I was hesitant to book this property due to some of the reviews, but I'm glad I did and I'm not too sure what half these reviews are even talking about. The people leaving negative reviews need to either set realistic expectations when traveling all-inclusive, or increase their budgets. The food was very decent (especially the Italian and Japanese restaurant) with a lot of selection. Drinks were strong and service was exceptional. Rooms were cleaned and the mini fridge was refilled daily. It was my boyfriends birthday during our stay and they celebrated for him twice including decorating our door :) beautiful beach and close to everything you could need. Overall a great stay!
Beachfront hotel, with a Dive shop and dock/pier/wharf for chartered dive boats to service!! Protected swimming area, right next to the locals beach. Day 2 - so far so good. I’d come back and stay again.
I'm completely unsatisfied and sooo disappointed with this resort. I recommended that nobody stay here. Please do not waste your money. I am currently staying at this resort and completely regret it. No Air condition for 3 nights in the peak of summer. Waited an hour to be seated at an ALL inclusive restaurant and once seated they were out of a few of the top choices. Cant get into the reserved restaurants because they are all full. The food isn't great, the only good part are the beaches.
Absolutely loving my 20th wedding anniversary vacation here. The place can use (and has coming) an update, but still lovely. Even more enjoyable are the people..especially Valerie (my personal favorite), Kimberly, & Tyrone in VIP services and Latoya and Norma, the bartenders . They made us feel like family.
However, the swim up pool bar is a complete disappointment!! More reviews to come…still here 😃😃.
The Sunscape resort at Curaçao was top notch all the way around! The ocean front and beach was amazing, staff was awesome, and the entertainment at night was great! By far the best vacation I have ever gone on! The island and water was beautiful, lot’s to do and see. We will definitely be returning to Sunscape soon!
This resort does not try to convince you that everything is perfect, they however do demonstrate a constant drive towards improvement. The staff is genuine, attentive and pleasant. All issues are either addressed immediately or escalated towards the appropriate individuals. Staff are happy and seemingly encouraged to be themselves, not prententious at all.
Expectations are met or easily exceeded. This resort does not rest on it's laurel's.
Bottom line: you can easily observe the constant improvement brought to this resort by it's dedicated staff.
My experience at the Sunscape Resort was very mixed. Some of the staff were very attentive (including Sheila and Jamil who saved my bacon by bringing my iPad to the airport!) while others simply couldn’t be bothered. Part of the problem is that as an “all inclusive resort” and for the amount they charge, you have a certain expectation of service. When that’s met only some or even most of the time, then you’re kind of let down.
The good parts:
* beach is excellent, with great snorkelling!
* kids club was fantastic and really took care of my niece so the adults could relax
* all kinds of entertainment options
* very close to excellent diving both on and off resort
* food is good to great, with lots of options at the buffet
* never any shortage of drinks
The bad parts:
* all kinds of small problems in the rooms, from doors that don’t open easily, to not having towel hooks in the bathroom, to leaky air conditioners
* sometimes have to wait for a while to get into a restaurant
* inattentive staff at some restaurants would mean that you’d either have to wait a long time to get a drink, or go and get it yourself
* called three times for a porter to get my bags, ended up walking them to the front desk after waiting over 20 minutes
In short, the resort can be great, but is inconsistent. If I weren’t with my family, I would have preferred to go to a cheaper hotel and then just go diving. With my family, the kids club is what made this stay worth it.Show less
Amazing place for families. The kids club was great for my little girl. People working here are very friendly. It's very close to beach which was great. Food was decent and room was perfect for our situation. I would definitely come back here.
The ONLY "saving grace" for this resort was their beautiful beaches. The majority of the staff have no manners. They wouldn't even part their lips to say a simple " Good Morning ". I stayed in Junior Suite with an ocean view. The room was very dated and there was no hot water for my entire stay. I made several compliants to the staff, which have all fallen on deaf ears. They advertise about the different amenities such as 24 hours food service, which was a lie. All the food services were closed from 5pm to 630pm for dinner preparation. And the " swim up "bar was never open more than 2 hours on any day. I was very disappointed the service. Never again!
Great vacation!
Entertainment staff very friendly and outgoing! Numerous activities planned per day/evening.
We stayed in Block 5. Room was nice and clean. Nice size balcony, with a pool right there. Only way it could have been better is if we had a ground floor room in this block!
Beach was clean and nice. No major waves due to a breakwater they have. It makes the area good for swimming and snorkelling. Lots fish underwater when we were there. Kids enjoyed feeding and swimming with them. Equipment is provided for free for 1 hour a day from the dive shop that is on site.
Food and drink. All good, no complaints! Restaurants provided a different variety of foods, with the steak house being the best in our opinion!Service provided was good but depended on how busy they were at the time.
Easy access from here to Willemstad. Take the free shuttle provided, or if do not want wait take the bus(actually a van!) from the bus stop across the street. The sign in the front window will tell you what route they are driving! They charge a flat fee of $2US for each trip.
