A little disappointed. Unique and that’s the only reason I’ve given it 4stars but a few things let it down.
They have been greedy (as is often the case) and group sizes on the tour really impact on the quality. The rooms are too small for the numbers. Tour guide was great and very informative but I would have liked time to actually read the boards and look at the photos/artifacts/rooms during the tour. This was simply not possible with so many people crowded into each area.
Could do with a bit more information as it’s quite unique looking specifically at the hotel and it’s part in the era. I’d have liked a longer tour (it was just under an hour including time spent looking at the view).

Learned a lot! Gives testament to an oppressive past and the extent to which the KGB went to gather info on unsuspecting people. It also shows very intelligent and advanced techniques that they used like spy cameras, plates with microphones, untappable phones, etc. Well worth the 11 euros!

Very informative and well explained. This was a great tour. Special thanks to our guide for going beyond normal stuff and explaining a lot more. She was very receptive to all the questions asked. There are some cool view points from the top of 23rd floor.

It's not a real museum but rather an opportunity to enter the hidden floor in the virtu hotel. This special 23rd floor was used to listen to what foreigners where speaking about. If you're into the soviet era and you like to see and touch how the world looked like at that time you should try this tour. As a fan I really enjoyed it. If you don't care about that era I think you will be bored.

Interesting story behind the current museum. 1h tour with Eng, Fin and local languages. A must visit if you want to know the history of Viru hotell and Estonia.

Guide was really good and told us lots of little bits of information. However don't expect the usual "museum" feel. This is made up of two rooms, one of which is in a preserved state, the other made with props. If I were there marketing team I'd rename it as the preserved KGB room, I love the way they denied that the 23rd floor existed.

Worth a visit, a little expensive for what you get and I'd Remarketing it slightly. But interesting.

Yes it's small, and yes most of the information is in the talk. However it's fascinating. Two small rooms of old memorabilia from Soviet spying era. I really enjoyed it

The tour guide was funny, engaging, and knowledgeable - easily one of the best presenters in my experience at similar venues. While the museum is rather "small" - two rooms on the top floor, with viewing platforms - the information was dense, the memorabilia and artifacts were interesting, and overall I left feeling as though I had a solid glimpse of the activities of the hotel and KGB within the context of recent history. I certainly would recommend this to anyone with a passing interest in learning about soviet occupation and KGB affairs in Tallinn.

Disappointing. The tour guide was awful. 50 minutes of lame jokes and perhaps 10 telling basic information you can read on the museum's website. There were 25 people packed into the tour and we had to all cram into tiny rooms where nobody could see anything but the backs of each other's heads. There were only 2 rooms in the "museum" and a tiny corridor, mostly with unrelated memorabilia about the hotel, rather than the KGB operations going on there. It seems like not much is known about what went on there or at least very little effort went into putting together a tour.

Wouldn't stay at the Viru hotel again. Air conditioning didnt work and technical assistance couldnt fix it, so room got very hot. Choice at the breakfast buffet very basic. Layout of the breakfast room doesnt make sense: plates located in one end of the room, bread and butter in another, hot and cold food yet another. Makes you have to run around a lot through the crowds. Room feels packed, tables placed far too close to each other. Location of the hotel good though, and probably convenient if you fancy a visit to the museum or nightclub in the same building.

Great buffet with a wide range of both local and international food and awesome views of Tallinn from the rooftop for a reasonable price
