We booked the honeymoon suite. We stayed here twice. The suite was amazing. The balcony is shared among 3 suites. The hotel is located in the main street. Service is great. Ruth and Michael Haephrati.

Good friendly service. The rooms are simple and ample. Instead of a room phone they provide a cellphone that can be used to make local calls and as a wifi hot spot, which is very useful to avoid data roaming charges. The rooms that overlook the street can be a bit noisey during weekends but not too much so, just beware in case you have very light sleep.

My trip to Iceland exceeded all my expectations. The Alda was simply the icing on the cake, check in was quick yet welcoming, smooth and informative. Our room was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well decorated. Breakfast was delicious, buffet style with everything you needed to set you up for the day. The food from the hotel restaurant Brass was also delicious, staff were friendly and efficient. The Alda was always warm, welcoming, friendly and clean. The location is fabulous. You won't be disappointed!

If you're willing to spend the money, then this place is worth every penny. I would say the experience was lovely overall, the room was clean and very nice. The best part was the location! It was so nice to be able to walk to places like Nostra restaurant and some local bars. Super great!

So lovely. Beautiful room, great staff, great sauna and hot pool, tasty breakfast. Great location. These people let us check in at 6 am after a long flight. Fantastic home away from home.

Very nice hotel in town. Clean and friendly and shops and restaurants right outside the front door. The breakfasts were lovely and dinner at the hotel one night was excellent.

Excellent location, central to bars, restaurants and shopping. The hotel staff were helpful, the room was always warm they supplied complimentary robes and slippers. The breakfast was amazing, so many choices of food from the basic breakfast to make your own waffles. The meals at the attached restaurant were very tasty and filling and gave a 10% discount if staying at the hotel. A novel offer provided at the hotel was the use of a smart phone throughout your stay. We used it everyday, maps FB etc and erased it at the end of our stay. The staff informed us that it would return to default settings when we checked out. This hotel just ticked all the right boxes, would definitely stay there again.

Really lovely modern decor. Rooms so clean you could eat off of the floor. Comfy beds, neat bathrooms and furniture. Wonderful, truly wonderful and delicious breakfast buffet.

Great hotel in an amazing location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food was great. The only problem we had was the duvet was two singles on a double bed and they were also way too hot to sleep under after a while. Would definitely good back and recommend to friends

Completely unclear on numerous policies including completely inflexible check-in time, such that I arrived at 9:30am and was unable to get to my room until 2pm. Should have spent less on tacky decor and more on better customer service.

Downtown location means parking is an issue. The room was pleasant, modern and clean. The staff member was a bit rude when we checked out.

This hotel was clean and comfortable and pretty new. The furniture and interiors of the rooms are pretty basic, sort of IKEA style furniture. The location is Central and the prices are on the high side, definitely not a value. We felt that the front desk service could have been a bit warmer.

I find it very difficult to understand why one of the more popular Business/tourist hotels in Reykjavík doesn't accept the American Express card. While they might be saving 1% or 2% in Amex merchant fees, those fees are getting pushed onto their customers by Visa and MasterCard which had a hefty foreign exchange and foreign transaction fees on to customers bills. So factor that into your analysis when you were looking at the hotels pricing.

I would add that a very nice touch is that they give you a local cell phone with free local calls and data, very useful for exploring a new city in a foreign land. I stayed at one other hotel in Paris which does the same thing and it is really a very customer friendly amenity.

This hotel is awesome. The location is perfect in the city, and the hotel itself is very modern and clean. It is in a perfect place whether you are walking around the city or catching a tour out in the country. The lobby is a nice place to relax if you're waiting for a bus tour, and the reception staff is very helpful. I got to the hotel at 7am and they gave me my room early no questions asked. They also held my luggage if I was out of town on a tour. The rooms were very modern and nice. The bathroom made great use of a small space with a clever shower design. Checkout was a snap too. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is very nice, but also very affordable.

Clean, modern hotel. Very friendly, accommodating staff. This is a great place to stay when in Reykjavik. It's literally in the middle of where you want to be for nightlife, restaurants, cafes, etc. Museums are about 15 minutes away walking. Started with a regular room and while it was perfectly nice, did not like the fact that the only window opened to another enclosed walkway, so no fresh air. Moved to their deluxe room and that is more of what we're used to when traveling in the sense that it's a little roomier and has windows that open to actual fresh air.

Gym in the hotel has some free weights (but no bench to use them with), treadmill, elliptical. Functional, but really if you want cardio, just go outside, there are great walking and jogging paths outlined on the hotel maps. There's also an outdoor hot tub.

Even though they advertise a spa in the hotel, there is no masseuse on premise. When we asked about options for massage before long flight, we got two other hotel recommendations about 30 mins away.

Restaurant attached to the hotel serves excellent food, much like most places on or near Laugavegur, and the buffet breakfast is fantastic for a reasonable price.

A relatively trendy spot, perfectly located on the main high street. The rooms are fitted with modern facilities. Great showers, TV with phone connectivity and a hair dryer, amongst other things. There's plenty of space in the rooms, enough to spread out a bit and not worry about moving around the room. On arrival, the hotel gives you an android smart phone (free of charge) for the duration of your stay A welcome addition! With free 4G unlimited data this made finding the best places in town easy. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Spent a great 6 days , 5 nights in Reykjavik and staying at the Alda. Good rooms, great breakfast (and I mean awesome). We had several folks with food allergies, and special requests - all met. The staff at the main desk were especially helpful. We arrived early Monday morning (730) and checked our luggage and got a great recommendation for breakfast (not included the nights you are not in the Alda) the Bergson. Great place! Saturday morning we had an event to travel to the Blue Lagoon and then on to the airport. There was a mixup between the travel company and the transportation company. The Alda staff made several phone calls to both agents and got things worked out for us. They were WONDERFUL! Thanks so much. Great location, great rooms. great breakfast, great staff!

Beautiful hotel with extremely helpful staff. Stayed in room 413 (top floor with a balcony) and had an excellent view of the mountains. Although they were very faint the night we stayed, we could see the Northern Lights from our room and balcony. (If faint and you want to see better, I recommend walking over to the viking ship on the water-- at the end of the small pier it is on is the darkest spot we could find to watch). Staff all went above and beyond to offer their help and ensure we had a great stay. Each guestroom receives a complimentary mobile phone at check in that has unlimited data and local calling). Stay here!
