Beautiful waterfall. It is a bit apart from the main road and it’s a bumpy ride but well worth it. Don’t worry if you have a small car, you can make it.

Named after the BEAST. It's a beast of a waterfall. To get to the falls there is a short hike. Maybe half mile. There are two sections. The viewing bridges are always very slippery and icing. Have good balance or wear propped foot wear. There are two sections the lower part is the Beast of dettifoss. The upper part is beautiful too surrounded by unique rock walls.

Amazing waterfall. The most powerful in Europe. Do check out the road conditions when driving there during winter. Spent 5 hours driving there because some roads which were open became closed halfway through. Road conditions changes really quickly so remember to check it frequently.

Only the west car park was accessible and open during my visit (18/2/18)

An popular waterfall on the diamond circle and for good reason being one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland. Also known as the most powerfull waterfall in Europe. This massive waterfall has tremendous power you can see from a distance, feel from the ground shaking and hear from its roar of thousands of gallons of glacial melt roaring downstream off a 144' cliff into a crevasse.

This is a busy place but has easy access being on the diamond circle. There is a lower and upper view here of the waterfall that has a well maintained path. It is close to many other amazing sights. It is a fun stop because just a short drive south west of here is the geysers.

Beyond your imagination but be very careful on the dirt road ride into the falls. The few cars that we did encounter, were speeding and throwing up large amounts of gravel. This could equate into a broken windscreen!

It's an adventure just getting to this majestic waterfall! Through wind, rain and fog, we drove our AWD SUV through 30 minutes of gravel, F-road, goodness. The road is in terrible condition full of pot holes, but finally we made it and walked through the foggy, rocky trail to set our eyes are the power that is Dettifoss. Beautiful waterfall, worth seeing.

Just impressive! The largest waterfall in Europe fed by smaller waterfalls which are no less stunning. If you are lucky and the sun is shining you might see a rainbow as well which is great for taking some photos.

One of the most impressive waterfalls. There are two roads going to it, the east one (826) is a gravel 28 km road that takes you directly to the waterfall cliff. The west road is shorter and leads to the observation platform.

Absolutely one of the best waterfall experiences in all of Iceland. We were lucky enough to have a rainbow visible right as we arrived. The sheer size and scale of this waterfall is unlike any other in the country.

Impressive waterfall with a very large volume of water going down every second. Whether you go close to it and get a bit wet during the process or step back a bit further and admire the full width of the waterfall, you will not be disappointed.

The sheer volume of water mesmerizes you like an optical illusion. It's the most powerful waterfall in Europe, you have to stop by as you loop the Ring road. Beautiful canyon both up and downstream.

It's a little bit of a drive from the main road but it's worth visiting! The falls run into a glacier and you can get some views of the falls from the front and rear. There's also a trail running to the Selfoss if you plan on spending more time there. Parking is big and has washrooms.

Completely epic! This is a must see if in the north of Iceland. Hike is roughly 1000m from parking lot. Not handicap accessible.

Nice place. Getting there was a bit difficult because of the snow and fog (could not than 25 meters ahead) but when we arrived, little later the fog was gone. There are 2 waterfalls 1,5km away from each other. Does not take more than 1hour to visit both of them. Great hiking place.

One of the most powerful waterfalls of Europe! When I was there it was extremely windy we had to walk threw ice to get there but it was worth it!
