Perfect for coffee, tee and cake.. lovely atosphere.. didn't try the food, but the people looked happy :D

One of the places we loved most in our 3 weeks in Iceland. This lovely cafe is basically in a greenhouse, landscaped with ponds and flowers, allowing you to feel like you're outdoors without eating in Iceland's cold temperatures. The food was delicious and original, and the prices were some of the most reasonable we found.

Nice place to go on a sunny day with lovely surroundings and plenty of options for drinks, desserts and small plates of food although when busy service can be slow.

I would give it 6 stars if I could, it's the most beautiful cafe I've been. It's in the botanical gardens, the cafe itself is like a greenhouse, so you get all the sun and no wind, and it's full of plants, it has a pond and a bridge and blankets if you get cold.

A cold night in Reykjavik (blankets over the backs of your chair). Many extra people packed into a small indoor space. Staff leaning over the indoor pond to place floating and stationary candles. More staff running around serving drinks and food. So many opportunities for bad things to happen. And guess what? Nothing bad did.
All of this happened last night, 28 September 2016, during an intimate concert featuring Páll Óskar and Monika. Páll sang. Quite well, as usual. Monika played the harp. Yes, a harp, and she played it beautifully as well. Páll's voice was as clear, powerful and beautiful as ever. I have never heard him accompanied by a harp. Quite extraordinary. If you can, you should go, if there are any tickets left.
Ah, yes, back to the cafe. They had a special menu last night. Vegetable soup, featuring (what else?) vegetables from their own garden. Served with bread and a superb butter spread with salt flakes served on a seashell. Say that three times fast. ;)
For the entree we chose the chicken salad with, you guessed it, more delectable items from their gardens. This was more than your mother's chicken salad, folks. I am guessing there were over 20 different ingredients in it, including two different types of sesame seeds, and probably five different types of grilled or roasted nuts.
For dessert we had Swiss mocha and pecan pie. Nothing ever bad about the Icelandic dairy products, in this case cream, to top it all off. Very, very tasty.
In summary, excellent food, served by a most wonderful staff. At least the 6 or so we interacted with. Genuinely nice, pleasant people. The crowd was well-behaved, the harp beautifully played, and then Páll Óskar. A simply spectacular performance made this the perfect evening.response / report this review -

Kitchen isn't open until 11am even though they say it opens at 10am. Beautiful location however.
