After years of enjoying the old Tambosi, it was a shock when I met with a colleague for dinner at what had been my favorite Munich dinner spot. Gone were the friendly, layed-back atmosphere, the comfortable sofas, the simple-yet-always affordable menu items, the good food and the fine service of earlier times. At the door, I was "greeted" with an aggressive, snobby "Do you have a reservation?" and irritated looks when I said that I just wanted to see if my colleague had arrived. A waiter actually blocked my path upstairs until I insisted! My colleague and I ordered pasta dishes -- the kinds of things that a good cook can whip up in minutes. But alas, the minutes turned into almost an hour. When the food finally arrived, it was tasteless. My "maltagliati" were so hard and caked in parmesan that I had to cut some of them with a knife. My colleague's "strozzapreti" were fit for the gastrointestinal treatment ward in a hospital. They had all the flavor of a plate of sawdust. After bringing our orders, the waiter never came back. There was no chance to order a second € 10.90 glass of run-of-the-mill wine. Even getting the bill required such a long wait that, exasperated, we finally decided to go downstairs to pay. There, we were told very uncerimoniously that we would have to go back upstairs to pay. We refused to do so. Obviously, we will never set foot in Tambosi again. It is not worth a visit.

Renovated, nice and shiny, unfortunately now without charm. The service was never great in the first place, but now after the renovation its even worse.

Too expensive, low quality of service and food. Been there this week, extremely expensive dishes with low quality and amount of food way too small. NO RECOMMENDATION! NEEDS TO IMPROVE SIGNIFICANTLY.

This place is HORRIBLE! Spend your money elsewhere!
We had only some coffee and water there and the waiters were unbelievably rude!
The first waiter came to take the order from one of my friends who didn't have the chance to checkout the menu and asked if they had lemonade the waiter gave him an angry look and responded "did you see it on the menu?!"
Then he ordered water and the waiter was pissed that he didn't specify the size of the bottle!! the waiter's body language gave the impression that he's not that far from starting a fight totally absurd!
The interaction with the second waiter was bad as well they treat you as if you're not welcome there, no respect to the customer whatsoever!
So people, if you have self-respect, stay away from this place, they're not worth spending a cent there.

Horribly outdated service. Even though Germany is by itself notorious for its refusal to accept cards rather than cash currency, this place doesn't even allow paying with card under 15 euro, and even then it only accepts credit cards. When compared to the rest of Europe, this feels horribly primitive. Debit card holders are out of luck. This, combined with the rather rude service make this place leave much to be desired. I expected better from a bar in a touristic city like Münich.

Cozy little place for a beer or coffee. I've never had to wait but have perhaps mostly been here at off times. Definitely in a touristy part of town and can reflect that.

One of the oldest cafe in the city. They are located directly in one of the most touristy parts of town and are very popular. This causes the very long waiting time and the fact, that it is almost full. But if you manage to get a place and are not in hurry, you can enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee and a huge piece of home made cake.
