The staff is very nice and helpful, the rooms and public areas are clean. It is very well in the city center. I would come back for sure.

The low rating was only because the carpeting in the room was poor. If that isbrenovatedJH would have a 5 star rating.

DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR GIRLS TRAVELLING ALONE OR IN SMALL GROUPS

The hostel itself was not as expected pertaining to basic cleanliness etc. HOWEVER, that was absolutely not our main issue.

On our second night our room was broken into (by a man who was definitely not a hostel guest) at around 3 am with the door locked and the key inside the lock. (Being just two girls we obviously had made sure that was the case for our own safety).

Having notified the staff, no one could come up with a better explanation than "maybe you forgot to lock the door, the lock might be broken" , and so on.

I made sure to provide several staff members with my contact details in order for someone to come back to us about the incident but nothing has happened so far and we dont really expect to be contacted anymore at this point.

What happened that night, thus shall remain a mystery till the end of all time.

Personally I'm glad nothing happened to either one of us and we got off with a scare, since, luckily, we had both been woken up by the intruder trying to make his way into our room.

I can only do as much as advise anyone who would rather avoid this kind of incident to steer clear and check out other options nearby.

I love this place. Not because of the great location but more of the nostalgic feel that drops the loosens the grip from the smart phone and makes me want to pick a book and head to the rooftop terrace. Real old school guesthouse.

Simple rooms, very basic (no closet).
    Very nice staff.
The only drawback for us was a lot of noise coming from the street, loud music and the train.

Location is great but be prepared for the city noise. Spacious rooftop lounge area. Lobby looks nice but rest of the place is not well maintained. Tub in room was in bad shape. Staff was not very knowledgeable of the area. Kitchen is very small. Communal washrooms were just gross.

Great location, just a 20-minutes walk from the Jaffa Gate. The room was clean and the sfaff was friendly, but the furniture was really, really old. No air conditioning meant that the room was very hot, and the ceiling fan was of no help. Loud street music outside provided a constant accompaniment until 22:00. Breakfast was very basic (salad, hummus, boiled eggs, and instant coffee) and self-served (guests are expected to wash dishes after themselves).

Terrible staff not accommodating to religious people at all - checkout was on shabbat - additionally they have set reception hours and do not really seem to know whats flying. As far as the rooms were concerned the entire establishment is beyond exhausted; this place is in serious need of a renovation or demolition and rebuilding. New management and staff might be a good idea too.

It's centrally located, good for budget accommodation, the rooms aren't of the highest standards, but it's ok, didn't like the breakfast, but there are plenty of options our in the streets.
