Great location, rooms, beach, pools, the spa is magnificent The restaurants and food is OK but you get tired of the same/same after a few days. The restaurants are average, the Japanese one is a must do, the French, La Comedie is OK but doesn't live up to the hype and extra cost. The people who work here are great, they really try to make your stay memorable. Not much to see off propertythe tours might be OK but very operational cost controlled.
All in all, the rooms are great, the staff is great Stay away from the vendors Needed a charging cable for my cell $30 for something that normally costs $4-5use this to price check other offers at the "resort mall" .. Cheapest cigar $10not my cup of tea. If you stay away from the ripoffs it is great The physical plant is wonderful , people are great the location is exceptional Only one beer .. Me and my family spent 7 days at this resort. We enjoyed the pools, the beach and the a la carte restaurants. Unfortunately, the buffets were mediocre. We all got sick the last night with VERY bad stomach aches, probably from the food we ate at buffet the day before. The rooms need a bit of updating. The maid was friendly and cleaned the rooms well, although she did not replace glasses we used to rinse our mouths after brushing our teeth. We caught her washing the glasses with the tap water in the sink, which the water here is not the safest. Again the rooms were ok but had lots of mosquitos during the night and we woke up with lots of mosquito bites. I recommend the Japanese restaurant (Kyoto). The food there was excellent. Overall our trip was good, but I would probably recommend the newer hotel (Royalton Bavaro).

- Free Internet at Casino till 4pm. Or you have to pay 45$ for 7 days. And it's very slow. Specially on the beach and next to pool.response / report this review -

Just returned from a 6 day 5 night stay. We had a great time. The food was good not great, the service in the Mexican restaurant was VERY slow. Our diner orders were incorrect every night and no consistency. Our maid service was excellent. The resort over all was very clean. Free WiFi would be a great addition.

A bit tired - needs some updating. Service was good; food plentiful, but very average. Really liked the lakes golf course. It's a great value compared to the better courses in the DR, like case de campo.

The resort was nice and the staff during the day were very friendly. The night staff was horrible. The girl that works at the front security gate at night needs to be fired.

This is one of the WORST places that you could ever go to for vacation. If you are looking to go to Punta Cana DO NOT stay at the Barcelo Bavaro Delux resort! The food was extremely disgusting! We saw a cockroach on a plate when trying to get one for lunch. Me and my family had food poisoning for a week after returning back home. The staff are extremely rude and were very money hungry. You have to pay extra in order to get room service or WiFi. When the maid service cleans your room, they leave the door wide open for hundreds of mosquitos to come in and camp out in your room. On day two I was so curious as to why me and my family were getting eaten alive until I realized that it's all the mosquitos that were in our room. This place made me look at not ever returning back to the DR; but thankfully our other friends that have been to the DR and stayed at other resorts had a completely different experience. Stay away from this place! Trust me! You'll be sorry if you go here.

You get what you pay for. It was very inexpensive. The beach and pool were beautiful. Maybe it was once a nice hotel. The service was very poor. There was a lot of food but it was mediocre. It sure felt like it was spring break. People smoking everywhere including in the pool. Check before you come what size bed you are getting. My husband and I were given a room with two double beds. It took two days of asking for a room change before we got a room with a king bed. In neither room was everything working and it was difficult to get the towels you need The service was very disorganized with staff blaming management.

Great property with wonderful people! Our group enjoyed the pool and beach very much, and the food was outstanding. We booked through Expedia with a couple of issues. One, the ground transportation defaults to one way that is not clear when booking so you will get a surprise the next day. Expedia books ground transportation through Blue travel on the island which will tell you to meet them the next morning to get your hotel pick up time, but before your told your pick up time, you are in a high pressure sales meeting to purchase excursions. It's a fight to get your pick up time. A cab fair to and from the airport is 10 bucks per person each way, so I recommend you take a cab and get your excursions on your terms.

I called weeks before my arrival to notify the hotel that we would be flying in overnight and would arrive very early in the morning.if a room could not be ready we wanted to book the previous day just to be able to get into a room upon arrival.
I was assured that this would not be an issue and we would be taken care of. We arrived shortly after 6am I was very sick upon leaving the airport and notified the front desk I was told the room was not ready and would not be ready until closer to 3pm!
I ended up not getting a room until after 1pm..What a horrible situation! I was sick and HOT in the lobby mean while another traveler who was with our group got a room shortly after we arrived, she didn't like it came back and complained and got a second room. How does that happen while I'm still waiting til the afternoon to get my first room and under the specific circumstances???!!!!
Then after a very bad stay check out took an hour only to find out my CC had been charged fraudulently and no knew how to fix this. AMEX will handle it but NEVER AGAIN will I stay there!response / report this review
