Staff are brilliant and very helpful, room we stayed in clean, but and this is a big but, the place needs a full decoration and a lot of work. I have a shed out my back that is used for storing tools. It has a leaky roof and a very dodgy floor and would be in better condition than the room we got for approx £100.00 a night, pay a bit more and go somewhere else, don't get taken in by the good photos they probably were taken 20 years ago, there is no bar area even though it looks like there is, our bathroom was approx 3m x1m that includes the shower, bedroom small wardrobe to hang clothes but no drawers to put anything else into basically you live out of your suitcase, breakfast was good as long as you are happy to eat as they eat breakfast, we found it good enough but others may not.
As I said the hotel is updated and definitely not up to the standard I would expect, but once again staff very helpful and place clean.response / report this review -

The staff were very polite, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good. Location great. On the downside, no elevator and our room was on high 3rd floor, room okay but small with no drawers, bathroom was a disaster: mold, peeling paint, sliding door which didn't close all the way and obviously with no lock, super tiny but had hot water! Definitely needs renovation.

the hotel is well located and close to public transportation. Beds are comfortable and the breakfast is simple and good. however, it does not have good sound insulation in the room. I woke up several times during the night by external noises, or chatting guests in the hall or bathroom exhaust noise from the other rooms.

Clean and tidy hotel. Close to tram (if it's not sabbat you can get there easily from e.g. Damascus gate / bus station) and in walking distance to the old city (just walk downwards along the tramline / shops and restaurants).
Really nice staff. First hotel on our trip where the receptionist took his time to explain and show us (on a map) the city + what we should / could do. This is not really common in that level of detail and was appreciated by us a lot.
We have no comparsion to other Israelic hotels so we don't know if it's good or bad compared to others around.response / report this review -

Location is good for this hotel. Toilet however is bad and really needs renovation and no elevator So if you like classic place to stay, then you can try this.

Ok value for money but Jerusalem is expensive. Quite run down, nearly no decoration on the rooms and old bathrooms. Very simple breakfast. Friendly staff. I would try somewhere else next time.

Old, disgusting, run down hotel. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there. I cannot even begin to say how much I hated my stay there. First of all, there is no elevator there, so I had to carry up my heavy suitcases myself three flights of stairs. Also there no parking in the whole area, only if you walk five minute there is a small lot which is almost always full, so if you come with a car, good luck managing with parking and schleping your suitcases through the streets of Jerusalem.
Then the room itself was tiny and very old and outdated. The shower is tiny, and the bathroom is very narrow, so if you have wide hips, you will have difficulties using the bathroom. The air conditioning took forever to cool the room, and rattled very loudly the whole night, which really disturbed my sleep, and then early in the morning construction started in the area, and essentially kept me up from 6 in the morning. Since they make their bookings non - refundable it is important people should know what they're getting themselves into.
I guess there's a reason they have a no refunds policy, once you see the room you will probably want a refund.
Also, the guy at check-in late at night was extremely rude and unhelpful to my situation as well.
There are much better hotels in the vicinity, this hotel is cheap for a reason - you get what you pay for.response / report this review -

It's a simple hotel, with a good price for its location. The employees are always nice and can speak in a very good english.

We stayed April 2016 9 days it was a great convenience and off the the Main Street. Was quite and peaceful. The staff were great. The front desk clerks were incredibly knowledgeable with detail about where and how to go anywhere in Israel. The only thing is missing is an elevator. I would definitely stay there again.

My experience at Palatin was great. The gentleman at the receptionist desk 'Shlomo' was very kind and accommodating to many questions that I had including: places to eat, places to visit, buses and public transportation that I could take to get to where I wanted, etc.
They will also help you by booking tours and reservations. They also booked my shuttle for me. They have maps for you, coupons and provide estimates for taxi and other services. The other staff were friendly as well, though my interaction with them was minimal. Rooms were kept clean. beds were made daily and towels changed.
The rooms themselves are small compared to what you might see in an average 'American' hotel, but I am not sure how them compare to typical hotels here. I personally am not a picky person about hotel room size. It has a bed for two people, a table for office/eating and a bathroom. That is plenty for me. There is no kitchen within the hotel.
Breakfast is typically provided and there are a number of restaurants around the hotel.
Buses and trains are really close and you are within 15-20 mins walk to the old city.response / report this review -

First I want to say that the staff was very kind and respectful. Also that the location is awesome smack in the middle of east Jerusalem which is a Arab community. West is Jewish. Now I will be honest because I feel it's important for any travelers to know if possible what they are booking in advance because there is no refunds. I booked for 5 nights there. I spent the day walking around it rained some. I returned in the late afternoon and my room was frozen the hotel hallways were freezing I could see my breathe. It took almost 3 hours for the room to warm enuff to shower. The heat was on hi. The heating did work but from that evening until the sun came up the next morning the room was cold. The bathroom was still puddled the next morning and I almost ended up on my rear end before having both eyes open. The breakfast pancakes were just about frozen I did get a hot egg from the cook. Before I showered the night before I booked a new place where I am now and am very grateful and comfortable. Jerusalem is a beautiful place. I mean no disrespect to anyone but losing out on my hard earned money does not feel right not like that. It is a beautiful building I'm sure with proper maintenance and tlc it will again be what it should be. Thank you God bless

Old run down but clean and cheap. Staff are friendly and front desk open 24 hours. Close to old city and markets for good food and night life.
