We visited the National Park in February and it was great. Especially, because we had Lenny Montenegro as a guide, who showed us so many animals. We would have probably not even seen half of them. Also he has great binoculars with him that help getting a really good close up image.

Lenny made this visit really special and we would recommend him to anybody!

Hey guys, I don't usually write reviews. But this was definitely worthy of one and I hope I can do it justice. Spent the day at Manuel Antonio National Park. Beatrice has to be one of the best guides we've ever had. Unbelievably full of knowledge and a great sense of humor! I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for an amazing day spent looking at sloths and many other animals. But in my opinion Beatrice made it that much more enjoyable! Thank you Beatrice for an unforgettable experience!

What a beautiful day in this beautiful park! We saw a lot of animals with the help of a very kind guide, Werner. He and his telescope were a great help with finding animals far away. This trip was a treat for my camera 😊

It's kind of a cluster getting here. All sorts of people literally jumping in front of your car trying to sell you parking / tours / park tickets. The park is nice, but there is no bringing in food & no re entry if you leave. The food they have available inside isn't that great. They also close early (4 pm). Trails are decently maintained, but there were definitely loose boards & some repairs needed. I saw lots of animals though. The views were beautiful. The beaches were packed. The trails were NOT marked at all. They had lots of maps around, but even with the "you are here" many areas it's not clear at all which way to go to get to a specific location. The trails are all well defined. You won't wander off into the jungle and get lost, but you may end up walking to a scenic overlook when you wanted to head to the beach.

Amazing nature and wildlife. Hire a guide. Ours pointed out so many things we would have missed on our own, and saw those without one skip. Then they added a lot of additional information.

We all enjoyed the hike and found it well worth our time.

Yes, as others note, it's a special place. Get a guide if you can, but if you have additional time or a day, just explore the place on your own. I hit nearly 80% of the trails and many are very different from each other. The best was the point of Manuel Antonio where you will do some up hill climbing. Try to get away from people so you can listen into the wild life and those around you aren't scaring the animals away. Lots to see if you take your time. Beautiful place!

Had a great day at MA National Park! The entry fee was well priced, saw so many animals even without a guide but would definitely recommend one as you see so much more with one. The beach’s in the park were beautiful! Would love to go back again! Watch out for the raccoons as they will try to steal your belongings!

Got scammed into paying $10 for parking so anyone who is driving, DON'T stop along the side streets when driving towards the park. They look like they're wearing the national park uniform and have a whistle around their neck and will point at your car and tell you that you have to park here if you are going to the park (and they'll also try to tell you there is no further parking beyond this point - which is a lie!!).

The park in itself is beautiful and quite the hike. The beach is the best part - white sand and crystal clear warm water. There are LOTS of monkeys that play in the foliage around the beach. Lots of sloths sleeping throughout the day high up in the trees so don't forget to look way high. Also there are LOTS of people that visit the park so maybe go earlier on in the day where its a bit more quiet so the animals don't hide.

The flora, the fauna, the beaches and the staff taking very good care of all of this - this place is incredible. One will definitely need a guide to be able to see the insects, animals, birds. Guides are trained and not only have a good eye to spot interesting animals, but can also tell you all about them as well as show them to you via monocular. The guides are available at the entrance for a separate fee. We had a good guide, but I'd like to mention the one that was finding all the animals and helping to ours to see them as well. The guy's name was Albin, so if you see him, grab him.

Wonderful location to view wild life, the tour guys carry a nice telescope and are excellent at spotting creatures! The park offers the best beach access in the area, no sharks, no riptide, just beautiful warm ocean waters.

Locals get in free, so the area gets a ton of foot traffic. Strongly recommend you remove all belongings from your vehicle if you're driving as it's a very popular spot for a break-in.

My teenage son said this was one of his favorite things about our trip. Beautiful surroundings. They are working on new entrance and walkway which will be a great addition. Lots of things to see along the way deer, all sorts of spiders, tree frog, fruit bat and other bats, sloths, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, butterflies, iguana, basilisk lizards. Incredible white soft sand beaches at the end. Truly paradise! We hired a guide and he was amazing at pointing things out, talking about the nature, showing us with spotting scope and using it to take great pictures for our phones.

It was one of our best park visits in Costa Rica. The great variety of wildlife and vegetation was just what we hoped for. The icing on the cake was the white sand swimming beach with the monkeys and raccoons wandering around us. The guidance is very important as they use their telescope to get much better looking. Costa Rica at its best - at least in the dry season

BEWARE THEIVES IN CAR PARKS we had our luggage & passports stolen in a car park where we paid people to watch our cars. They leave once they get paid. We came back to smashed windows and missing items. The park itself is great but wow that experience was ruined. The guides are fierce and really I didn't think the guide was worth it. It's very difficult to know who to trust. We were stopped in the middle of the road by a guide with a whistle and an official uniform who told us to park where we did. We strongly feel that when we rejected him he didn't take it well and advised his friends about our luggage in the car park.

Entry into the park is impossible to find. The beaches are nice and the sunsets are gorgeous on the main beach before you go in. We were robbed of more than our luggage we spent the last 3 days dealing with police and scrambling to get replacement passports. Cost for emergency and replacement passports cost $600 alone and our travel insurance did not cover this.

