Second time we were in the area and unlucky again! God, please send me to Sligo in summer :))
Unfortunately, we came in the off season and weren't able to take any tours. The grounds, the castle, and the sprawling lake cradled by mountainous hills we're stunning all by themselves. Worth a quick stop on our trip.
Beautiful location, impressive castle, friendly guides, steep stairs and a boat trip too!
Lovely visit, castle is well worth visiting. It was free with good guide for each room. Also a boat tour leaves that passes inishfree islands from right outside the castle. Good parking and friendly atmosphere. However, need a harness for babies as a lot of stairs to navigate
Lovely view from here. Was outside visiting
Very informative. Good tour and film.
Enchanting place. The Yeats poetry tour boat leaves from here. Do check out this lovely castle on this gorgeous lake.
Guides very helpful, very reasonable price, information on the history of the castle and surrounding areas.
The complete history of this location is so interesting that I wish the tour went on for another hour. The tour includes out buildings and the living quarters of the Parke family and then goes outside and see the footprint of the original castle owned by o'Rourke.
O'Rourke was executed by the British for helping a survivor from a Spanish Armada shipwreck.
Off the beaten track. If you can use the time to do a boat trip at the same time.
Beautiful location onthe shore of Lough Gill. The self-guided tour won't take you long but it's quite interesting and the lady at reception was very friendly and helpful.
