I checked in at the hotel on 9th May 2018 and was given a room on 6th floor. When the elevator reach the 6th floor, the smells of an old carpet stung my nose. And when I reached the assigned room, there was a small cockroach on the washbasin.
We requested to move to another room and we were sent to another room on different floor. But for the next 3 days we saw another 3 cockroachs. You can see the picture of cockroach we found in the bathroom, in the bedroom and in the restaurant next to vegetables basket during our breakfast.
Those experiences surely makes my wife and daughter frigthen to dead because they are afraid of cockroach. And I even can't tell my wife that I saw a cockroach in the restaurant.

The worst thing was we came along with our 5-weeks baby, the sanitary and cleanness of this hotel are surely need a very close attention.

I never had a chance to inform the receptionist during our check-out process due to our tight schedule.

Thus experiences make me think more than 100 times to come again to this hotel and I think my wife and my daugther won't come again.

Stayed here for 2-night stay with a friend. We stayed on the 20th floor. The view is great. The breakfast menu is super complete. However, I think the TV needs to be upgraded. I mean, this is 2018 and who watches tube-TV now, especially it is a 4-star hotel. Overall, the stay was great despite the TV.

Hall room of garden palace is so huge and beautiful.
Comfortable for organize some event here.
Toilet disparate between women and man.
Location easily to reach. Close to Surabaya's square town.
The staff is friendly.

Saat dapet undangan gathering di resto Garden Palace Hotel saya antusias banget (karena belom pernah kemari juga soalnya). First impression saat masuk lobby badan langsung adem karena AC nya disetting full (mungkin).
Lanjut ke resto yang ada di sebelah kiri lobby saya ngerasa "wah". Karena mulai dari makanan khas Indonesia seperti serabi, kolak, gudeg, rawon, opor, onde-onde, dan bahkan gorengan juga ada. Japanese, ada sushi, acar khas Jepang. Turkish, kebab dan martabak. India, roti cane, kare. Sampe Western menu pun ada. Kenyang dek pokoknya saya dan rombongan. 😁

I went there not for staying, just try their buffet. It has a great & nice hospitality, they are so friendly, they even remembered our name. Delicious buffet. Lots of variety from Chinese food, Indonesian food, western food, & Japanese food. Nice ambient, and taste is great.

Now, it's better. However, not expecting much. Their dining table setting is still without knife. Only fork and spoon. They don't even provide matched spoon for your soup. They are also inexperienced in hosting a cocktail or fine dining events.

Good old hotel. In the middle of the city, near Surabaya plaza and Tunjungan Plaza (and Zangrandi ice cream right at the entrance) The room are quite big for the price (unlike the newer hotels). The rooms need some modernization; still have that big control panel in the middle for turning off lights, air con, tv (changing channel as well, it's a relic from the past where tv remote was non-existent I guess). The inside of the room do look old (and it's actually old).

Worst hotel stay ever. Five reasons why:
1. Water in bathroom was yellow-chocolate in color, clearly filthy, so I couldn't shower
2. I was stuck abruptly in the hotel elevator during blackout
3. Wifi in the room doesn't work
4. Hotel staff was slow to react when I complained (waited 30 mins with no empathy nor alternatives to my room)
5. Hotel wasn't willing to refund my stay

Had to ask for a bathroom floor towel, and the towel was taken away after room service, and had to ask again for it. Hair dryer is available but very weak, making it almost unusable.

Room is next to a busy street, a very loud siren would go off every time a pedestrian crosses the street.

Walking distance to convention center, groceries and malls, though walking is not recommended for all.

The Air con was so dirty. I felt suffocated here. The bathroom was smelly. The bed was a little bit wet. The lightings werw so dark. Not a baby friendly hotel. Only can last 4 hours here bfore I check out to find other hotel. Sorry
