While at Sitting Buddhait was like we were in midst of clouds. Thanks to amazing weather; it could not have been better. There are 268 steps to climb up to this excellent spot. Please give your self one complete day for enjoying this experience peacefully. The souvenir shop below the Buddha statue is a rip-off and you can by same stuff at one-tenth the price at shops near the cable car terminal.

that's amazing place, the opportunity to see the clear beautiful face of gigantic Buddha statue was so great experience, because it will depend on the weather condition in each day, each season or even particular timing period within the day.

in Chinese monastery, there has vegetarian food canteen. the taste was so nice and delicious.

there still has some interesting attraction spots within monastery vicinity.

Hot! Bring an umbrella or wear a hat, the white concrete reflects the sun back to you. The Buddha was great though and the grounds were really nice. To be honest, I wish I had researched Buddhism more before going, I feel like the trip would have meant more that way.

Definitely a wonderful experience to travel by cable car to this place. Very spiritual if you are god fearing and not plenty to climb the stairs. Was very windy and chill to do it during winter season. Don't expect to eat or drink near the area. I see many visitors try to do it only to be reminded by someone. Especially kids. So bear in mind to respect the place. Enjoy the climb and visit.

If it's your first time to be here, you gotta have love this one! Don't take the crystal option for cable cars in the Ngong Ping 360 as there's nothing much to see below. It's just a shade of greens and hills. However, if you don't want to experience the long queue, this option is the best for you.

Go to the temples, climb the giant Buddha, learn history, enjoy the view, the food and everything, take pictures of the attractions, meet people. What more can you ask for? Oh, perfect selfies! ❤

Great "must do" place to visit. Take the ngong ping sky cable car and get a great view while you ride up the mountain. Be prepared to climb stairs! But it is worth every step.

What a great place!! One method is to take the gondola up. The other is to take the bus -- #23. The bus will add almost an extra hour but it is the more cost effective option. This place is free! You don't have yo pay to go up to see the buddah! Only if you want to go inside it. You can go an explore the temples around this area. There is also a hike you can do. There are cows, and other neat attractions around the area. Afterwards you can take another bus to visit the fishing village at east end of the island. I arrived before the Buddha opened to the public at around 8 am. It was very peaceful and was able to enjoy the wandering dogs, temple, and hike without the crowds of tourists. Would recommend!!

A great experience to climb the steps of the Buddha and experience the view is one of the best things I did while traveling in Hong Kong. It is about an hour subway and tram car ride to the Tian Tan Buddha from Kowloon Park. But it is very easy to get there. From the Buddha you can see for miles, the monastery and the Ling Po village. In the village there are shops and restaurants to buy souvenirs, snacks, and lunch or dinner. You can even get a vegetarian meal at the monastery. I definitely recommend seeing the Buddha as it is an easy half day or day trip for you to do.

Very easy to scoot over here, and a good walk around the area. Impressive cable cars up the mountain - a nice long trek. Get the crystal cabin and order tickets online to beat some of the rush. Try out the monestary vegetarian meal while you're up in the mountain good cheap food. Bring cash.

With your active-wear and joggers on, this is a great place for a weekend getaway. After a mesmerizing breathtaking view from Ngong Ping 360 gondola ride, Tian Tan Buddha has scenic, long hiking trails, and long stairs to the Buddha. I loved the souvenir, arts and crafts shops up at the Tian Tan Buddha. Loved being here!

Big Buddha is one of the world's most famous Buddha statues and when you see it in person, you understand why. An enormous staircase leads up to the statue, which sits upon a lotus flower base at the very top of this beautiful tree-covered mountain. The gigantic statue is sitting in a peaceful pose as six female statues kneel around the base, with offerings in their hands. What made this experience even more special was the view from the top as well as the temples and elaborate gates of the Po Lin monastery at the bottom of the staircase. The cab ride took almost 1 hour from the airport, but the experience is definitely worth it.

Fairly impressive statue with a nice view. If you've been to other Buddhist countries this might not be all that interesting but it is nice to pair with the cable car and there's some temples, statues, shops and scenery around that you can check out and enjoy as well (although its a bit on the touristy side). There is the option to go inside which we didn't do so can't comment on that.