There is a Casino on the property also!
Very fun staff! Awesome beach. Love all the activities. It is a small resort so everything is close which is really nice. Close to shopping and they have an amazing spa with the best deep tissue massage!
We stayed at sunscape for a week in October for our honeymoon. It was amazing. The beaches are clean and well taken care of, although the coral can be a little rough on your feet. The staff was so helpful and friendly and they all work so hard.the food was good, the steak house was our favorite and the japanese restaurant was also great. the buffet was quick and easy and there was a decent selection. The room was perfect, very clean and the bed was super comfortable. There is plenty to do in the area and at the resort. Honestly the best vacation we have ever had!! Can't wait to go back!!
Beach is clean, ocean is very easy for children a s grandparents to swim in do to the breakwater (no waves, currents). Room quality it's pretty good, but varies based on building and if "sun club." Decent restaurant selection, the buffet leaves something to be desired, but is sufficient. Drinks have decent pours. Free to rent swim/snorkel/kayak gear. Staff seems happy, kind, and very accommodating.
The best beatiful water for you , kids, seniors, everyone! Amazing people- staff, very welcome & friendly! Piece of Heaven!
Rooms are clean and big enough! Kitchen delicious, no lobsters but very good !
Has to be fixed with warm water in the room,
Some details about electticity , fan, etc.
However, when you will see the seaside water , nothing compared to it and everything else just never been better! We had an amazing vacation seven days!
Right. So the sunscape resort. Was a nice experience. The hotel was clean, staff was pleasant. Despite reading negative reviews about the staff there, in my opinion they were quite helpful and always willing, ready and able to assist you with anything. I loved how everyobe can speak at least 3 different languages. ALL STAFF MEMBER WERE EXCELLENT. They made my stay comfortable. The resort has a lot of activities. The beach is quite remarkable as well. Crystal clear water. You can actually snorkel right at the resort and see a wide variety of sealife. Snorkel equipment is free for 1 hour. For 24 hours you have to pay. Close to the resort is the mambo beach which is a must see. There are shops, bars, restaurants, dive shops, a tattoo shop, a wide variety bars. All in all a good experience added to the list. Big up Tyrone.
The beach is beautiful, with awesome snorkeling a few feet in. The weather in Curaçao is perfect. But the resort food is pretty horrible. Same mediocre dishes every day. Drinks are also lacking quality if you want anything resembling a mojito or the like. Pools are nice They need some help as they are obviously old, but because of the Curaçao weather they are wonderfully warm. Rooms are meh. I don't put much weight on the rooms though. If they could just put some effort into making better quality food it would make it so much better.
Went for a wedding, which was beautiful and very well done. The views and resort itself are very beautiful. The resort is aimed toward families and older people, which would be good if that's what you're looking for. As someone in her mid twenties and single, it seemed to be lacking a bit. The entertainment wasn't great either. On the plus side, Mambo Beach and other entertainment outside of the resort is nearby and easy to get to, and worth checking out.
Fantastic beach. The staff try there best and for the most part are fantastic though some need to reminded to smile even though they are not too enthusiastic about there jobs. Grounds are very well kept.
My wife and I are currently staying here. Do not book this run down slum. The service is horrible, the food quality is horrible, the room is laughable. 1 cu. ft. Mini fridge that they call a mini bar. 3 mini no-name beers, 3 bottles if water and 3 cokes. That's the mini bar. It does not matter if you tip well or not, the service is horrible. The staff are probably extremely underpaid and just don't care. Zero customer service. ZERO!!!
The hostess was showing us to our seats at the Italian restaurant, she opened the door for herself and it closed in my wife's face. She just held out the menus for us to grab while looking away. Just rude.
Listen to me. Do not book here. The resort credit is bait and switch.
DO NOT COME HERE!!!!
Thank goodness for the scuba staff. They are the highlight if this trip.
DO NOT BOOK THIS DUMP, IT'S FAR FROM A RESORT.
Hotel needs upgrading in terms of rooms. However, rooms were clean. Food is average, wanted to have some more local options. Long wait times for coffee in the morning better to get it on your own. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Great if staying for a weekend. More than that and you start noticing details like food repetitiveness, demagnetized keys due to continuous reuse. Clean and protected beach is a huge plus. As with most pools, if you have a low immune system, better go to the beach; too many people get in dirty. Not the resort's fault, just a fact of life.
I visited the Sunscape hotel in Curacao from July 20th to 23rd 2017. Had a wonderful time. The beach was absolutely divine. The food was great. There was always a variety of food and fruit at the World Cafe. At the Japanese restaurant the food was prepared before us and then served. That was an experience. Special commendations to the Italian restaurant. The food there was really delicious. All of the staff were friendly and efficient and really made our stay comfortable. I must make special mention of Rochelle at the Blue Water Grill for such wonderful service with a smile and Norbert, one of the security personnel working hard to keep the guests safe. Special mention also to the staff at the poolside bar. Thanks to everyone there for really making it a memorable stay.
