This resort is at the bottom of the price spectrum for reason. The rooms are rundown and and In I’ll repair even for Cuba standards. We had to move rooms three times and eventually paid to upgrade just to have beds that had intact headboards, working outlets and curtains without mold.

We flew with the Sunwing tour operator and were not only poorly treated like cattle during all travel; our concerns were not addressed and we’ve received no response to emails.

The beach is unclean and the possibility of having your resort issued beach towel stolen, leaving you with a C$20 charge is quite high. The problems seem endemic.

The clientele who return here appear to do so for the ability to smoke where ever they wish and excessively drink cheap alcohol. Some of the restaurants had a few very repetitive dishes that were tolerable but no one goes to Cuba for the food.

Great three star resort. Don't eat at the buffet - have breakfast at Benny's. Excellent beach view and ocean. My favourite Cuban resort.

Beaches are absoultly amazing and clean. Very big resort so many places to eat, drink and swim. Food is half decent as long as your not a picky eater. Room's are dated but cleaned well by the staff; I would recommend upgrading your room. I felt very safe and the locals were pretty nice. I loved the 24 hour bar, as it always had fries, hamburgers and hot dogs; I would recommend bring a speaker if you like music.

If you don't care about the room or the food, and love a beautiful beach, this is an awesome destination. The grounds are pretty. The AC in our room worked well. But that's where the positives stop. The food is bland and unattractive (even for a buffet). The beds are uncomfortable and old. The staff are helpful when they are in a good mood.

We met many people who go back to this resort year after year and I can't figure out why. Even the staff refer to the standard rooms as "the dungeons" or, when being candid, "s**t holes." The food was atrocious. By the end of the week we, and many of the other guests we met, were fantasizing about food and what we were going to eat when we got home. Also, be very, very careful if you have food allergies - cross contamination is rampant. No vegetarian or vegan options. And there seems to be zero hygiene standards. Beach was lovely. Weather was good when we were there. Cockroaches and rats in the rooms.

The resort has improved since we were there one year ago. The physical space is better. The food is fine but this is only about a 2 star resort so don't expect amazing. It is good and basic. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating

Its a fun resort. They have been updating it since i was there last. Pay the extra $$ and get the villas, worth the views and room size. The management changed a few years ago and its nit as great as it once was. But its still good.

Facilities have improved over previous years and staff are always friendly and helpful. Food isn't that bad for a Cuban resort. We will go back again

Here comes the main thing about our vacation to Cuba in this particular hotel!

Just look at this horrific stairs! Without anything to hold on!
My mother fell down from the top of the stairs on her face on the concrete, the on the fourth night of staying in the hotel! She is 76 years old lady! She broke her wrist!!!
It was raining and there was so much water on it that she slipped,,I was screaming on top of my lungs for help there was almost nobody around,,I thought she was dead!
It is a miracle that she is not!
If my mother was not so strong she would be really dead!
My mother was not only one that fell down other younger people did too, the stairs are from hell!

This is the "only" one thing that we got traumatized from!

The way we were treated at the freaking hotel is beyond horrific!
This particular hotel was like my home in earlier years of vising Cuba now I think that is the most disgusting and scary place on earth!
It was never like this never! Now is much better for Cuban tourist(wonder where they got money from?)!
IT got so much worse for international tourists!
The mentality the culture of those people is beyond shocking and disgusting!
Things changed in worst possible way in 3 years since I last visited Cuba if I only knew I would never go to this hotel, never ever!

We were abused for 14 days of staying there mostly from Cuban tourists,,giving us look with so much hate,,pushing us aside wherever we went,,they always get served first then us,, we were waiting for food,, and by the time we got to the buffet all food was gone,,we were hungry all the time,,,,, whenever I went for breakfast nobody ever asked me if I want coffee or anything to drink I was ignored all the time like I did not exist,,,,we were waiting for drinks,,,for everything,,endless waiting for any kind of service,,,everywhere! They were all so rude, arrogant, laughing, making fun of us,such a horrific "human beings"! Then the same torture from most of the workers at the reception, money exchange office,,restaurants, bars, locals at main beach,,so dirty,,,,yelling all day and night,,drunken alcoholics fouls,,.On the main beach there was so much garbage,,food,, bones from meat,,glasses, etc,,I felt disgusted all the time,,I even got abused from the worker the day we were leaving! I was close to collapse!
If we had to stay one more night I swear someone would end up killed!
For 14 days spending there I have slept about 30 hours,, because all the trauma during the day I could not sleep,, I also do not know how I survived all that trauma!