Incredible place where the spiritual strength of the temples is tangible, even if surrounded in a touristic, commercial atmosphere. Better to plan a full day to visit this place. To get to the peak The Cable car is convenient, but there are also some amazing trail paths of various length that pass through the forest. Anyway for walkings, additional trails start from the peak.

Loved this Big Buddha statue, 200 steps to the statue, rope way (cable car) taking us to the island is so scenic. Definitely a must go place in Hong Kong.

Nice thing to combine with the peak tram in one day, some line ups here for the gondola especially coming down but the minor wait was worth it. I found two things especially interesting: the construction details of the Buddha and the cows on the way there. Seriously the cows were so friendly and happy. Give them a pet and they want to lick the salt off your arms, they really go to town if you let them.

One of the incredible places that Hong Kong has to offer! Beautifully crafted on the hills. Superb view and a lot of trails that adventures people can enjoy trekking on. People can enjoy the cable car too! Opened until 5:30pm!

Incredibly impressive. Lovely area, even when it's cloudy outside! It's well worth the trip, the tourism hasn't taken away the place's charm. Stay away from the Walking With Buddha tour though.

Amazing experience. The Buddha statue is huge and sits on a hillside, and takes some time to get to from Hong Kong but well worth it. The cable car to the village and even the monastery were also great attractions. I'd encourage everyone to climb the stairs to the top!

The Tian Tan Buddha is positioned on the hillside facing out to the sea and is visible at some distance. To get there you can take the bus from Tung Chung Station however on the route back you may need an umbrella to avoid baking in the sun as you queue and wait for a return bus. Alternatively you can take the cable car but you will have to traverse the tourist town upon arrival.

It's a good climb to the top but once there you will be provided with amazing views of the surrounding countryside as well as the ability to walk around and inside the statue.

A good day out and lots of places for refreshment and prayer.

Beautiful scenery and peaceful location. Taking the cable car is a must with those outstanding views. You can have a great view of airport up there. The only negative is that everyone wants to make money out of youfor example a on pic is charged at $300 (HK). Also just take standard cable car as the view is the same except not seeing through the floor of the car.

Liked it very much, you will visit there by cable car which is 5.2 kilometers long and near about 600 meter high, there is a stunning view of hills, river, airport, bridge on South China Sea. And at last but not the least you will see Big Buddha which is 24 meters in height.
Another thing is there is a trail at hills, you may also go for Big Buddha by trails but definitely you should be in very good shape of your body.

This place is one of the highlights of our Hong Kong trip. Getting here is not easy, it involves a lot of climbing, a cable car ride, and travelling from the city centre, but reaching the Buddha statue is absolutely worth it. The place is serene and beautiful, giving you a mountain view of the greenery and the monastery nearby.

When we visited, we were literally among the clouds. Loved the experience.

Protip: Make sure to check the weather and bring an umbrella/raincoat when visiting this place, as it is out in the open.

Expensive but truly spectacular. I looked at the stairs and decided it was way to many steps for me so took a walk around the trails. Personally this gave me far superior views and allowed me to avoid the tourist routes. Recommend sturdy footwear and to be steady on your feet if heading into the park.

Relatively new installment that seems to be flooded with tour package options but the views and images from the top (and bottom) are worth while. Went in a group and we had a great time hiking around and exploring the buddha as well as the local countryside and fishing village. You can take up the cable car or a bus for a more economical option. Make sure to check out the Po Lin monastery nearby. Note that good options are 100% vegetarian so be aware.

The views from on top are so worth climbing those steps. It was breathtaking and I felt this sense of calm after I got all the way up. We bought a meal ticket and the food prepared by monks was amazing! I recommend you ask to be directed around back of restaurant to purchase their huge vegetable stuffed breads. And do visit the dessert counter for some sweets after your meal even if you're full. It's really worth it! I'm glad I did. We took the crystal cable car back and yes the view from under is worth it as well. Only down is you will be seated with whoever else is in line for it as well as they try to be efficient and avoid long lines to reduce wait time. But it's cool. Everyone has a blast being mesmerized by the overwhelming beauty the scenery has to offer. I highly recommend this tour, next time I think I'll hike it though.

So amazing! Definitely worth the 30-45 min bus ride (each way) and 11 story staircase! :-). Be sure to go on a clear day, during the week (less traffic), and that the air gondola is functioning (makes the trip to and from the Buddha more efficient). Enjoyed every moment of the visit! Safe travels!
