Absolutely brilliant bar. We had a great time there when we stayed in Clon. Can't wait to visit Ireland again soon and go there.

Small front bar with live harp music for our afternoon drink. Was cosy and inviting. There is a bigger bar up the back which looked great for some late night drinking and music.

Lovely pub. Great atmosphere. Incredible staff. Awesome live music. Fantastic Guinness. Looking forward to going back to Clonakilty and especially De Barra again soon.

An institution in music. I mean how many pubs can claim that Noel Redding played there every Friday night for yonks and Paddy Keenan used to sit session here?
Always something going on and an attraction for characters
But surely the best thing is lunchtime. Best Toasted Special deal in town. On brown or white chock a block with a choice of filings (chicken, ham and cheese being the main choice) and then filled up with more cheese, onion, pineapple, tomato and peppers. Accompanied by chips and salad (chips as in: real potatoes cooked fried!) or a big bowl of the daily soup and then (of course) see the board for the daily specials.response / report this review -

One of the best joints in Ireland. Great food, great atmosphere. Popular location on the main drag in Clonakilty. Your trip is not complete without stopping by and havinf a well-earned pint - or two.

I found it to be very clicky so found the staff didn't have a lot of time for new customers choosing instead to speak with other staff and locals.
They have a small selection of craft beers, mainly from Cork and are pricier than most by about €1 per beer which is a lot.
Saying all that, there is a nice atmosphere here mainly due to the customers. I've had many an enjoyable conversation with locals and tourists alike.
It's very old world charm with a bit of a contemporary feel to it due to the great music venue out back. The walls are adorned with photographs of many famous and not so famous musicians who have played here.
The toilets are a massive let down. I shared a table with 3 ladies who asked if they could sit at the spare seats. They were disgusted by the smell coming from the gents. They try to make up for this by burning a scented candle all the time, but it's obviously isn't working.
If they could get the staff to engage with customers more, review their pricing and sort the toilets out it would be a fantastic place.response / report this review
