This is a one star hotel, where I had a five star vacation. But it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

Location, location, location. Other than that, this place is a dump. But not all in a bad way. Face it, Cuba has had a hard time of it, and this hotel is doing its best to stay in business. Just assume that everything is broken; hot water, running water, the AC . . . if it works in your room, lucky you.

BUT THE PEOPLE are not broken. There is an electricity in the air. This hotel is located three blocks from the malecón, the famous long sea wall of Havana. Because that's where everyone goes after work/school, to hang out, sip a bit of rum, gossip, etc. A total blast.

The hotel is also right on the main taxi route that runs between Vedado, through the heart of Central Havana and on to Old Havana. These are the classic 1950's American taxis that the Cubans take to get where they need to go. Very inexpensive (in local CUP currency, not CUC tourist currency).

And this hotel is very noisy because it is literally surrounded by music. There's an evening dinner Cuban music show in the lounge. On the top floor. There are three open air bars next to the hotel that have live Cuban music every evening. Great fun, if you like that kind of thing.

As far as the staff, room cleaners (chambe rmaids) - eh, some good, some not so much. I requested that my room NOT be cleaned, and tipped the cleaning woman every morning anyway. I tipped the wait staff at the local restaurant very generously, and one evening they very generously returned my passport (that had fallen out of my pocket) to the hotel desk staff. Yep, tipped them all.

And at that run down, noisy broken down hotel - I had one of the best vacations of my life.

My daughters and I arrived in Cuba on August 1, 2017 for our 1st visit. We had reservations at an airbnb in Vedado, we did not have the correct address so our cabdriver let us off at Hotel Vedado so we can use wifi to search for the address. It was raining cats and dogs too! Lo and behold, wifi was not available that day, Rameses and Miguelito went above and beyond their duty to help us. We were so grateful for their assistance and they eventually got us on our way. To me a 1st impression is a lasting impression, We came back to see them on our way to the airport to leave them with a token of our appreciation but they were on a later shift that day. Please give them our regards! This hotel is lucky to have such professional and hospitable employees!

Gentlemen Galas Hotel, I was in Havana City Cuba hosted in Hotel Vedado the night of August 3 and from August 4 to 6 in Hotel Colina.
My experience at Hotel Vedado is poor, the hotel is in very poor condition, there is no light in the room, dirty towels and in very poor condition, broken windows, a disaster in the end.
The Hotel Colina does not have water or bath, when I go to the hotel I stay in room 407 and I had several times to complain because the magnetic key was not useful, and complain about the water, other guests told me that they had to fill the basket of The garbage with a glass to be able to bathe.
In short I inform you so that they know in what conditions these hotels are that distance much price versus state and service.

the name " hotel" is misleading , its a room to sleep in, no more , even the showers don't work well !
go there only if you want a room the leave your stuff and pass out ,
pro:
you will learn to appreciate your life back ,wherever you come from!
you can walk around the city , take a taxi to old havana

cons:
its ugly and depressing inside the hotel but the rooms are okay

before going there i read the reviews and i thought how bad can it be , these guys are complaining for no reason , BUT NO ITS seriously that BAD, oh and ps i got food poisoning ( breakfast )had to go to hospital and get a shot up in my ass, and spend two days inside , no joke !

We weren't staying in the hotel but visited the lobby two times. The drinks are mixed good and the overall ambient is good with live music.
The furniture seems a bit old.

My worst hotel in Cuba. Good location, though. Most importantly, it is a fire trap. A disaster waiting to happen. I checked out the stairwells, they are narrow, steep, and unlit. If a fire happened, the upper floors would crowd the stairwells and many would be hurt or killed.

Horrible, dirty, ghetto. When I called they said $38 a night, got there and it was $46 somehow, no receipt or breakdown given. ALL employees have a bad attitude. I only ordered french fries at 9pm and the black lady working the night shift walked away irritated assuming I don't speak spanish and said to the other young man working, "Esa gente no quieren comer no se porque vienen al la cafeteria!" So rude but still expecting a tip. Cockroaches in the rooms, in the bed, and even crawling on the walls in the restaurant. The a/c controls were broken so I was either in an arctic blast or sweating from turning it off. Beds are nasty and cheap. Also, my kid and the other kids got to swim next to a couple almost doing it in the pool, and the same couple slapping and hitting and swearing at eachother 1 hour later. Pool staff didn't care since they were buying beer. Worst hotel ever.
