Gorgeous little hotel, we've stayed here twice now. The food is unbelievable. The staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend renting a bike for the day. It's 15 per person but so worth it. Go for a cycle around the forest area. Ask for the oars and use their little row boat to sail around the lake. Amazing views and scenery. Best for adventure lovers who love the outdoors and nature.

Hi Gougane Barra Hotel is a most beautiful place and has the most brilliant staff and they really take care of everyone and make sure their stay is fantastic .

Perfect - straight out of the 1950s, fantastic service, only thing missing was Miss Marple sitting in the corner!

It is a family run business with that ability to ensure you are well looked after. It exceeded its three star ratings. So good we have already made a booking for next year.

Quiet family-run hotel. Good food. Not all rooms wheelchair accessible. Simple rooms, spotlessly clean but a bit dated. Loved it and friendly athmosphere. Would happily return.

Did NOT STAY in hotel but used common rooms. Hotel itself looks like a most pleasant building but its the environs that gladden the heart deeply.
Stunningly beautiful location in a quiet lake-filled wooded valley with probably THE most picturesque small chapel in Ireland. There are walks from 1 km to 10 km, & Peace comes dropping slow here.
Entire place very busy during summer & gift shop, cafeteria & restaurant adjacent to hotel can be quite crowded during peak times.response / report this review -

We stayed in Ireland for 8 days, at a different hotel each night, and Gougane Barra was by FAR our favorite. We're a little obsessed with it. It is so beautiful there, it's seriously out of this world. If I could change one thing about our vacation, we'd have stayed at Gougane Barra for several more days! The scenery is amazing even just looking out your bedroom window, and there are beautiful walks you can take around the grounds and through the forest. The staff is also extremely kind and friendly, and the food is delicious. Highly recommend!!
