Excellent s&p resort on Banos Ecuador #thanks very much to all the staff in the Luna R# you made me feel like a King in your resort guys #reception#Resturant, cafe del cielo, s&p, security staff, concierge#It was 7 days on vacation the best on 2016.#mpj.
Wonderful place. Truly one of a kind. Volcanic water pools with view of the city are breathtaking. Spa is wonderful. Close enough to pretty much anything and the hotel helps with transportation to and from major cities (Guayaquil/Quito) for a fee. They call cans for you if you want to visit town or any attractions nearby.
Amazing experience! The hotel sits on a mountain overlooking Banos. While this does mean you need to hire a cab to make it to town, it also means the location is quiet, secluded and has incredible views. Our room (Yoga Suite) was clean and tastefully furnished. The bed was comfortable and we could relax and look out over the mountain without getting up! We took advantage of the hotel's many amenities including the pools overlooking the town and mountains, both restaurants and the spa. (We stayed for four nights, which was just enough to really enjoy everything on site and take advantage of tours) Compared to what we would pay for anything remotely similar in the US, Luna Runtun was a good value for a 5 star experience. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a romantic, unique getaway in Ecuador. Note: you really must know Spanish to get along in Ecuador. This place is no exception.
The beautiful property did not make up for the several bad experiences. Just go for a meal if you want to see the grounds (just be sure they're not serving a buffet).
Let’s start with our massages: Worst massage ever. When asked how the massage pressure was, I responded with "mas fuerte" and she did not adjust the pressure. I said “mas fuerte” again minutes later and she did nada. It was as if she had never been trained on massage – very light touch and not much method applied-jumping from one body part to the next. On top of that, the girl kept shaking her hand and squeezing her fingers, like they were soar. My friend said her massage girl was doing the same thing (and that the massages use to include 2 masseuses for the same price). These girls are obviously overworked and under trained.
Secondly, we had to ask 3 times for our wine which included in our “romantico package”. It finally arrived several hours after we checked in. No Bueno.
Thirdly, the water closet in our suite smelled horribly like sewage - which I was going to live with - until it permeated the rest of the room and caused nausea. We told reception and nothing was done about it and no apologies were made.
Fourth, one of the spas was broken which meant the working ones were packed with people – 8 people PER SPA when we were there! Hardly romantic. And no one was at pools when we went (no towels were given). Additionally, only 1 of 3 working spas was proper working temperature.
Lastly, but definitely not least since the meals are a HUGE portion of the experience, the restaurant staff were nice but dinner and breakfast buffet at that class of hotel is a joke. I can eat buffet food back home for $10. We looked at the dinner buffet but the food looked old and not fresh at all so we ended up going to the Cafe for dinner (which had good service), although not the caliber I would expect at a $400/night resort (I had a sandwich for my birthday dinner).
Not a luxury resort experience in the least.
I stayed at the hotel. The good: beautiful grounds, big rooms, the romantic package. The bad: the buildings and pools need maintenance, the food at the resort was the worst I encountered in Ecuador. Our experience at the spa was good. It was barely a two star experience when the price was considered.
Amazing value spa day! $100 included - 4 hours in the pools on the side of the mountain overlooking the city. 1 hour full body massage. Appetizer/entree for dinner at their restaurant. The amenities were great and so was the food! Amazing service! You can even take the bus here if you don't want to take a taxi - just keep in mind you'll have to walk down their long cobblestone driveway.
Absolutely loved it here. We enjoyed the pools for three hours for just 20$ which is absolutely worth it. You can see whole Baños from the pool. I recommend to visit this place in the evening so you can watch the sunset.
Very romantic. Great views of volcano. Excellent base for activities and lots of Spa pools..
Beautiful views, but the service was poorer than a place 1/10th the price. It took 45 minutes and three reminders to have a beer delivered, no one ever took drink orders at dinner or breakfast and when we checked out the man working the reception seemed annoyed we asked him to call us a taxi, at first suggesting we try to share with another couple (despite them neither going where we were and clearly not having any more room).
The grounds are lovely, but the service makes the cost unjustifiable.
Very nice place. GPS took us right to the gate. The food was excellent.
Café del Cielo. Well worth the experience Awesome views of Baños and delicious, unique menu at a reasonable price. Must visit!
Helpful staff, but expensive for what you get. The isolation severely limits your options for food and there is no room service or any other all day options for eating.
Amazing view and tasty drinks!
Excellent serviceexcellent food and excellent massages
Sitting in the hot pools you overlook the city of Banos down under you.really a relax point after 10 days trekking through beautifull ecuador
Very nice place. GPS took us right to the place. Food was also excellent.
One of the fanciest, if not the fanciest hotel in town. You can have your wedding here. Better fine dining, car is necessary because it's way up there in the mountain, but this being a tourist town that's not a problem. Check out the flight of the condor attraction nearby. If not cloudy the view is quite colorful.
