This was definitely a very comfortable (could even pass as luxurious) for a camp site! It was very nice to be able to use their hostel facilities. The kitchen, washrooms and showers were super clean!
Great camping site, well equiped, clean, warm, good value for money
This is a nice place. You can choose between staying in dormitory or put a tent outside. You can ask for a local info in the reception.
The Hostel is clean. Thats one Good thing. The rooms are very expensive for that what you get. The water is everywhere stinky because of the geothermal heating they do. The bathroom facilities weren't enough and not in a good shape. All in all, would prefer my tent next time on the nearby campsite.
Kind of taylorist (not a problem for this type of accommodation). More problematic : all is extremely noisy : floor when people walk, bed that creaks in collective rooms, under-sized kitchen close to the rooms Prepare your earplugs
Hostel is clean, beds are a bit short (I am 1.80 and my feet touched the other person's feet repeatedly). Kitchen and dining room are big enough. Only downside would be the noise. The floor is hollow, so when someone is walking in the hall, you can hear it in that whole hall
Very nice welcome and great placeto visit around Mývatn lake and volcanoes..nice camping and dormitories with great kitchen for cooking..and clean. .Thanks :)
Bedroom was acceptable, but expensive considering what you get. Add to that a very congested kitchen/common area and not enough bathroom facilities (plus stinky sulfuric hot water?), and overall it's not very pleasant there very few alternatives.
Absolutely dreadful last summer
+++ DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL +++
We booked the hostel several weeks ago and also specified our time of arrival (5 pm - 8 pm).
After quite an eventful Journey in -7 degrees celcius, we arrived at the Hostel just to see nobody was at the reception or anywhere on the ground. First we didn't think anything bad, because on the locked door was a list with a few numbers to call, if nobody was there. Also it is not unusual for a hostel. BUT nobody answered the phone, eventhough we called all of the numbers at least once.
We waited for nearly an hour for somebody to come or call us back. It was way to cold to wait any longer so we decided to find something new.
ONE HOUR later a lady called us back, half-heartedly apologizing and asking us if somebody should pick us up as if we had waited for more than two hours in -7 degrees.
No we already went to Vogafjos Guesthouse (who showed us great support and hospitality) and had to pay way more money than we originally wanted to, just because this lady didn't think it was necassary to do her job. Still, she didn't suggest paying the difference in price (which was more than 100€) and when I suggested it, she cut me off, said she could only apologize and hang up on me.
So, if you want to wait in -7 degrees feeling completely alone, this is the hostel for you!
If it would be possible we would give -5 stars.
