This meal was flawless. We had the 9 course taster menu with Champagne and a bottle of white wine, and yes it was very expensive but absolutely worth it. It's a 2 star Michelin restaurant, you gotta know what you're getting into! Of the 9 courses one disagreed with me, but Foie Gras isn't for everyone. Apart from that the food was stupendously good. Some of the combinations seem bizarre but everything works. The service was impeccable with charming staff taking care of our every need and introducing each dish excellently. A perfect meal.

I enjoyed the Chinese set breakfast for HK320. They also have western and Japanese options. The service is great, quality food but short of being anything exceptional. Worth it if newrby but don’t take a special trip. Lovely staff too.

Michelin 3 star restaurant with attentive and professional service. Exquisite French cuisine with an extensive wine list. Expect to pay around HK$3,000 per person for the degustation menu, wine not included.

Way too expensive for what you are getting.
Don't get me wrong, it's very good, but it's not worth the money.

We had the 9 courses degustation menu (my wife got the 10 courses with the caviar tart as extra starter) along with the 9 glasses wine pairing. I would have expected at most 1 miss on the 9 dishes, but in the end the 3 mains were disappointing. While the 6 other dishes were great, that's still a 33% rate of disappointment for the food.

Regarding the wines we really did like only 3-4 wines on the 9 total, but on that front i respect the fact that wine pairing is a matter of taste, and we may not had the same as the chef/sommelier.

Service was not at the expected level for this kind of house. There were a few faux-pas:
- Having 2 waiters asking the same question ("would you like an aperitif?") 30 seconds apart
- Waitress spilled some water on the table while serving
- Sommelier got 1 of the wines wrong, i had to tell him that was not what was on the menu, he had to go and check, and come back with the correct wine
- No one came to fill up our water glasses for half of the dinner

food was amazing. tried the classic 6 course and each dish has its own taste focus yet is balanced very well.

no wine pairing for this set so the sommelier recommended 2 whites and 1 red to go with it. the wine wasn't bad but the sommeliers were disappointing. couldn't have any good answers to our wine questions. at first we thought it was because of their poor english but it didn't get any better even switching to cantonese. I saw no passion in wine from either of them

Very nice environment, staff are so friendly, excellent caring service.
I tried the classic menu, 6 most signature dishes selected from the past 12 years. Everything was on point until the main dish bresse poularde really disappointed me. Maybe my expectations was too high, but I really believe the quality of foods can be better from this 3rd best restaurant in Asia.

Are two Michelin Stars worth it? At Richard Ekkebus Amber they really are.

Let's get one thing clear, if you could never see yourself paying HKD $6k for a meal (for two), any meal, then move along. There's nothing to see here.

If however you can, then do come here. It's the finest Michelin starred restaurant I've visited this year or last (including the similarly two Michelin starred Caprice, which I did not rate at all, let's see what the new head chef does with it this year).

Well played Mandarin Oriental, I am a fan, well played. Will definitely be returning for a new menu.
