By far our favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. The rooms are nice and large. The views are spectacular with lots of nature around. The new restaurant has some of the best food we ate anywhere in the country. Staff is friendly and helpful. Close to Dominical and Uvita which have many things to offer.

The wildlife sanctuary next door is really amazing as well. A must see even if you don't stay at the hotel.

Cool to see wild life at your doorstep but sheets were stained on both beds and villa was very basic in quality. A little rundown. It does have a full size kitchen with refrigerator and stove for cooking as well.

I can’t say enough great things about Villas Alturas and the amazing people that work there. We arrived exhausted at midnight and were so grateful to be greeted by the security guard with a smile, a hug and a beer for my husband. The one-bedroom villa was much nicer than we expected…large living area, great kitchen and a nice sized bedroom with a nice comfy bed. It wasn’t until the morning when the sun came up that we realized what a beautiful place we were at. Throughout our stay, we received the most incredible service from the staff…better than any place we’ve visited. We’d love to acknowledge the two Mari’s, Jennifer, Karina, and Marlon for really going out of their way

I’d like to specifically acknowledge Alana, is the best! Prior to our arrival, she worked with us to pick the tours we wanted and get reservations made. She was there to answer my numerous questions about packing, weather, the room, etc. She’s always so nice and so helpful - a real asset to this Villas Alturas. We picked tours recommended on their website and were so impressed with each one. Also, a big thank you to the owner Tom, who puts his customers first and helped to create some special memories.

To top it off, after we checked out and left, I realized that I forgot my cross necklace at the local spa. The masseuse had taken it off for my massage and I left it in the tray. I was heartbroken to think that it was gone. For the heck of it, I emailed the owner Tom and he immediately contacted the owner of the spa and told me the good news. They had my necklace!! He offered to pick it up for me himself and make arrangements to get it back to me. I am so grateful.

I only have one suggestion for this magical place. It would be great if they had more change on hand for larger bills. There were times when we wanted to tip the staff but couldn’t get change. We were able to do it the following day, but would much rather do it in the moment

I can’t recommend coming here enough. We are so glad we opted to come here vs. the high tourist areas. We really felt like we were in Costa Rica. There’s so many fun things to do close by (or a reasonable distance). Thank you Villas Alturas for helping make our vacation the most memorable and fun one that we’ve ever had.

Don’t miss out on the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary that is attached. It’s a must see….

Absolutely amazing!!! I'm hard to please, typical Los Angeles girl. The only thing better than the view is the hotel staff, they made it such a wonderful experience. I came for the view but would come back for treatment. Food and drinks are great, villas are well equipped and cozy. Hope you like hammocks bc that's what you're also getting! It's a little hard to get up to the actul property, make sure you have a 4x4 or good insurance :)

Villas Alturas is an unbelievable place to stay. The location and views surpass any place I have stayed in Hawaii. The staff is friendly and accommodating and you cannot help yourself from feeling you have experienced the true Costa Rica after staying here.

The most amazing view around. Villas are beautiful and fully equipped. Staff is friendly. There is an amazing wildlife sanctuary there. You have got to check this place out!

Live in the area and visited Villas Alturas with my wife for lunch.

Service, food and the view were amazing. Highly recommend this spot for a romantic meal. The views are incredible.

I highly recommend visiting during the daytime to take full advantage of the views.

There's a wildlife refuge onsite as well - it's a bit pricey, but if you want to see/learn more about some of the native wildlife, plan to check it out.
