Lovely central hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms impeccable and coffee dock on the 1st floor is a lovely treat. 9th floor terrace is a lovely touch. Really sorry to have to leave!!!

Gorgeous, well located hotel, but the WORST front desk experience we've ever had in Europe in the 6 years we've been over. Natalie was rude, condescending and just plain awful to deal with. I don't enjoy posting negative comments about anyone, but this has to be the exception. We did not have a city center hotel booked in advance so she was only able to accommodate us for only one night. She then told us that if we were so "desperate for a room we should have booked in advance". She was so positive that there would be no cancellations for the following day and I joked that are you sure "possibly someone might break a leg and cancel." Well ,she said that was an awful thing to say and that I should not wish that on anyone. My husband said that it was a joke and she stated again that it was an awful thing to say. She needs to be re-trained on the front desk or find another line of work because we decided to leave Madrid the next day because of the feeling she left us with.

Very nice hotel, some rooms have balconies whilst others look out on the interior of the hotel (somewhat boring). Beds very comfortable. Good sized bathrooms with twin-basins. Safe in the room; mini-bar; TV. Roof terrace and bar on the 9th floor with good views over Madrid. Substantial buffet breakfast (bread was rather average) with a choice of cooked meats and eggs in different ways; plus contental and lots of fruit. Parking lets it down.

Nice place, friendly staff and nice decor. Some rooms refurbished. We were placed in a refurbished room that had two single beds. We asked them to move us as I was staying with my wife and they did. Unfortunately we were moved to a smaller, older room. Still great. Didn't try the food but amenities otherwise good.

Good hotel in the city centre. Close to metro. Room is clean and fine. Breakfast is OK for the price. Wi-Fi is free and good.

The location, room and staff were all top quality. The rooftop terrace offers great views of the city. An overall enjoyable stay!

Our comfortable large room on level 7 is surprisingly quiet, despite being on the Gran Via. The ground floor lobby is small, but the whole of level 9 is dedicated to very nice common spaces, including a bar, sitting rooms and a small meeting/business area. There are also terraces with great views over the city.
The location is perfect, it's right at the heart of the city, with so much to do within a few minutes' walk.response / report this review -

We spent three days here. This hotel is what you would expect in a four star hotel. The staff was very personable and professional. The breakfasts at the hotel were wonderful and very economical. The rooms are large and very comfortable. This is an historic building and we enjoyed the elegance of the entire hotel.
