My arrival was fine checking in was fine I got a reasonably nice room I have a king size bed On my bed is a red striped cloth go from one end of the bed to the other I took it off the bed I folded it and put it on the bench looked back at my bed and I've got 3 worms moving from underneath that red cloth that right worms I am very unhappy that this happened to me at a resort on my very 1st day doesn't matter which day it is the idea of having warms on your bed Would Make anyone angry I spoke to a lady at the front desk I told her what happened she said that they would send a cleaning crew to my room they would change the sheets on the bed they shown up they changed the sheets Next day my morning breakfast I go into the dining Hall get some oatmeal get some bacon-and-eggs sat down at my table and I've got a filthy spoon Later on That evening I went to that dining Hall and we were having steak I took a nice piece of steak mushrooms peppers onions smothered it look really nice got to my table at 2 knives was about in life was the jagged edge type but it would not cut the steak so I asked may I have a steak knife please we don't have steak nice I said well I can't eat the steak I'm showing him that the knife will not cut through the steak and ice is I'm going to need a steak knife we don't have steak nice I system take my meal throw it away and I'll go eat the fish the fish was very good it was grouper I enjoyed it I am now into my 5th day And It's getting better You get one star Some things at a result should never happen you have a nice day

This Resort is beautiful. It is all exclusive and adult oriented. Right on the beach with beautiful white sand. The meals in each of the restaurants were every good, as were the drinks! The gift shops located within the hotel however, we're very expensive. It was also challenging to find, even for the Local transportation that was taking me. I definitely suggest use and transportation provided by the hotel. All in all, my experience there was wonderful and I would definitely suggest it.

Went here on a 10 day vacation. I haven't been that relaxed in years. The staff are amazing, the rooms are amazing, the food and drinks were fantastic. The pools were saltwater and the beach was epic, not to mention that perfect temperature out and in the water. Go here, you won't be disappointed unless you were spoon fed your whole life.

Its not a five star resort as its sold. Was nice, and the food and service was pretty good. Its a nice 4-star resort. Was also VERY WINDY!

Very relaxing. We never struggled to get a sun bed which was one of my fears. Tried all the restaurants and they were wonderful, the buffet at night had a huge choice of different food cultures so easy to find something you like. 3 pools one of which was a swim up bar. Lovely beach and all day entertainment

Room is smaller then expected, no snacks in room Fridge isn't filled regularly expected more for price and for a 5 star. Food has been good..alcohol is local with few options for a 5 star. First time at a Riu, wouldn't visit again unless there was a massive price drop.

Can't fault it! Spotlessly clean, wonderful food especially in the speciality restaurants, apart from the Italian which we didn't enjoy, service bad and food average, tasteless pasta! Other people we spoke to enjoyed it so we might have hit a bad night! The beach is stunning and clean. Nice swimming pools and ee didn't have a problem getting sun beds. Definitely recommend.

Very nice older resort. The staff is friendly and very attentive and the entertainment staff is great too. We loved the adults only part with no kids running around. The buffets are wonderful and just as good, if not better, than the specialty restaurants. I would definitely endorse this resort to friends and family.

Stayed here for a birthday. Rooms where nice but beds where hard in my opinion. The place was clean and looked recently renovated. Good was good at the sit down restaurants and the buffet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good nightlife, nice that there was no kids so quiet in the day by the pool or on the beach. Would stay here again

It was our first trip to the Dominican Republic, and I think it is important to distinguish between a 4 or 5 star resort in American standards versus the DR. My first night in the Palace Macao I was a tad underwhelmed, after having stayed at high star resorts in American cities. However, the beach was very beautiful, the all inclusive deal was great, the people were friendly, and I'd highly recommend staying here.

Food was hit or miss at most dining places (but always something good, you just had to try a lot)

Don't drink the tap water (true of almost all DR places though)

Absolutely amazing!! Great staff at every restaurant, very friendly!! Each restaurant offers different menus, which was wonderful! Lots of activities and very kid friendly!! Very clean! Top notch! Would love to go back!

Pretty nice place. Great beach and good drinks. The food was the weakest part of this resort. Rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. Food keeps this place from 5 stars.

This is a low quality resort with low standards, terrible food, and even worse staff.
The resort is so poorly managed that i have pictures of a food tray that was left on a beach chair for 3 days. You would think that all staff should be responsible for maintaining the quality and appearance of the resort, but judging by the amount of people who walk by this dirty plate and didn't pick it up exemplifies their standards. There was also trash all over the beach.
The daily and nightly entertainment is so boring that they have to force you to applause at everything. My hands hurt from all the clapping aka forced-fun.
I understand we are in a Spanish speaking country and I speak Spanish pretty well l, but it was exhausting trying to constantly translate and explain to all of the staff any requests or questions my family had. If you have an international resort then you should have staff that can cater to all languages.
They say not to make reservations for the restaurants, but my 5 person family had to wait 45 minutes for a table at the steakhouse. When we asked if we could have a glass if wine while we waited the staff said no. Did they not get the memo that it's all inclusive so it doesn't matter if I drink wine at the restaurant while I wait or at the bar while I wait. The night we ate at the Japanese restaurant there were several open tables, but they made us wait 30 minutes. I can onlu assume that this was based on lack of staff.
On Friday, July 7, 2017 one of the entertainment staff from one of the other Riu resorts was extremely rude to me. The employee told me his name was Mambo, but knowing that the workers use nicknames I asked his real name and he said it is Rey. I also don't believe that, but when I asked your other entertainment staff they said the same. He is about 5 feet 5 inches tall, has facial hair, and long braids with some green ribbon.
After talking to me outside the club for about 3 minutes he tried to persuade me away from the club, La Pacha, into a parking lot to try and kiss me. When I declined to follow him and declined to kiss him he became extremely rude and agitated. He told me that I am dangerous, I am difficult, I am boring, and that I think I'm better than everyone else.
When I brought this complaint to the management at the hotel the staff had no way of knowing who this employee was. Additionally they tried to justify his behavior by saying that because it was 2am at the club the employee maybe was drunk. If you are allowing your staff to mingle with your guests at the club, in their Riu uniforms, then you should require that they maintain hotel standards. Regardless of him being in a uniform, as an employee of the hotel I would expect that he have a certain level of respect for the guest. And regardless of him being a hotel employee, simply as another human being, I would expect him to be respectful of my choices and not try to degrade me.
This was my last night on vacation and completely ruined the entire trip for me. This verbal harassment was extremely embarrassing and hurtful. I have never been so disrespected. Sadly this is the last impression I have of Riu Hotels.
This was the worst vacation I have ever taken and would not recommend this resort to anyone!!!response / report this review -

I went there when I was about 9 years old. It was a great place; lots of activities to do, very friendly people, and free ice cream! I don't know if it's still available, but it is memorable.

Simply put, a really nice place to spend a week or two.
We had a great time with some great new friends. The Hotel is clean and organized. Everything is at 'arms' length with a short 30m walk from 3 swimming pools to the beach. The food from the buffet and restaurants was very good. Lots of interesting entertainment from the Animation Crew.response / report this review -
