We had an amazing stay at El Silencio on our honeymoon. It is an extremely peacful ,relaxing, and beautiful place. The staff went out of their way to help us with everything and made us feel at home. Staff are bilingual which was a huge plus! We would definitely stay here again.

It was a unique place to finish out three city in 9 days Kensington arranged trip. We met William, Kenneth, Roberto, Martin, David, his brother Raul (?), Gregory, Orlando, Milton, and many others who make a great hospitality team. Jon and Joanne.

Take wet weather gear and especially waterproof footwear. Nice accommodation. A bit of a climb for some. Superb location. Watch the many varieties of birds feeding from the restaurant balcony. Food was fine but over priced. Don't take young children.

We loved this place. Wonderful people. Our privacy was respected, and it was still social when you went into the restaurant, if you wanted it to be. Quiet and beautiful place to rejuvenate your soul.

We went in the rainy off-season. It was magical. Misty mountains surrounding rushing creeks. Went into the lodge to warm ourselves by the roaring fire. Even though it was off-season and only few clients, the restaurant was fully staffed and all service was top-notch and friendly. Food was gourmet and excellent.

Just perfect. Modern construction with all comforts. The staff is exceptional. They make you feel right at home. I will return. The only con is the food at the restaurant is not to par with the facility.

Spent 4 days at El Silencio in July of 2014. My family of 6 had a great time exploring the rain forest and local area. It is a rain forest so yes, it is a bit chilly and wet. The restaurant was outstanding, the staff was 1st class in every way. A must see is Catarata Del Toro, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It is a strenuous hike to the bottom of the waterfall but it is well worth the trip. It is close to El Silencio via car. Pura Vida !

Not worth the money. Just returned home yesterday. It's beautiful scenery but our room wasn't the cleanest. Our coffee maker was broken, there was a a couple of questionable stains on the couch that should have been steam cleaned. The food was great for the most part. We paid for daily meals but they screwed up two of our orders, one of which (the appetiser) they forgot to bring the relacement. I had to ask for bread also, noticed everyone got some but us. After asking for it, they brought it after the meal. When you're paying $90 per meals for two people, you expect good service. Also, we were confused on gratuity. We were told that 10% gratuity was already added and we would receive a $0.00 bill every meal to add on optional tips. When finished eating, nothing happened so we figured we'd add everything at the end. We noticed one particular waiter was treating us like crap, nasty attitude, rude and inattentive. We thought it might be the tip thing so we asked him about the tip process again. He told us "The problem" was that we prepaid our meals. UmmmI didn't know prepaying $400 worth of meals for three days was a problem. If we were told properly to add on extra to these phantom zeroed out bills we would have. We were so confused. That waiter was so rude. I wish I remembered his name. (Brown hair, about 30 or 35) He should be fired. Also, the lady that booked us through the site (Dixie was her name) told us lots of misinformation including there were an abundant amount of monkeys. The WHOLE purpose of us going there were to see monkeys. When we got there we were told there were none and she got our hotel confused with the sister hotel. She also told us we didn't need a passport. We are from the US! Good thing I had a bad feeling and checked or we'd have been stuck tying to get in the country! That's a pretty big mistake. All in allwe would have stayed at the other hotel if the booking lady knew her job. That was our very first real vacation and because she got the hotels mixed, it was ruined by our monkey sight seeing not happening. We wasted our money. Prettyyes. Worth itno. Over $3,000 of our saved money wasted. We are pretty sad.
