We visited the Westin a week ago for 4 days and I must say I was highly impressed. The liquor wasn’t watered down like most all inclusive resorts and the food didn’t taste like plastic. We stayed at the royal club area in tower one. The rooms are very clean and large with a balcony. I had my two “MVP” employees which happen to be John in tower one and Charlie the chef at the Italian restaurant. From day 1 John was super friendly and catered to all our needs and wants. Charlie made the best ravioli outside of Italy. We are at the Italian restaurant everyday. On the second day Charlie would come out when he saw us to personally ask us what we wanted and how we wanted it. His passion in the kitchen really shows when you take a bite out of his meals. We went as far as to offering him his own restaurant here in the States.
We went to the Westin for spring break 2021 and were pleased with the resort. It’s beautiful! The rooms were stylish, comfortable, and clean. The facility is so pretty, and it was amazing to be able to see monkeys, coatis, and iguanas right outside our door. The food was delicious! We enjoyed all the restaurants, especially the international restaurant (Faisanela). The staff was helpful and friendly. Our very favorite place to be was in the pool- it was gorgeous! And the beach access was right next to the pool. Everything was really convenient. Lots of local artisans all in one place make it super easy to find souvenirs at a reasonable price. You can even get massages right on the beach! We went on once-in-a-lifetime excursions through a guy named Erik Garcia that we met at the beach entrance. Make sure you talk to him for all your trips away from the resort- he and his staff (we worked with Aaron) are super knowledgeable and friendly, and made our trips top notch. Never a worry with Erik or Aaron- they were great! Overall, loved our time at the Westin! I would definitely stay here again, and recommend to anyone.
The wild life running around the resort is pretty cool. The monkeys are fun to watch. The food and service at the restaurant A+. When you go to the beach you will find Erik G with the blue Google shirt. He can set you up with excursions and save you money.. and just about anything you need.
The resort is beautiful, the staff are second to none. Any request that you have is met and expectations are in most cases exceeded. The Robert Trent Jones golf course Is absolutely gorgeous with plenty of wild life along the way. Recommend staying at the Royal Beach Suits. The pool is much more private than the main pool. You have to go see Erik on the beach ( blue shirt with his name on his hat). He will assist with any excursions, activities, tours you would like to do during your visit. We will definitely be returning for future vacations!
The pool next to the beach is closed.
Excellent clean and generous resort. Staff go out their way to please you. Excellent pool and pool bar, very generous on the alcohol in drinks. The food in the restaurants is great and large veriaty , room service and shuttles are all available and fast. Room are huge and clean and feels like a VIP for everyone! I wish I could return here again in the future. Once in a lifetime time experience
Gorgeous, luxury rooms with big private patios. Amazing food. Lots of restaurants to choose from. So many fun free activities like beach yoga, pool volleyball, water polo, bike tours, kayaks Shows are mind-blowing. Service is good. I can't think of a single negative.
Gorgeous place & amazing breakfast buffet with fresh organic food. The salsas here are amazing. You can watch the Howler Monkeys play in the mango trees from your bungalow. 24 hour room service & there is so much to do here. The Spa was to die for, make your appointment early in the morning & you have access to the Spa for the day. I feel in love with Costa Rica & left part of my heart there
Don’t stay here at all the food here is horrible the rooms suck and so does the beach I had to walk almost a mile to get back to my room which is observe the front lobby services horrible (DON’T STAY HERE!!!) housekeeping knocked on our door at 7:00 am when we were still sleeping other resort options are (the four seasons JW Marriott ) aka the rooms suck so much AND THE STAFF ARE THE PITS AND SO ARE THE CONCIERGE. You would be mad at this place. If I could rate zero stars I would. We spent 3 hours just checking in to the place thanks a lot for ruining my vacation with family.
A message to the Westin (TRY HARDER TO MAKE THIS A LITTLE MORE FUN AND MORE ENJOYABLE FOR PEOPLE).
AMAZING!!! I can not say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend. The people there go over and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. Everything was great from staff to room service to restaurants to pool service. I will definitely be returning!!!
