in the greenhouse is an original experience.

The wait time is terrible at this place. We had to wait an hour for a table without reservation and they didn't clean up the table for us to be seated (our tag was on it) for a good 15 minutes until we asked. The restaurant is mostly self serving and they were not very busy so I cannot imagine a good excuse for that.

We all had the bottomless tomatoes soup. They also provided marinated cucumbers, sour cream, butter and basil leaves for seasoning. While the ingredients are fresh, I find the soup too sweet to my liking and it didn't taste very different. The bread that goes along with the soup was good though and they have a wide variety of choices. The price was outrageous (22 USD) and the food was not good. (1/5)

We also ordered the tomato ice cream for dessert and it was better experience than the soup. The ice cream had sweet tomato jam on top, which is similar to strawberry jam with tomato fragrance. The ice cream itself is made of milk blended with tomato but the tomato flavour doesn't stand out a lot. There are also chunks of crispy green tomatoes inside that adds a different texture. The price was very expensive (13 USD for a scoop) but at least it was a unique experience. (3/5)

Great experience, excellent Bloody Mary-but not cheap. Staff friendly and knowledgeable about the tomatoes and the bumble bees. Bumble bees always return to their own hives and pollinate between 10 am and 3pm and don't try to fly away.

We weren't sure what to expect, but are glad we stopped at Friðheimar. They have a limited menu, but it is delicious--soup and bread. Like all the food in Iceland, it was fairly expensive, but we were there on a gorgeous late summer day with perfect weather, so overall a pleasant experience. We skipped the pricey cocktails which they were pushing pretty hard. Make sure you get a good visit to the greenhouse--it's an amazing setup.

AMAZING! I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Super friendly people and DELICIOUS food. Their signature tomato soup is AWESOME! And the tortilla is unbelievable as well. But the bread selection that comes with the soup is what floored us. So fresh! This place is a MUST!
