Fantastic food, cosy atmosphere and incredible staff. You couldn't fault it if you tried to! And the icing on the cake was how €3 from our main courses was donated to help the relief work supporting Mexico after there earthquake! One of my top restaurant in Cork City.

One of the only Mexican restaurant in Cork, good for an starter but if you know a bit about Mexican dishes, you will notice that this is not truly mexican food. Thought, It's not too bad but it's not an special place to eat. For vegetarians options are not so big if you don't count the starters (which are almost all vegetarian, I have to say) you'll have the vegetarian fajitas, the vegetarian salad or you can try and order one of the other dishes without meat (they can do that for some of them).

Fab ambience.. friendly staff and good portion sizes. We enjoyed our meal. They have made an effort to give everything a Mexican touch.

Not sure if it was an off night but my experience at Cafe Mexicana was quite disappointing. I was impressed by the great reviews this place previously received but our meal did not live up to the hype. Watered down drinks (including a mojita that tasted like it was made with 7up); "homemade" sangria that came from a cooking wine jug; rice was hard and dry; Chicken was dry; refried beans were tasteless. It may be the only "good" Mexican place in Cork but I'd recommend skipping it if you're looking for a non-Irish dinner.
