Great-escape place to nature for sunny weekends where you can spent hours of walking around and even through the woods on hidden paths.

Been in Galway from long time but never visited the wood, one of the even gave me opportunity to visit the woods and loved it. Very nice cycling track and walking track and very quite environment. You can see many spices of birds as well.

A diverse woodland habitat with many species of wildlife such as red squirrels , butterflies , orchids also many historic features within the trails and walkways .A great place for cycling, family walks and to escape the noise and pollution of traffic . It is the largest an oldest urban woodland within Galway city boundary , located on the Eastside of the city , access to parking is in Doughiska in the Merlin Woods City Park and Merlin Lane. Wheelchair access also available at these locations
