SPG Platinum members: stay away. Do not expect your usual treatment. No special welcome, no gift, no complimentary upgrade. On top of that the receptionist gave me incorrect information regarding the hotel's SPG policies.
As for location: A lot of reviewers praise it. Let me tell you as an actual local: The hotel sits in a dead spot of town. No restaurants, no cafes, no interesting shops, no nice park nearby. Gloomy. It is true that it is well connected to the better areas, but if you are curious about true Berlin life, stay away.response / report this review -

Rooms are a bit small. AC control is not user friendly and in German only. Hotel doesn't have a business centre or even a PC and a printer. Staff are nice. Hotel is clean. Right across metro station.

Nice hotel in a good location for reaching many sights in central Berlin. It's not the fanciest hotel, but it is chic with a nice restaurant and bar. The staff was very helpful anytime we needed them, and there is a subway station just across the street. All in all, a very good place to stay if you're a tourist in Berlin.

The room was nice and spacious. The location was great, walking distance to museum island and many other tourist sights, only 2 minutes walk from the spittelmarkt station as well. Most importantly, the staff were amazing and so helpful!

The Cosmo Hotel is located conveniently across from the Spittelmarkt U2 subway station, and a 15 min walk from Alexanderplatz and Museum Island. Its location is one of its best assets. I'd recommend staying on the quiet side overlooking the courtyard if you're a light sleeper. Otherwise the traffic is quite loud on the other sides of the building. The mattress was too firm for my husband and I (used to cushy American beds). The bathroom was comfortable -- good shower, spacious sink area. No makeup mirror. A downside was the temperature control -- it doesn't work. Other reviews say the same thing so I know it wasn't just a malfunction in our room. The whole hotel is a static temperature and you can only cool it down by opening the window (which you can't leave open all night because of the very loud traffic below). No idea what it'd be like in the summer. Overall: I might stay here again because it has some SPG benefits but I'd stay in a quiet room, be aware of the temperature issues and bring ibuprofen for the neck aches from the firm bed.

This morning at approx, 07:15 I woke up by hard noise. It turned out be construction works that went on. So I decided to check out early instead of getting the needed sleep. When I left I noticed construction workers working on the elevator. I felt very disappointed that I was put in an (upgraded) room next to the elevator and that there was no warning of works ahead. If staff would have told me I would have decided to choose another Starwood property. I understand construction works need to be done and can be "unforeseen" according the hotel management's reaction. But one should never put a Platinum loyalty customer in a room where you know construction needs to be done.
My complaint at the reception was first waved, "because we upgraded you and in Germany the night lasts from 22:00 to 06:00". After getting very disappointed the woman at the reception would one give me 10% discount. I asked hotel management for a more sufficient solution but they simply deny the case and tell that "construction works were unforeseen".
The rooms are great though, nice decoration and a comfortable bed, but customer service is not what it should be.response / report this review -

I am a SPG Platinum member and truly regret staying at this hotel. Customer service is horrible (arrogant staff), breakfast not included and location is not great.
