Very good food, but massive portions. Would recommend but quite expensive. Some of the staff are very friendly and some are not!

If you are planning to mostly party around and don't care about your sleeping place, this is your stay.
Otherwise you will not feel comfortable.

First of all: this hostel is located in the temple bar district. (You only walk two minutes to the famous temple bar pub.)
There are many pubs in this area, but they are pretty expensive (you will have to pay something like 7-8€ p.Beer/liquors are around 5€)

To the hostel itself. The entrance of the hostel is a bit hard to find, because the st. Gogarthy house are actually three businesses, as it seemed.

With 20 mates we booked two complete dorm rooms.

Some infos to the dorm rooms:
8 beds, one bath with a shower and toilet, and a lockable bed box for each bed.

The first thought, looking into these rooms, was: Dirty and old. We had some trash in the closet from our predecessors. The bath was also a bit dirty.

There were almost no reachable power sockets, so we mostly had to use powerbanks while in bed.

The next negative thing was the ventilation inside the rooms: to prevent people from falling out of the window, the windows were locked after opening it for around 5cm. There was barely any fresh air getting inside.
(Outside temperature was around 15°C, inside it felt like 25°C-27°C)

Another factor of which you should think of is the sound of drunk people coming from the streets. Fortunately this normally stops at 02:00-03:00 in the morning, because most pubs are closing by that time.

The beds were OK, but some metraces were dirty from below.

In the morning there is a small free breakfast available. Here you were able to get yourself some toast with sweet toppings (just sweet toppings) some muesli, a breakfast soup and some premixed salad. We quickly decided to buy our own stuff from the nearby supermarket.
There is also a guest kitchen, where you can prepare your own meals, but only two of 8 heaters were barely working. We needed around two hours to make spaghetti bolognese for 10 people. (Water and sauce was barely cooking and the meat needed nearly 40 minutes in the pan)

One day we found out, that there is a terrace an bungalow-like apartments on the roof of the hostel. But when we got up there one evening to enjoy the view of the city (pretty good up there) a angry security came to us. And forced us rudely to go back down.
Not the nice way. :(

All in all, it was even for a hostel a bit too dirty. But when it has to be cheap and central, this is your stay :)

I spent 21 days here in August 2017. In room 37. With 10 beds. I was able to meet people from other countries an learn about how thing are. The breakfast was filling. Yes, it is in the heart of Temple Bar area. You are within minutes of walking to places to eat, drink, shopping an you can catch a bus down at the corner. You can take a bus from the Airport to Dublin central. The bus stop is only 3 blocks from the hostel. I will stay here again on my next visit to Dublin Ireland.

It'd be better place, as it's located at the heart of temple bar. The staff doesn't treat equally all his guests. As this is an Italian managed, or owned, they give preferences to their nationals. I don't recommend it for Black skin.

Worse experience in temple bar ever ld advise not to visit manager a complete mess not sure if he was drunk high or didn't care he was there at all was very rude..and ruined my time there .will never go again and advise same to other people. .

I loved this hostel. It is just a block from Temple Bar and in the middle of all the action in Dublin. The food and fun at the pub and restaurant is great craic.

Waited way too long for the food,which was not worth it anyway. It wasn't tasty at all-like from a cheap canteen,or worse. We asked if the meal for our little girl was spicy, we were told no. However when we got the meal, it was a bit spicy and the sausages tasted horrible. We also did not get the potatoes to steak and after asking twice we got it at the end of the food. We thank for them as it was too late but still had to pay for it. We left the place still hungry and less 70e.The only one good thing to say about the place is live irish music.

Very clean, felt safe, was within walking distant of everything we wanted to do in Dublin plus has a restaurant/bar attached. Also free continental breakfast in the morning was really good.

You get what you pay for. Not bad of a place to stay for a night if you are on a budget. The breakfast spread was really really good for a backpackers place though!

Well, the kitchen was usable and the bed was adequate, but the bathrooms were dirty and the service was indifferent.
Also, quite loud. We did expect the volume, being in the center of temple bar district, but it was a bit much in the wee hours of the morning.
Still altogether not unpleasant.

€7.55 for a pint of lager at 5PM on a Tuesday Evening? This has to be the most expensive pub in Ireland? The lager was flat as well. The staff aren't too friendly either. I will never darken the door of this pub again. Much better and cheaper places within an 800 meter radius

On or way to the toilet after a drink my friend got grabbed and pinned up the wall and threatened by rape and being cut, inside of the bar, and he held her without releasing her. I went to tell security asap to please remove the guy but got told to "get out of here" by security. After a few minutes of this guy holder her so she wasn't able to get away, we managed to get across the road, were the security person proceed with standing on the corner not taking any action what so ever.

Completely shaken up and disgusted by the way this situation was treated

We had the apartments on top of Oliver St. Gogarty's, and they couldn't have been nicer. It was probably the best sleep I got on the trip! There was always someone at the front desk to help us, and the location couldn't have been more perfect.

1 receptionist was friendly, other 2 argued about a broken shower & were curt/rude AF.

One plug in for 10 man room. Showers, floors in rooms and bathrooms filthy, bring shower shoes. No ventilation in rooms, had someone in bed I rented and was informed "its fine they're only staying one more night".

Public restrooms (3 toilets) clogged and no soap. Highly recommend for the adventurous type who wants to flirt with highly communicable diseases.

Plus side: did luggage storage prior to check in for free, which was greatly appreciated!!

They do have a kitchen but was closed at night, never saw it open since we left early in morning.