Great service and place, really nice staff. except for one big problem The food. Good food but availability is horrible. Need to book dinner restaurants as soon as you get there for the next 7-10 days in advance otherwise you simply cannot eat there. Pain in the ass to have to schedule your days around the 4 hours and 3-4 day a week availability of these restaurants. There are only like 3 different restaurants that serve as several different "restaurants" which convert to different names throughout the day to allow the resort to advertise more restaurants than they really have. If you find yourself hungry at a strange point in the day, good luck. You can order off of a very limited room service menu that is decent at best. I wouldn't mind as much if this was a privately owned resort but Westin and Marriott are extremely rich and you can feel the greed while you are here. Overall great expertise but the food and restaurant setup is what brings this from a 5 star to a 2.75 in my opinion. Costa Rica and their people are beautiful but Marriot needs to work on this one. Disappointed
This place in magical!! I would have given 5 stars but they really dropped the ball a few times during my stay. Being a concierge myself I know how things are suppose to work and they have done like so many other properties these days and outsource the concierge desk. This means the person that is book tours etc does not work for the hotel and could care less about your stay. They just want commission on tours etc Long story short, we missed a hotel reservation because they couldn't get us a rental car ( which we did say we needed!!!!! ) then we called for a taxi which they said would take 15 minutes. It took aver an hour and we ended up missing our flight!
But once again, other than that. The hotel is beautiful, all the staff members are so welcoming and friendly and what is within their power to do, they will. I was just expecting more from the VIP services.
Absolutely amazing! Employees were very kind and my family and I got the best treatment possible here. Would 10/10 recommend it was outstanding. No problems or negative comments about this resort. I love it!
The staff was very nice. Our stay was comfortable. Housekeeping left candy on bed. (it was a local favorite, resort needs to have it available, it was awesome) had a wonderful time and adventures were great. Definitely worth a second trip.
We Arrived in the afternoon, we were greeted by a very corteous concierge, refreshing drinks offered, they took care of our accommodations, it is a very big hotel, golf carts provided for all sorts of transportation, to the beach, to the buffet, to the night club, is well distributed and placid. Good and tasty food, all inclusive, don't start your diet here.
The service was mostly great. Everyone was friendly and the bar service is excellent. This is my second time visiting. The room service needs some improvement as the fries we got were cold and then when the cleaning service arrived the next day they didn't remove or food from the room. The room has excellent air conditioning. Food and drinks are excellent at the restaurants. The bar is kept very clean. If the bartender isn't making a drink he will likely be cleaning something. We tried the tequila testing and sushi making class so far. There is so much to do that the days go by fast at the resort. I recommend going to the lunch and dinner sit down restaurants with a group of 4 out more so you can all pick a different desert and then try them all. The tips are included in the resort price so you are not expected to tip for every meal and drink. But we will trip the staff and bartenders at the end of the trip, especially if the do a good job. The Royal beach club pool is a little quieter and the swim up bar has less people than the main pool so I think it is worth it.
Worst customer service I have ever seen. I kept wanting to give them a chance but I just couldn't. Anytime we had a question they would transfer us to someone else who didn't know or couldn't answer, there were no carts around when we needed to get anywhere in the resort, and you are stuck.if you want to go to town or get to the bus stop and you don't want to pay $50 for a taxi there is no way out, you have to walk over a mile up the hill just to get to the front gate. Then if you feel okay with being stuck in the resort and get hungry, you better be ready to pay $30-$50 a person for a small plate of foodand that is if you manage to get a mandatory reservation for a dinner at any of the restaurantswhich you can't seem to do easily over the phone or in person
Worst place I have ever stayed. Good luck.
This is a gorgeous resort with friendly, helpful, and professional staff. The concierge will help you with anything, literally anything. I recommend taking advantage of the free bicycle rentals on the property, since they make it easier to get around on what is a very large premises. The drinks are well made and the food is tasty. Highly recommended, as far as all inclusive resorts go.
At this all inclusive resort, you really do get everything. Set in the rainforest, you can see and hear all sorts of animals throughout the day and night. Every room is at least a suite, and features a nice walk in shower and separate toilet. Room service is included in the all inclusive price, meaning your breakfast lunch and dinner are all covered.
Fell in love with the little stray kitties there. They are so sweet. I would order room service for them.. they were so skinny. One of the kitties got attached to me. She'd sleep on our patio & whenever I'd come back to the room, as soon as I called for her she'd come running out to greet me. So heartbroken I couldn't bring her back home with me.
I hope people are kind to them & I hope they get fed properly by others as well.