    THIS VACATION WAS NIGHTMARE!!
NOW I NEED VACATION FROM "VACATION"
I AM SHAKING AND CRYING FROM ALL TRAUMA! I WILL END UP IN THE HOSPITAL I FEEL IT AND I KNOW IT!
I COULD NOT RELAX AND ENJOY MY VACATION FOR 5 MIN.IN ALL 14 DAYS SPENDING THERE! IT WAS SUCH A IMPACT ON MY BODY AND MY IMMUNE SYSTEM!
I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SO MUCH NEGATIVITY ON VACATION! IT WAS WORSE THEN WHEN I WAS ON CHEMOTHERAPY, I AM CANCER SURVIVOR AND I WENT TO CUBA FOR RECOVERING IRONIC HA!
ONLY FEW PEOPLE IN RESORT WERE NICE AND FRIENDLY REST OF THEM WERE HORRIFIC!
SO MUCH BRUTAL CHANGES HAS HAPPENED IN 3 YEARS SINCE OUR I LAST VISIT TO CUBA, EVEN THE LOCALS BEHAVED LIKE ENEMIES!
WE FEEL LIKE WE WERE IN WAR ZONE NOT IN VACATION IN CUBA!
NEVER GO TO CUBA TO HOTELS LESS THEN 4 OR 5 STARS NEVER!
THIS HOTEL IS 3 STARS BUT IN MY OPINION CONSIDERING EVERYTHING IN THE HOTEL IS NOT EVEN 1 STAR! THE FOOD THE DRINKS THE SERVICE EVERYTHING IS BEYOND ANY HUMAN CONDITIONS!
I GAVE TIPS TO THE ALL WORKERS SO THEY WOULD BE NICER TO US,, BUT THEY WERE SO UNGRATEFUL, UNBELIEVABLE!

DO NOT EVER GO THERE IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!
    WE COULD BE BOTH DEAD!

MY DEAR MOTHER AND ME FEEL CONSEQUENCES FROM ALL TRAUMA THAT WE SUFFERED FOR ALL 14 DAYS STAYING IN THE HOTEL SINCE THE DAY WE ARRIVED ON CHECK IN TO TO THE DAY WE LEFT ON CHECK OUT!
WE ARE SO DEPLY HURT HOW WE WERE TRETEAD ON OUR VACATION, SO SHAKEN UP! MY MOTHER HAS CHANGED SO MUCH SINCE WE COME BACK!

I DO NOT EXPECT LUXURY AT 3 STAR HOTEL BUT I EXPECT BE TREATED AS A HUMAN WHICH IN THIS HOTEL DOES NOT EXISTS!

Hotel is great but a warning to female tourists travelling to Guardalavaca: do not trust the kite boarder who goes by the name of Alejandro Batista Ramirez (Alex). Alex is short, little man, dark hair with a microphone tattoo on his left side.

Alex will try to make you feel sorry for him because "he is Cuban and has nothing" he will tell you he cannot have children because of an "accident" he had when he was younger. This is a lie. One among many lies that he told me over the 6 months I knew him. Alex will tell you he loves you the day he meets you because he thinks this is what the tourists want to hear. He will tell you that you are the best person in the world and that he needs you. He will party with you, dance and drink with you, make you feel like you are important. He will be tell you he's not like other Cuban men and you can trust him. He will bring you to his home to meet his mother and grandparents so that you feel like you are special to him. You are not special, this is all part of his plan to try to get you pregnant so you have no choice but to marry him. He just wants a ticket to Canada, but is too lazy to work for it. He does not care about anyone but himself and he will break your heart and ruin your life. I learned this all the hard way. I was in a difficult time of my life when I met him and I stupidly fell for his lies. I always had a voice in the back of my mind telling me to be careful but I didn't listen, I was lonely and here was this young handsome kite boarder giving me attention.

I do not want any woman to have to go through the hell I went through. So be careful ladies, you cannot trust Alex like most Cuban men. Have fun with them but remember that all they want is a ticket off the island.

The best vacation value in Cuba. Long 45 minute bus ride from Holguin Airport-but well worth it. Amazing beach, safe, & secure environment. The best feature is the large selection of a la carte restaurants.

It was all right for the money but cost us extra because of a mix up in rooms. We were taken for 70pesos by the nurse. Be careful of the food. We had disentry and nausea. Ocean swimming and pools were fun. If you want to vacation without children, don't go there. It was ridiculous. The hotel does not adhere to the no smoking rules. It was horrible. It should be 2stars. We did like the bar and restaurant staff and made a couple life long friends.

A huge resortbe prepared to walk as the resort sprawls. kind of like 3 resorts in one. Rooms were ok in the barracks the bed was softno mini fridge was provided so I paid extra fro one. it didn't work. Glad I had a cooler and ice was available from the bars. Food got repetitive.. glad there are a few options available for food in the area. Large market nearby was nice too.

The hotel has it's charm. It needs some TLC but what place in Cuba doesnt need it? Lots to do and see, its a beautiful place to visit. Just remember it's a 3 STAR hotel.

Well what can I say we are used to 4 stars accommodation's and this is definitely not it. the rooms where very old and the bed's extremely uncomfortable there where probably 20 years old or something this place was packed with noisy low income people that smoked everywhere and behave badly, I guess this was to be expected as this was a cheap vacation. The good side was that the food was very good for Cuba. I could have use a little bit more variety but it was fine none the less. The personnel was courteous and helpful. The internet connection was unusable on wifi. The beach was clean and there was none of the chairs reservation bull #@%#$@ as there where people providing chairs as we needed them. The drinks where ok nothing to fancy. So I can say that this is not a place I will return to.
