Not a German standard and not even close to the body + soul standard. It's big but bad air quality, old changing rooms etc.

(Review based on experience as a 2-year, former member in the Donnersbergebrücke branch of the gym)

Positive: Large, uncrowded gym w/ good equipment at a good price (60/month dues)
Negative: I have been working out in gyms for nearly 30 years, having belonged to dozens of gyms in Anglo-Saxon countries and in Germany. I have NEVER had a horrible experience as I had in this gym w/ both members and staff. The gym is located in a poor part of München and a significant portion of the members are working-class native Bavarians. Many are unbelievably uncivilized (unfriendly, inconsiderate, rude and disrespectful) to all those who don't share their background.

For example, the gym has no air-conditioning, and gets very hot in summer, and the staff turns on floor fans, but they either turn them off or turn them to face the wall. And they territorially “reserve” equipment with their towels even when they're not using it, and hostilely refuse to let you work in, notwithstanding the signs on the walls explicitly stating that that is against the gym rules. On one occasion, a member even cursed, threatened, and violently pushed me. On another, a member violently threw a towel in my face and threateningly told me to f*!# off.

To add insult to grievous injury, the gym management repeatedly ignored my verbal and written complaints and tolerated their unacceptable behavior. In the end, they even cancelled MY membership, after I complained to the head-office about their unprofessional behavior. In sum, if you are part of the new face of Munich (e.g. educated, professional, cosmopolitan, civilized), then stay away from at least that branch of the gym.

The people at the reception are always smiling and friendly. I wish sometimes instead of standing there, being happy they actually went to the lockers room and clean the lockers on the inside. The equipment is nice and relatively new but some of the cardio equipment is often not working. Oh, and it's probably the only Body + Soul gym in the city without the swimming pool.