Great place to stay. Loved the week I spent here. Beautiful beach and resort. The staff were amazing and respectful. Great variety of restaurants to choose from. Pool area and pool bar was very enjoyable. Definitely recommended this place
Awesome rooms. Very friendly staff. The food is amazing and the room service at any hour with good menu items make a huge difference. This place makes you worry about nothing, they got you covered. Highly recommend can't wait to go back!
Such a beautiful place. So much food and drinks available. And they don't try to push you to do anything. They have activities fitness pool activities the beach. It was a great vacation and a truly exquisite resort. Worth every dollar.
My family and I stayed at this resort last month on our first trip to Costa Rica. It was perfect as we had an all-inclusive stay that included various cuisines from different restaurants, and activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, and much more. As my mom put it, it was a "cruise ship on land." The only problem we had was the amount of bugs, but being in a tropical rainforest there's not much you can do. Any problem we had was resolved by the hospitable staff working at the resort.
This resort is on point! Great food, pools, pool bars, and service. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Adjacent to shell beach for a great pacific sunset. Spa is amazing. On-site travel company to book excursions near and far. US-style 110 plugs made it easy to bring chargers, etc. from home with no need for a converter. Pay the extra for the all inclusive package so you know you're walking out with a $0 overage. If your kid-free stay in one of the "towers" for a private pool & pool bar adult only experience.
One improvement, for the price, a free spa treatment voucher should be included for every couple nights you stay; I was surprised to see it was full price over top of an all-inclusive package.
This was our first trip to Costa Rica. The hotel is beautiful! The natural surroundings are gorgeous.
The staff was helpful and friendly, excellent in all regards. A Very special THANK YOU TO
GUSTAVO PERALTA, who went above and beyond
His enthusiastic attitude definitely made our stay at the Westin memorable! Thanks again for going the extra mile Gustavo! We will miss you!
Service was pretty awful. I've stayed at other Marriott and JW properties and the service here doesn't even compare. The staff seemed generally unhappy to be here, they don't smile and lack the spirit to serve. The rooms are nice and clean, the beach and pools were also nice that's why I gave it two stars. Service, food and lack of transportation around the property left much to be desired. We're by the ocean and there is hardly any seafood options. On average we waited in the hot sun 10-15 min for a bus to cart us around and the properties is too large to walk.
Exceeded my expectations. Much nicer than the pictures show. From the moment we arrived the staff was fantastic. We stayed in the Royal Beach Club tower 1 Our stay was only for two nights but that were amazing. There is a private check in for the RBC and it was super easy. We arrived at 1000 and both our rooms were already available for us. We were upgraded to the third floor suite with a jungle view. It was very private which made our balcony soaking tub even more enjoyable. Our concierges for the building ,John and Bergen, made us feel like rock stars. John even gave us a private tour of the property in his golf cart. Abundant wildlife to view from the porch. Mornings are best as they wildlife is more active before it heats up. Be sure to rent a Cabana at the pool. It's a nice retreat to relax when it heats up. The pool attendant Jeffrie was super attentive to all out needs and kept the top shelf drinks coming all day. The Imperial bar at night is lots of fun with great music, super bartenders, and a really cool outdoor vibe. I would recommend the Westin for couples as well as families Thank you to all the hard working staff who made our stay very enjoyable We will be back!
Wasn't anything over the top. Rooms seemed standard, odd location choice for the TV. Food was OK, Bar service/tenders was great. Beaches were good. Clean and maintained well. Nice, but just an OK resort, nothing especially fancy.
The staff are excellent and their friendliness never seems forced. The food is fantastic and the facilities are top notch.5 stars! The beach is public not private and there are various vendors outside the gate offering everything from decorative crafts to clothing to massage to horse back rides. We found them all to be polite and not pushy at all.certainly no different than any typical cruise ship port.I would suggest you discount Paul's post. The local beachgoers absolutely do not come on the Westin property.my only suggestion to Westin is that they turn down the volume on the "disco" music pumping out of the activity center by the pool (except of course when they are conducting exercises). We had a great time and would recommend this resort to anyone.
Beautiful resort. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating and enjoyable to talk with. The pool is amazingly large and relaxing with the beach just steps outside the gate. The food was all very good, particularly the Catalina restaurant. Tours were easily booked and and free activities onsite such as snorkeling and kayaking were fun.
Love this place.
