We were only in Reykjavik for one night and stayed in this lovely apartment. The location was fantastic and all the essentials are in there. The lady on reception was really friendly and helpful and the decor and layout is all really nice. Would highly recommend.
Check in was easy, and they helpfully held onto our bags before checking in so we could explore unhindered. Our room was cozy. We were initially surprised at the glass door on our bathroom but I don't think that is unique to this one hotel in Iceland.
Only problem was that our room overlooked a street that was *very* noisy Saturday night. We got very little sleep before the wee hours of the morning, and then only after turning on white noise playing from my phone.
Absolutely amazing! The most beautiful, cleanest apartment. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. So close to everywhere you need to be and travel to any excursions 2 minutes from the hotel. Would love to come back again and ahain
Nicest place I stayed in my 2 weeks in Iceland. Friendly staff. Reasonable priced, even more so when you consider it's great location in the middle of two of the most popular streets. Then even upgrade your room no charge if it's available.
Great location right downtown with easy access to everything and walking distance to most places you would want to see in the great off Reykjavik. That said, it is a pretty funky place. Told us we were upgraded to what amounted to a garden studio - below grade with not enough light (bulbs were burnt out in 2 of the main light sources in the room. We were directed down staircases, up staircases and outside, which would be cool were we not shlepping our suitcases along, too. Traveling with our 13-year-old son, we needed 2 beds. What we got was 2 mattresses pushed together atop a platform, so we would have been like 3 in the bed. Son chose to sleep on the couch, which was a relief. The beds were actually really comfortable. Hotel receptionist said she hoped we liked the room, but if we didn't, they wouldoops, well it is the only room they have available. Biggest negative of our stay: the people in the room above us arrived after midnight and could be heard clearly all night walking back and forth on our heads, rolling suitcases from one end of their room to the other. I got very little sleep the first night. Great shower, convenient kitchenette with adorable pink retro fridge, with niceties like coffee pods and tea. Awesome big screen TV.
Apartment k was a wonderful experience for my first time in Reykjavik. The apartment was clean with all the utilities you could possibly need. The staff were absolutely phenomenal, especially Chloé the receptionist at the front desk, she was always helpful and friendly, and had plenty of insight on what to do and places to go see. I highly suggest this hotel.
Excellent location, right in the centre of the city. A few minutes walk to bus stop 6 for airport transfers or any excursion bus. No noise in apartment despite close proximity to the main high street. Excellent facilities, microwave oven, hob, toaster, sink, washing machine. Beautiful bathroom. Great space and lovely and warm! They also have a reception here which you wouldn't expect for an apartment where staff can help with any enquiries.
We stayed in the main building in Thingholt St. We stayed in a deluxe studio apartment (no. 44). It was absolutely lovely and we'll worth the money. Would definitely go back!
The staff are so friendly, professional, and helpful. The building is very clean and modern. Our apartment was AMAZING. It was spacious, modern, had fast WiFi, and a full kitchen. We wanted to move into our apartment we loved it so much! I would highly recommend Apartment K! Stay here!
It's almost a scam.
The actual location of the apartment is NOT the address shown on google map. Seems like they have a few locations. The apartment we got is 60 Lindagata, surrounded by half built houses covered with graffiti. It's 9 minutes walk from the location shown on Google map. 9 minutes walk is NOT just a walk when you have two tired kids, 4 heavy luggages, 2 backpacks with you. There are lots of choices and we booked this apartment because of its location, and this sole reason disappoint us big time. We felt deceived at our first trip to Iceland.
We were placed in the Design Den, a lovely studio with a small but well equipped kitchen as well as sofa, table, sleeping area and bathroom. The room was lovely, extremely comfy spacious bed and if we had been staying longer the kitchen would have been very useful. The bathroom was clean, modern and nice. The design of the room was modern and lovely. The hostel is located ideally for Reykjavik and the cost was reasonable for the area. The staff seemed really friendly but we didn't use any of the communal facilities so can't comment on those.
Ok Stay. Downstairs apartments are smaller than the pictures show. There's just one bed, so half the family had to sleep on the couch. Besides the fitted sheet on bed, there were only two small comforters, so we had to ask for more. Shower was very small and didn't have any shelves (had to put all soap and shampoo on the floor).
Ps, no laundry facilities in our rooms on the bottom floor. Although it was advertised to have them.
Very central to everything. Coffee shop down the street. Bed was extremely comfortable, and check-in was very easy. Our room had an extremely funky shower and the entire room was quirky. It's a perfect place for people looking to explore Reykjavik, perfect for couples. The see-through door into the bathroom doesn't make the location too family friendly, however that may have just been our room.
Pros: Room was big and spacious. Bed was made of foam. Kitchen had adequate cookware for preparing simple meals. Cons: Floor was dirty. Walking barefoot in the livingroom made the bottom of my feet black. Wifi connection was poor. We had difficulty getting signal. When we did, we were very restricted in what we could access. Facebook and Gmail worked fine. But Netflix, and more importantly, my airline website did not work. Made checking my flight itinerary impossible. Overall, it's an OK place for a quick overnight stay. But there are several faults that could easily be fixed if they just tried.
Great place to stay.
+ The staff were courteous and very helpful.
+ The room was clean and spacious.
+ Rooms come with washer/dryer combo unit (dryer doesn't work great, but clothes can be hung on the towel warmer for a quick dry) Bring liquid fabric softener if that's your thing, it will help when you have to hang your clothes to dry.
+ Rooms have an efficiency kitchen with a dishwasher. The freezer actually kept ice cream frozen, unlike so many hotel freezers out there.
- The appliances are not intuitive to operate (we had to download a user manual for the microwave/convection oven combo unit).
+ Location is perfect for Reykjavik. Close to shopping, restaurants, and night life. Most tours will pick you up at the front door as well.
- The rooms don't have great ventilation, so open the windows when you take a shower.
- The bathroom door is glass, so it doesn't do much as a door.
- Wash cloths are not provided so if you use them, bring your own.
Tips:
Bring a sleeping face mask if you're staying in the summer.
Bring something to make white noise, or earplugs if you want to sleep on the weekend.
Parking is free on the street on Sunday
We've stayed at Apartment K twice over the past year and a half. It's well situated in the downtown area of Reykjavik, has large rooms with all the typical amenities, nothing too fancy. Will stay here again.
Great location. David from reception was really informative and helpful. He assured our stay was welcoming. Less than 5 mins walk from the Grayline pickup for northern lights tour etc 10 mins walk to Harpa centre. The apartment had microwave oven. Tv. Couch. Fridge freezer, Washing machine with built in dryer. Electric hob, dishwasher. Hair dryer. Lots of wall power sockets. 2 behind the bed. Wifi is free and really good connection. We streamed football and didn't have any glitches on the wifi. On the downside apartment has poor lighting but could be acceptable for some. Tap water is drinkable !!!
Nice room, bed shower and stocked kitchenette, like an efficiency apt. With pots in the cupboard and comfortable bed in a little courtyard right where the fun is in town
Great location. Right in the centre. Great shower. Warm. Spacious. Good TV. Big bed. Only bad points: Toilet door was glass and doesn't close properly, no point having a door really. Bad tea bags, bring your own
Perfect location for our New Year Celebrations. Comfy bed, good wifi, loads of space and great access to city.
Some of the fittings and fixtures looking tired and need upgrading. I wouldn't describe it as luxury albeit has some creative fixtures.
Don't choose this if you are looking for somewhere quiet however if you want to see, hear and feel Reykjavik on your doorstep this place is perfect.
