Hostel is in the center of Downtown, it has good atmosphere and nice friendly staff (Sudanese guy was very nice). Bathroom was clean and you can feel like home here. I recomend it :)

Dahab Hostel provides serenity amidst the chaos and noise of Cairo. The staff are friendly, the place is clean and the rooftop, ah! It allows you to rest, to work, to just sit with friends and talk, whatever suits your fancy. Aside from this, there are great amenities to make your stay comfortable including an equipped kitchen, clean toilets and baths, free wifi and a fridge with snacks for when you don't need heavy food. It is also located just next to the Egyptian museam and great cafes around so you have whatever you need close by you. Basically it is the best place to stay in while visiting Egypt hands down!

Good things about the hostel: Friendly staff, good location, nice rooftop, they organized a tour for us and it was decent.

Bad things: The room was dirty, and really hot so we couldn't sleep, the bathroom wasn't clean, the refrigerator was disgusting, the staff could be more helpful. The breakfast was late and very very basic.

I had a really good experience at this hostel. The rooms were good. The breakfast was good and cheap. I had a really good experience with the staff--especially the Sudanese gentleman that was there in the mornings. He was exceptionally helpful and kind!

The location of the hostel is great. You are within walking distance of a great many things, including the Egyptian museum. The rooftop lounge was a great place to meet other guests and enjoy looking at Cairo. I will seriously think about this place next time I go.

    What a complete scam.
Do yourself a favor, do not take their white desert tour.
We arrived in baharia around 11 and waited around until 2pm to get lunch. We were hoping for a yummy hot lunch, instead we got a 4 pound bowl of kosheri with no extra servings. Then around 3 we were taken to two mountains, nothing special, and then to a hot springs and the day was done. Dinner was soup, bowl of rice and a spoon of veggies, hardly filling for anyone in the group. We were back in the hotel by 530.
We had the entire next morning to ourselves. There's really nothing to do or see so we took a walk and waited around for the next batch of people to arrive.
Then they tell me the entrance fees is 5$ + 10 pounds to sleep in the desert. Now dahab hostels website still reflects that I need to pay a total of 40 pounds and I was asked to pay 90. Was I to get a receipt for the 'entrance fees' and 'ten pounds to sleep in desert?' of course not. I called the hostel who told me 'inflation ma'am,' the driver then told me that many dahab hostel tourists had the same issue about being asked to pay more than twice what they expected, and still dahab didn't feel the need to update the website or share this information.
Mercifully we started around 3pm to go to the white desert. They pointed to the black desert, showed us the crystal mountain and we arrived at the white desert past sunset. Let's remind ourselves that we were on a white desert tour and it was the night of day 2 and we still hadn't really seen it in the light.
The 'best' surprise was the sleep arrangements. There was no tent. Sleeping bags on the sand was what I paid for, apparently. Just great.
My husband didn't sleep through the night and he's now sick :(
They woke us up before sunrise and we left the desert by 7am. The same desert my tour was about and I had a grand total of 30 minutes in two days where I could see the white desert.
The hot springs were 'closed' so we couldn't swim and we got back on a bus to Cairo at 10am, much much much earlier that the itinerary suggested. Is dahab picking me up from the bus to drop me at the hostel? No. It would cost them 2 pounds to do so but obviously it's 'not on their vague itinerary'.
So dahab hostel: thanks a lot for nothing. Hope no one gets on a time, energy, money waste with you.

Fantastic place. The rooms were small and basic but totally clean, and so were the toilets and showers. The outside area is fantastic, with lots of small areas where you can sit and relax, or sit on the terrace and watch the sun go down, or watch the cats case the birds. They do a good breakfast (the fuul was rather good) and shisha. Met some great people there too!
