Super helpful staff, nice clean hotel. I'd recommend asking for a room at the front, for the view of the bay. Bus and train nearby, beach within walking distance. Not a huge choice of food for vegans but staff knew what was in the food and I enjoyed the chips and salad.
Loved this hotel, it is old but it is kept very clean. Room was spotless, staff were friendly. I will definitely stay here again.
Good view from front rooms of hotel, but rooms really need updating - soonest. Triple glazing and more sound-proofing between rooms required! If you sleep well, none of this should bother you. Rooms are a good size, and supplied with iron and hair dryer, plus tea making facilities - and beds are comfortable.
A little run down and in need of a refurbish, but the view was nice and the bed was comfy. Good value if you need somewhere to stay for a night or two. Some nice places to eat nearby, and convenient for the train. Shower was hot, room was warm!
The total ambiance of the hotel and the rooms give a poor impression, with furniture that is old and shows serious tear and wear.
The facilities on the ground floor were several degrees to cold to sit there comfortable. We noticed lots of people sitting with their coats on. The manager of the hotel recognized my complain, but this resulted in nothing.
On the room and hall was a breath taking smell of air refresher, that appeared to be sprayed every morning, also in the rooms. This was so heavy that we could not avoid “tasting” your refresher.
Breakfast: the quality of scrambled eggs and coffee was far below standard.
Good welcome at check in - very helpful with information on travel to city centre. Did not use restaurant other than for breakfast. Breakfast was ok - heavy on the full Irish but light on continental options.
We didn't bring to attention of staff because we were only staying one night and I'm sure management would know about it. Our window was broken and was nailed shut. We couldn't open it for air. Other than that I was delighted to see the beach across the road and took a little walk to actually be able to walk on it. Weather was dry and sunny. We had a car and found our way to our course easily. Breakfast was plentiful and very nice and gluten free bread was supplied. Thank you
Most of my dissatisfaction relates to our room. The bathroom was probably the worst I have ever had to look at. Almost all of the ceiling was black with mould. The bath panel on the side of the bath had ingrained dirt in the crevices. When I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night there were insects on the floor.
Our bedroom was on the first floor at the front of the building, which meant it was very noisy with heavy traffic all night. We were both awake at 4.00am. On the plus side we had a lovely view.
The bottom 2 ft of the curtains were badly stained from what looked like dampness or some sort of leak.
This hotel may have been a firm favourite 20 years ago but unfortunately it appeared that it also hadn't been updated or maintained in 20 years. We only stayed for B&B for one night so we weren't looking for luxury but when we saw our room was in the executive bedroom wing we thought we might be getting an upgrade until we got to the roomthe furniture in bedroom was so badly damaged, the carpets were dirty and the curtains were so badly stained and faded and had holes in many places, better to be found in a charity shop. The food was average but the saving grace was the very helpful and friendly staff. With the prices of hotels in Dublin City being so expensive I can see why this hotel was busy enough being more reasonably priced. The location is good for access to the 3Arena and ferry ports.
Had stayed at this hotel a few times in the past but this was the first time since it had been taken over. The customer service was excellent. All the staff we encountered during our stay were very helpful. Although we arrived mid-morning, as we were heading to a rugby match that was kicking off at 3pm, meaning we would not be there to check in at 2pm a room was arranged for us to get an early check in and the other was ready just before we left the hotel.
The hotel was very clean and tidy and all staff well presented and extremely helpful at all times. The carvery lunch was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.
The food needs improving.the beds are too higj for a disabled person.
When I was checking in everything was fine got the card to go to the room witch was on the 4 th floor when I entered the room the bathroom light was on and there was a jacket on the table which I thought was weird then I seen keys on the desk with some coins and then on the other desk there was drugs as in cocaine!! I didn't know what was happening and the bed seemed it had not been sleept in , I went straight back down to reception and told the girl she didn't really seem botherd she just gave me a different room, anyway after that I woke up the next morning and my back/shoulder was so sore! It was from the bed plus the room was really dusty I suffer with really bad allergies over all it was disappointing experience I'm still in pain with my back too , don't think I would recommend to anyone.
We recently stayed one night at Tara Towers. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. The breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay there and would definitely recommend it and would stay there again. Its also in a good location near RTE studios and St Vincent's Hospital. Also there is a bus stop right outside hotel.
The hotel is in excellent location for me. The room was comfortable and extremely clean. The food in the bar is very good. Im very disappointed in the breakfast array of food (really should consider having better layout and marked items). No milk jugs, sugar in the containers in the bar and restaurant were soaked, needs to be check regularly.
Staff very helpful. Room very specious and with very good smell. Bible in the bedtable, helpful. Free tea and coffee provided, which is great. Carpet really soft. The only issue was that we couldn't find the music channel on the telly. We reccomend. Very nice view.
