Good Price
Rooms very small but okay for a short trip
I liked to kitchen, where you can cook your own stuff a lot
Good service, the room was alright. The receptionist told us about a cheap car park near the hostel, so if you need directions just ask. Also, you can check out after 10 AM too, so don't rush the breakfast.
Clean and nice. Excellent location. Carry your own towels though. They charge 2 euro. Breakfast has serial, milk, bread, tea n coffee.
What many people don't know is that they have apartments too. These are actually very very nice, clean and new.
You share one toilet and one kitchen with another apartment next door. So it is very nice for two couples traveling together.
You can also use the free breakfast.
Very helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room. Breakfast limited to grains.
It was a good hostel located at a walking distance from the bus station. Also has a pick up facility for the day tours.
Very nice and clean rooms, good service, friendly staff. Only the breakfast could be better with more choice other than jam on toast.
The staff is super friendly and helpful, always willing to lend a hand and figure out fun stuff to do around town or visiting tourist attractions. They also allowed storing luggage for a few hours after checkout. The hostel itself is very tidy and clean, and the common rooms offer anything one might need. As for the guest rooms, they feel a bit cramped and the bunk beds don't allow sitting up straight, which is inconvenient as the bed is essentially the only private space one will have in a shared room. Dorms have their own bathrooms which is amazing. Free coffee all day was a blessing. I would definitely recommend this place!
Nice clean hostel. The kitchen is very big and well equipped for cooking. There is a nice sitting room for relaxing in and plenty of space in the eating area. Our room was for 4 so it had two sets of bunks, which were very comfortable. The room was very small but this did not bother us.
Stayed in the all female dorms while in Galway. Location was nice to be a little further away from the loud party night life that happens in Galway, but still really close to the city center to walk everywhere. The rooms where pretty basic, but clean and enjoyable. Enjoyed the large open common rooms to meet other people. It was great value!
I've stayed in a lot of hostels over the years. Never have I had such a poor experience as the one I had with Sleepzone. And I mean by far, and I've stayed in hostels paying 5€/night. I seriously don't know how it's so highly rated. When I log in to Hostelbookers, it displays a message saying I have already written a review. Maybe this is how? Fake reviews?
Pros: the staff was nice, even though some of them looked like they didn't know what they were doing. However, they don't ask you if you need help getting around, nor do they ask you if everything was ok at the end. I wish they had.
Cons:
1. When we arrived to our 4 BED DORM, 6 young girls were already there, when only two of them had booked the room. They were completely drunk, screaming and talking really loud and asking us to go party with them. They asked us if it was ok if we let them sleep on the floor when they got back at 4 a.m, that they would pay us for the night. We kind of thought they were funny, so we didn't mind. When they finally left, they left all the garbage in the floor, bottles everywhere and even spilled alcohol on the bedsheets.
2. The sheets, the pillow and the floor were stained with what looked like dirt, mud or poo. Oh, and usually you have the right to 2 sheets: one that covers the mattress, another to cover you and then the eiderdown or something. Well, here you only get one sheet and an eiderdown you're not even sure is washed.
3. The card reader at the front door of the hostel didn't work with our cards, and we had to ring the bell every time and enter after being shortly briefed (which is something good if only it stopped intruders from entering the premises, which it didn't)
4. THE NOISE. On the second night, there were young people, again, totally wasted, screaming (and I MEAN SCREAMING!) and slamming doors at 2 a.m. We had to get up and warn them 3 times to no use, which was the hostel's job, not the guest's. They only stopped when someone from the reception came, hours later. Still, we couldn't sleep for 3 hours.
5. Also, the policy of no drinking in rooms looks very pretty on the wall but it is NOT enforced. Everyone was carrying bottles and cups up and down the stairs. Our room had bottles everywhere.
6. The wifi was terrible. A simple google search took hours to complete.
7. The showers. Jesus, the showers. There was no warm water the second day. And you have to press the button every 5 seconds (not exaggerating) to keep water running. The sink is like 10cm wide, washing your face or teeth means washing the floor as well.
8. The bunk beds are so shortly bunked you can't even sit without hitting your head. And the top one has a protruding wall where I kept hitting my head as well. I also injured myself getting out of bed several times, because the stairs were so narrow (and I'm skinny).
9. The breakfast is terrible, you can only choose from toasts (and the butter is margarine) or milk and corn flakes that come through a dispenser that crushes them to dust.
I don't remember anything else. In short, it was, I daresay, a terrible experience. I hope the management takes this to note and does something to improve the quality of the hostel. We payed 65€ for two nights, 2 people, not very cheap considering the conditions.
The place is good to sleep (I was in a roop of two people). But the free breakfast is really really bad (just cheap bread). Also, the Galway tour was supposed to take us from this point but if was gone before the time indicated on the website (I recommend to go to the bus coach directly).
But the location was very good.
Great place to stay. Close to the centre of Galway, beautiful lounge and kitchen, free breakfast and kind staff. Highly recommended!
Nice location, near downtown which can be reached by 10 minutes by feet.
Staff is very kind and helpful.
Rooms are colored, clean but without bed sheets and each room has his own bathroom without towels.
Each floor has a router, so you can connect to WiFi without moving from your room.
In the morning there are a few things (such as bread, butter, coffee and tea) to prepare breakfast.
