Achill Island - magnificent in its remote beauty - has one problem: an absolute dearth of any 3 or 4 star hotels. This particular hotel is a rare gem. The location is perfect facing the uncommonly pretty cathedral cliffs in Keel, close to whatever few amenities one could wish for in an area such as this. The staff are friendly & most helpful, the rooms comfortably adequate & well equipped. The real treasure - for Achill Island - is their restaurant. Now, besides the superb Beehive delicatessen - an epicurean oasis in this rugged landscape - there are no quality restaurants - IMHO - on the Island. This hotel however has one that would decimate many high class eateries in Dublin or any other city. The menu is remarkably extensive, fresh & perfectly prepared to ensure rich full flavours. From the starters to the desserts the dishes are really remarkably good. One wouldn't think so at first glance however. No beautifully arrayed Zen like elegant presentations here. This is superb wholesome food bursting with flavours presented in an unpretentious manner where optics are subservient to gustatory experiences as is indeed often the case with great food. There is no better place to enjoy the sublime optics of the cathedral cliffs while partaking of the superb cuisine in this hotel.Â

Convenient but not the best place. Has decent restaurant, rooms are clean but rather cold. No proper ventilation in the bathroom (only window and it was too cold to open).

Very nice stay here. Pleasant staff and very comfortable room. Restaurant here is probably the best in Achill itself so I highly recommend getting the deal that includes the meal from this hotel