Be safe all don't trust those parking attendants and beware of dishonest guides.

Excellent! Our tour guide was Jason who not only knew his animals and birds and everything else we came across, but he was funny and entertaining. A good sense of humor always helps. So important to have a guide, as we could be staring right at something that we know is there, but just can't spot. So many creatures do a great job of camouflaging themselves. Took great pictures through the scope he had. They limit the group size to only 6 people which was helpful because animals don't stay in the same place for very long.

Beautiful national park! I would recommend spending all day here, just to see all of the animals and to hang out on the beautiful beaches. The hiking is nice too. My parents and I visited this week, without a guided tour, and saw tons of animals up close. If you want to know more information about the animals and plants then a tour is probably best, but we prefer to see wildlife on our own. Lovely park though, with amazing animals everywhere.

Very dense national park. You can see a lot of monkeys and raccoons. With a guide you can find sloth. You can hike a bit and chill at the beach. This park really has everything. The gate locate among the hotels and restaurants, not at the beach side. There will be a lot of guide try to be official park workers and stop you. Don’t trust them. Just go straight to the gate. If you want to hire a guide, hire with trustworthy sources.

This is one of Costa Rica's most beautiful national parks. This is my second time visiting the park and there was construction to improve the already good paths. There are trails for those who want to hike around the rain forest and see the ocean from Cathedral Point (along with many other scenic views) and for those who just want to relax along the beach. Be careful if you choose to sit on the beach because the monkeys and raccoons are sneaky and will try to steal any food you may have or look through your bags. The park does not allow you to smoke or take cookies and chips into the park and they will double check your bags. It is a great place to see wildlife and relax.

The most amazing national park ever. Within a single, very walkable park you have 4 distinct biodiversity zones. If you want to really get the full experience, hire a guide. You won't regret it. I strongly recommend Aldo. He hustled and was there early in the morning well before the park opened. He is a true naturalist who had an eagle eye for spotting. We saw both types of sloths, all three monkey species and countless insects and lizards. His ear is well tuned for all the birds and was able to track down the toucans!

Amazing fauna and flora!!! I highly recommend taking a guided tour though. Our guide told us lots and pointed out plants and animals we would have never seen on our own. His telescopic lens was also incredibly useful. Included are a couple pics of some maps - because good luck finding some outside the park!

We had a wonderful experience walking through the national park and down to one of the beaches. It was hot & humid, so bring water, also I wish I had brought binoculars to of the animals up close. The breach was beautiful, some of the waves came in rather strong so be careful. we saw so many monkeys, but beware, they smell food fast! and are not afraid to come down from the trees & grab any food or drink that you have on your towels! and they are quick!

Park is great. Did not get a guide and did not need to. Was able to see 2 types of monkeys, sloths and other more usual animals. Beach is very good. It was great to relax and refresh after hiking. Parking is bazaar, still not sure which one is real one with to many fake officials trying to lure you to their ""official" parking. End up paying c3000 for closest parking near entrance.

The park here is great. Lots of wild life are roaming free and the earlier the better. Tour guides help a lot because you won't see many of the animals without their help. Plus they know where they hangout at since they live there. The park also leads you to a beach at the end of the trail so make sure you pack lunch and swim gear.

Great park. I've made a visit here every time I'm in Costa Rica. As some other reviews say, you should bypass the people waving you down trying to get you to park early on, keep on driving and park near the entrance of the park. The admission is a bit steep for tourists, but I'm only saying that as I usually go several times while I'm there and each ticket is only good for that day. There is always great wildlife to look at, including sloths, deer, monkeys, raccoons, and other local animals. The beach is a great place to relax and spend an afternoon after walking around, but if the main beach seems a bit too crowded, just continue on to the right as there's another side most people don't go to.

By far one of the greatest parks I've ever been to, but make sure you have cash when you enter. The hiking trails are breathtaking. Also, do jot get scammed when you are driving there. Keep going until you reach the park. You do not need a guide, but I do not think they are a ripoff either. I listened to several of them and they seem very informed.

What makes this place worth it are the beautiful beaches. Please don't wast your time or money paying for a guide, particularly during dry season. There aren't many animals throughout the park, most of them are at the beach! When you visit come prepared with snacks and/or sandwiches (there is a limit per person) as they do not sell any food inside of the park. Unfortunately their tickets do not allow for reentry. Must see Espadilla beach inside of the park.

Absolutely beautiful beaches; flora and fauna are incredible to see. Saw monkeys, deer, and exotic birds. My only complaint is the pricing. $16 to enter just because you're a tourist? Seems a little steep to enter a park. Nice service that one can shower off the sand.

Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Arrive early to enjoy this beautiful jungle forest that rubs up right against back to back crescent shaped beaches that are kept meticulous because the park limits the size of the crowds to a seven hundred guests today. Wild monkeys roam the trees and if you're lucky you can spot sloths, raccoons and other fascinating wildlife. We took our chances and skipped hiring a guide and still got magnificent photos of a variety of wildlife. Pack a picnic to enjoy on the beach as you'll want to explore the forests and beaches all day long.
