We spent an afternoon in Hayfield Manor to celebrate my sister's graduation. Unfortunately from start to finish my family and I don't feel we received 5 star treatment.
It started with the booking. The booking for the table was made many weeks prior. A couple of days before the event my mother, who made the booking, recieved an email confirming a cancellation. This cancellation was not made by us and the staff at Hayfield Manor could not explain why this had happened. Not much of an apology was made for the system error that caused alot of worry! The booking was remade.
On arrival to the manor, we were not greeted and made our own way to our table. The starters were ordered, many guests at the table ordered soup. Butter was provided, but no bread. When we alerted staff, they apologised but did not then bring any bread down. The starters and desserts were faultless otherwise however the main courses were very much average. Roast beef was on the menu and on ordering this option staff did not ask how we would like it done so we assumed it would be slices of cooked beef. A rare steak was brought down. Some of the guests were quite upset with this and had to ask that the meat be returned to be cooked further. My mother, who asked for the meat well done was given back the meat cooked medium and did not feel comfortable enough to ask again so could not eat it. I understand that some feel meat should be cooked a certain way however guests should be given the option. The other main courses were nothing special, chicken was bland and salmon was not the freshest.
We were then served just one round of the teas and coffees, which were lukewarm at best.
It is not a cheap place and we went here for a celebration but do not feel the price reflected the service.
Many of the wait staff were fantastic and attentive but other aspects let them down.
The manor and grounds are stunning however, I would think twice before booking a meal here if you are looking for 5 star quality
Had my sons graduation lunch.the little extras were fantastic personalised menu congratulations from hayfield manor platewritten in chocolate with same and lunch beautiful
Luxury at its finest. Didn't want to leave. Only thing it needed was more charging outlets in the room.😊 Then again, maybe there was a reason for that. We felt like the king and queen coming down the front stairs to the lobby. Highly recommend.
A fantastic hotel. You get what you pay for. Gardens are wonderful too. Top notch food and service. Highly Recommend.
Was an absolutely beautiful place. Service was true to what a 5* location should be. Ate dinner at the in hotel restaurant and was spectacular. Room service was very prompt and had a very large breakfast selection the following morning. I would most certainly choose to stay here again in the future.
Hayfield Manor is fantastic in nearly every way. The staff are excellent, the food is fantastic and the rooms are very comfortable. My only gripe is that the beds are a bit too rigid. I would definitely recommend Hayfield to anyone looking for an old time Manor experience with modern amenities.
Had dinner in restaurant, beautiful and contemporary airy room. Food was disappointing for massive prices. Fish was over cooked and starter was less imaginative. Need to really concentrate on food preparation and quality and forget about uniqueness until they are right. Staff were very friendly.
My husband and I stayed here for a night on our honeymoon in January. We can not say in words how amazing this hotel was. Every detail was thought of, including a personal note and Champaign with strawberries sent to our room by Max. The rooms were absolutely breathtaking and we loved the food at the restaurant. The only regret we have is not being able to stay longer!! We are already planning another trip to Ireland and will definitely be staying at the Hayfield for a majority of our trip next time. Thank you to all the staff for making our honeymoon amazing and something we will be able to look back on for years to come with very fond memories! Crissy & Erik
My 4th visit to Hayfield Manor. It's always a lovely treat. Beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Their afternoon tea is beautiful with a lovely selection to choose from. Would definitely recommend.
We adored this hotel. Definitely one of our favorite stays while in Ireland. The staff was excellent and the hotel was beautiful. It had a nice quaint gym we were able to exercise in, and the pool is gorgeous. We ate dinner at the nice restaurant while we stayed there and it's equally first-class. The rooms were great, clean and spacious. I was actually impressed with the bathrooms, the showers were very nice and large!
