As usual it's a chill place, although it's a Sunday and there was a lot of people, they did their best to keep their voice low so it was very comfy.
We ordered strawberry milkshake and iced honey apple tea. Both were good, especially the milkshake, so fresh and not so sweet.response / report this review -

Cool, chilled bookstore/cafe. A variety of Chinese and English publications. The food and local beers are good. Deliberately has no Wi-Fi to encourage human interaction which is always a plus! Still lots of people in there doing work. I had some interesting squid ink pasta which was tasty!

No WiFi so don't come looking to do any work while here. It's a neat concept attached to a small cinema and bookstore. Some great quality coffee and the food was pretty good as well. We ordered the quinoa salad and prosciutto sandwich (cheap on the meat) but overall a cool place to relax and read a book.

UPDATE : NO WIFI, they have the radical idea of people talking to each other, see photo of notice Feb2018 ------Bookshop with all sorts of UNusual stuff, + ---- Cafe with a small range of meals like pasta, and a good range of coffee & tea, etc., a little bit more pricey than most cafes, but heys its very unusual in HK to find this kinda place. Bookshop is a real bookshop not just for mass market high turnover sales.
Service can be slow at times - they have a note that says 25mins or so at peak times. More staff might help???

Cosy and relaxing place with a decent collection of books on philosophy, literature, cinema etc. (really good by hk's standards of "bookstores"). The atmosphere is very nice, great place to sit down and get things done on a weekend. My only complaint is that the food is really quite overpriced for what it is.

Tucked away in the back streets of Yau ma Tei, this cafe and bookshop is amazing. It has a creative buzz and a very mixed clientele. People are here for the cinema, books and coffee in a great space. You even get bespoke chocolate drawings on your plate!

This place calls for patience. Not that they are slow. No, it is just busy and sometimes you need time to get a table. People are very friendly and helpful though and it is possible to reshuffle tables and chairs. The food and coffee is very good and a combination of western and Chinese. A crossover if you like. There is s bookshop and health shop attached and also the Broadway Cinematheque with film and poster kiosk. Pretty impressive selection of art house posters and films.

A really great place to sit and read for an hour or so and the bookshop/record store are pretty amazing. The latte was good, but nothing to write home about and took a solid 25 minutes so better if you’re going to sit around than if you want a quick cup.

A real bookshop, a nice café, and a cinema. Very cozy and attractive. The tables are arranged for eating though -- it is not your ideal place to scribble a book or work on the proofs, while it could have been.

bookshop with all sorts of unusual stuff, cafe with all the vegetarian and gluten etcfree things, coffee etc., lots of wifi users , a little bit more pricey than most cafes, but heys its very unusual in HK to find this kinda place. Bookshpp is real bookshop not just for mass market.

Magnificent spot to enjoy a lunch surrounded by books and a great atmosphere. Also a book shop with an extensive collection of literature. In addition, it includes a cute, albeit a bit expensive, shop, a cinema, and a cornershop for films and music. If you're in HK for an extended time period, consider paying about HK$100 for a membership lasting a year, giving you up to two free movie tickets and discount on everything in Kubrick. You can also rent books!

Great light enhances the beatnik atmosphere of this cafe/book store. A fantastic place to go for great hand drip coffee, a tasty meal or dessert. The sign on the door says "no wifi here" because the idea is that people go there to get offlineand converse with one another or lose themselves in a good book.

As a book store, the selection is small and caters heavily to the 文青 (young self-proclaimed artists), and the prices aren't competitive (it's cheaper to order on Amazon and have the books shipped to Hong Kong).
As a cafe, it serves decent coffee at prices that dwarf even Starbucks. They make a good hamburger, although it is pricey for what it is.
The best thing about the establishment is its decor. The whole place is tastefully renovated with plenty of sunlight. People sit around to read and work while sipping their overpriced latte.
They let you sit there indefinitely, which is a big plus. Unfortunately they provide no WIFI (the way they put a big sign with a cross over WIFI gives the impression that they have some artistic rationale behind denying their customers this convenience).
I might stop here if I need to wait for a movie at the theater next door, but neither the bookstore nor the cafe is worth the trip or the price.

Living in HK island, I wouldn't recommend going all the way to this place. But if you live nearby, great place to hang out during weekends. Good coffee and food and also good place to browse for books and pens.

Love the vibe and feel of this bookstore. First off location is essential. They're tucked away on the west side of Yau Ma Tei as part of a slightly separated local community (right outside of an appt complex/school), and part of an Indie theatre, Broadway Cinema.
They've got a great selection of books both in Chinese, and English. Heavy focus on Design, the Arts, and more. They carry a lot of indie, lesser known and unknown publications, addressing politics, socio-economical issues, fashion, and more. Personally grabbed some great finds on typography in a multilingual setting.
Third, they're a pseudo-cafe/bookstore. Half of one, half of the other. When you walk in, the bookstore is on the left, and wraps around through a back right side entrance to additional materials, and other media stores. On the right side there's several tables, and a cafe (food/drink). Very indie.
Great place to drop by, grab a quick drink and do some work. Quiet enough to work. But a comfortably noise level so you won't feel like you're being a public nuisance if you want to conversate.response / report this review -

I live by this place so I have been on several occasions. Today i have decided to write a review because they deserve it. The set is nice but that's the only thing. The food is below average and expensive for what it is. I went to the bookshop section and I have unfortunately met the rudest manager ever in HK. I was on my own, looking for a book and out of nowhere he spoke to me in a very rude and unprofessional manner to the point that I was gobsmacked (and I have already worked in customer service). I told him that it is quite bad to speak to customers in such a nasty way and he clearly did not care and added some more attitude. There is no way I will go there again because of the poor food quality and the worst customer service skilled manager ever. In other words, no point wasting your money, even Starbucks has better quality food

Bustling. Nice for YMT area. Actually, nice enough to be anywhere in HK. All parts- cafe, bookstore, arthouse cinema, rare movie dvd sales - are tastefully done. Pretty good house blend coffee and the french fries were tasty. A unique place.

NOT COMING BACK
Items are way overpriced.
Coffee is horrific. Tea is tea, but it didn't come until after 2X mins!!
