Vomo Island Resort Review
Let me start with my lists of complaints:
I have none.
For once someplace exceeded what was advertised. This is the place to go in Fiji. Though this is the only place I have been to, I spoke with several guest who have been going to Fiji for years and everyone said the same thing. Vomo Island is the best resort they have ever been to.
The resort facilities were wonderful. Everything was state of the art including Island wide wifi. Beds were delightful with four pillows of different softness. The bathroom had a wonderful soaking tube and walk in shower. Each room had a Boise Bluetooth sound system that worked flawlessly. Air conditioning was efficient and quite. The ambience was great.
It am an avid free diver and I have dove all over the world. The reefs here are amazing, no sign of bleaching, rich in marine life. The snorkeling and diving here is outstanding.
Food was great, 3 meals, each with 3 entrees, each with 3 options. All gourmet quality.
Activities were well thought out, safe, and entertaining. Kayaking, stand up paddle boards, catamaran, snorkeling, diving, golf, hiking, tennis, pickle ball, croquet or just laying by the beach in lounge chairs or bean bags. The daily boat reef snorkeling trips were safe and fantastic for all skill levels.
The spa was a treat with well trained staff. We had 5 massages, all were delightful.
The private Island picnic on Little Vomo was a fantasy come true, not to be missed.
Even though this was a "Family friendly resort" it was not at the expense of the other guests. This was due to the well thought out options for children that kept them entertained and mostly separated from the other guests. Even though the resort was at 100% occupancy I kept wondering where the other guests were. It felt like we nearly had the place to ourselves.
The staff greeted us upon our arrival with "Bula, welcome home!" and they meant it. Their hospitality was second to none and their happiness infectious. The Fijian culture night on Thursday was wonderful. I will miss them the most.
I cannot give Vomo a higher recommendation. This was worth every penny and then some.
A very beautyful and queit place to relax for Vacation.
I don’t know how to begin to describe how wonderful Vomo Island is. Within 12 hours of hitting its shores it felt like we had been relaxing for a week and we were already planning our next trip back. We flew in on a helicopter which is only a short 15min ride from Nadi airport. Luckily for us there was another Heli on the pad on Vomo as we approached so we did a lap of the island, just beautiful! We got a wonderful greeting by the staff singing and playing guitar, along with personal welcome from the senior management, Jacques (assistant GM) and Andrew (Food and Beverage manager). Immediately you get a sense of how all the staff love their Island and their job and they take a genuine personal interest in you. I know Fiji is renowned for friendly staff but these guys were amazing, we got quite emotional saying goodbye to the many beautiful souls who made our trip amazing. Within hours they knew you by name and couldn’t be more accommodating and helpful. One of the many joys of Vomo is that it’s like owning your own Island. There is a maximum of about 70 guests and with only 28 when we landed it felt even more personal and easy to relax. Many times we were the only people on the beach or in the pool. The food and beverage is exceptional and is inclusive, except for alcohol. The food is fresh, tropical and delicious. Great seafood, fruit, meat, deserts on offer with great variety. So many great ala carte choices at every meal. A place where you can have Lobster Frittata for breakfast everyday (which I did) certainly knows how to deliver. In fact it’s hard not get order multiple dishes at once (which I also did). Cocktails at the rocks bar at sunset are a must, the view is simply stunning even better with a ginger mojito in hand. Alcohol is not cheap but is typical of resort pricing with wine being a bit more expensive. Great choice of beer wine and cocktails served by awesome staff always up for a chat and a laugh. All the usual activates are on offer if you can pry yourself off the day beds by the pool. We snorkeled out the front of our room, paddle boarded, kayaked, swam etc. etc. Do yourself a favor and pay for a private troll around the island for wahoo and mackerel, awesome experience. Walking around the Island is a must at low tide as is climbing the hill for charity and walking out to the “Yoga platform” for breath taking views. Vomo is not cheap but its great value. If you add up the cost of a nice main island resort and tip in food, coffees, water etc. you are only paying a small premium for a 6 star semi-private island experience. I could go on and on about this magic place but in closing is just stole our hearts and we will be back time and time again. It’s wrecked us for other islands and we will be back again and again.
It is a unforgettable place. hospitality staff, beautiful scenes and cottage.
Because of the people working here are so friendly
Having been twice now, we have booked our third trip for 2017. Ticking all "stress free holidaying" boxes, we can't get past this little gem. Worth every cent.
Best resort in Fiji by far.
5 star service, 5 star food (daily menu change).
Amazing beaches and privacy.
Worth every penny !
