Simple but ok, they were very friendly and helpful. The guy from the hotel did also the candle tour through the cave and was very nice! Food is also ok but don't expect 5 star meal.

Absolutely excellent location for visiting Samuc Champey. You do not want to make the journey from Lanquin everyday to visit the pools or the caves, so I highly recommend staying here for days you plan to be visiting Samuc Champey. They also offered us a free ride from Lanquin when we arrived.

Stayed in the dorm rooms but no one else was there so it was basically a really cheap private room. It was understandably a bit damp feeling but I just aired it out as much as possible.

There is no power or lights for most of the day. I was there in August and they turned the lights on when it got dark at around 6ish pm and then turned everything off again at 9:30. So you have to be strategic in charging any devices. There is no wifi so it's not like you need to charge a lot, but you will want to have something for photos at Samuc Champey.

Also there is no kitchen. The meals are around 30 quetzales. Nothing fancy but it's all decent.

There is great swimming in the river right in front of the property and a fun rope swing. The manager is super friendly and helpful in general. He did a lot of work to arrange for us to catch our super early shuttle out of Lanquin. He also offered a fun cave tour package with tubing back to the property is well worth it.

Lugar ideal para alojarse cuando visitas Semuc Champey. Alojamiento sencillo y funcional. El trato fue muy cercano, acabamos jugando a juegos de mesa con ellos.
Está a 15 minutos caminando de la entrada. Muy interesante la visita a la cueva que se hace con bañador y una vela.

El restaurante deja mucho que desear , hay luz solo por horas ya que en toda esa área no hay electricidad a comparación de otros hoteles este es uno de los que queda mas céntrico ya que caminando en unos 25 minutos uno llega a semuc champey , enfrente de la posada esta el rio cahabon y hay tarifa especial para huespedes en tubbing y el tour en las cuevas Kan Ba

We ended up staying here by accident since our first choice turned us down because of my son, but I'm so glad things turned out the way they did. This place was great, everyone was so nice and our room was literally steps away from the river! And about a 10 minute walk to the caves and the national park Semuc Champey.

Semuc Champey vale mucho la pena, pero la posada las Marias no. Nos engañaron antes de coger el 4x4 diciéndonos que el que está un poco más arriba (no recuerdo el nombre pero sólo hay las Maria y este) era mucho más caro, así que decidimos irnos con ellos. Pero cual fue nuestra sorpresa cuando al llegar e ir a dar una vuelta el otro era prácticamente igual de precio pero mucho más nuevo, más tranquilo y más cercano a las pozas. No recomiendo Las Marias por el trato que nos dieron cuando fuimos a decir que nos sentíamos engañados.