Great hotel. The hotel itself doesn't have a complex architectural feel and it's an older hotel that is maintained. The food in the world cafe is blah. The other restaurants are better.
My stay at Sunscape was great. The food, drinks and atmosphere were amazing. The ease of access to pools, restaurants, the beach and other forms of entertainment made the stay very enjoyable. The rooms were comfortable, however, they lacked regular maintenance. For example, my room was quite warm and my roommate and I had to ask for a fan for the room. Also, a maintenance crew had to come to our room to fix a problem with the toilet. Other people who we came with us also complained about problems with their rooms. All in all, I would say that I had an amazing vacation at Sunscape, but I hope that they fix some of the problems in the rooms so that they can minimize customer complaints.
The hotel is nice but rooms are hit an miss. Not clean, mold in the bathroom and clumps of previous guests hair etc. But staff where quick to clean up. Beds are awesome. Clean sheets an pillows. Pools an restaurants are nice , food is fresh an flavourful. Coffee is excellent. May come back but only with a group to party.
Great service. Very cordial and warm staff. Excellent service. Was received with a drink and warm towel. The beach is breath taking and surreal. Music and drinks all day long with spectacular views. Cannot say it any better.
Been to this resort 4 times since 2004, and this is the 3rd change of management but definitely the best! Updated, stylish decor is great. Staff are friendly and accommodating but service was lackingtried to order room service breakfast one day, but after multiple calls that went unanswered, I had to drag myself to the buffet. Bartenders Kenneth & "Baby Love" Norma were the BEST!! Family friendly with EXCELLENT snorkeling for novices! Another CON was the change to the 4 specialty restaurantsreservations are no longer needed BUT it is way too hard to get a table at any of them without a 2 hour wait.
Still, one of the BEST all inclusives on the island!!
Overall really nice resort. The rooms could do with a touch of paint and retouching but clean and ok. Staff extremely friendly and sweet. Good food, nice beach, good snorkeling. Close to Willemstad for shopping etc.
Friendly staff. Clean rooms and facilities. Beautiful beach. Food service can be slow. Buffet and restaurants food is average. Drinks from the bars are good.
Curaçao is such a beautiful country, but this hotel was terrible. The pros would definitely be the water and the beach. It was gorgeous and they do give you snorkels to use free of charge which was great. We were able to see a lot in the water. However, there were too many cons. When we went in our room it smelled a little moldy, but we didn't think much of it at first. The bathroom had ants everywhere, but given we were in a tropical country, we tried not to let it bother us. We really aren't complainers. But as our mini vacation went on, we started noticing little bites on us. I just assumed it was mosquito bites because I am prone to them. On our last day when we were packing our things I realized there were fleas on the bed!! I was so disgusted that we didn't notice this sooner and realized that these were what the bites were from. The mold smell also never went away, only got worse. Furthermore, the food at this place was terrible and so much for having a swim up bar, no one was ever there. We had to constantly get out of the pool and go to a different bar. We also constantly had to wait more than an hour to get into any of the sit down restaurants and finally gave up and went to the buffet, where the food was less than appetizing. For me it was worse because I am a vegetarian and the options were basically non existent at all of the places we tried. We complained to management at check out but they didn't seem to care, just told us to fill out the survey. Then told us to take it up with jetblue since we booked the hotel through them. I couldn't believe that they wouldn't even listen to our concerns - we were only complaining about the bugs and mold. These are definite health issues. I will never stay at a Sunscape affiliated hotel after this experience!
The worst vacation we ever had. Where to start?
Food: There is no variety – the same menu for every day. I had a feeling that some of it was from previous days. Food is absolutely tasteless. No fruits that you would expect – only cantaloupe, watermelon, and pineapple. Whenever we had bananas or papaya – they were gone in a second. No fresh bakery. If you like to have farmer cheese or white cheese, or lox for breakfast, you can forget about it - does not exist at all. But the best part of it – there is no salt on the table. Only black pepper . When we asked for salt, it was given to us in a zip bag and only once. Only one tea brand – Lipton.
To get freshly cooked food( still the same food every day) – go to the bar at the beach. Food tasteless but fresh. But, you will have to stay in line for about 30 min to get it.
Service: Service is horrible. The main excuse for everything – Sorry, I forgot. You will wait for about 10-30 minutes to get cup of water, or a fork, or a spoon, or..whatever you need. If you have kids or you are disabled, or an elder person, make sure you are requesting rooms on the first floor. The elevator is constantly out of service.
Restaurants: There is no reservation system. It means, if you want to dine at any restaurant, you have to wait in line. When all seats are taken, you will have to wait for a second round. No, you cannot reserve it. You have to stay, watch, and wait for other people to finish.
Checkout: Our door cards were deactivated 30 minutes prior to the check-out time. We were not able to get in to the rooms. We had to change them 3 times and after all, the security guy had to use the master key to open the doors.
Cleaning Service: Rooms were clean and towels were changed daily.
