Great place for vacation.

Stayed here all January, this place is amazing.
Casa de Compai is a condo complex consisting of nine units. Units 4-9 were recently finished in December 2017 and are thus brand new. They all share a pool with a shower and a BBQ as well as high-speed wifi, a power backup generator, a water filtration system and much more. Units 1-3 were finished in 2016, i believe, but are still state of the art.
Unit 3, where i stayed for one month, is the biggest condo, with 2 bed rooms. I loved the place and can absolutely recommend it. Here are a couple of the reasons why:
a) Location: The location is great as it's located directly at the end of the "party mile" of Sosua. You can walk anywhere but it's still quiet at night. To the center of the party mile in 5 minutes, to the main beach in 10 minutes, to a shopping mall with farmacy, supermarket, currency exchange and more within 3 minutes, to the next hospital (direction of Cabarete) in 8 minutes. Two banks within 3 minutes. A tip from me: Use banco progresso for withdrawing money, the daily maximum there is 30.000 DOP instead of the usual 10.000 and the fees are only 150 DOP.
b) Security: The condo complex is gated with 24/7 security personnel. Each condo has a safe and the doors inside the condo are usually lockable, too. This condo #3 in particular has a balcony facing the street and the security guard. c) Furnishing: There are bed rooms, each with a queen sized bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, TV and lots of room to store your things. One of the bedrooms has a safe. The kitchen resp. living room is spacious and has everything you need for preparing your own meals.
c) The little extras: Each condo has a personal 5 mbps WiFi which is more than enough for streaming Netflix and the like. The TVs have a "Kodi" entertainment system with Live TV, Sports TV, Netflix, Youtube, Movies, TV Shows and much more. An on-site maid service can be purchased which will clean the condo for 700 DOP and do laundry for 50 DOP per pound. And if you're an animal person, the best extra is probably "Shadow", the adorable little black dog, that watches over the condo complex (photo attached!).
d) Hospitality: This is what makes the place special for me. The owner, John Kumpel, is a great guy that goes out of his way to make his guests feel comfortable. He keeps busy but is always just a What sApp message away. I don't want to set expectations but he always had helpful advice on restaurants, beaches, shopping and other places to see. He even took me out a couple of times and arranged a BBQ for the guests. Especially if you are a rookie in this town, his advice is invaluable.

Stayed at this tucked away gem for a week. Had a personal driver pick me up from the airport, he gave a tour of the town on the way to the casa! Casa de compai is centrally located, near the bars. It is a quiet little hideaway with a great pool. Staff was always avaliable the beds were very comfortable and the accommodation all modern! If you are a person who wants to interact with the people and experience their culture this is the place for you. Close to the beach, activities and great restaurants! One day I tried kite surfing and President Obama was close by with Richard Branson. Great time for someone who likes other cultures, if you like all inclusive probably not for you.
